Farewell to Tracy Nacionales, RN MB Bleeding Disorders Program

Tracy Nacionales (right), RN Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Program (MBDP) will be leaving to take a new position out of province at the end of January. Tracy has been with the MBDP for the past two and a half years and has been a valued member of the team at HSC. We wish her the best of luck in her new adventure!

If you would like to wish her well, you can leave her a message in the Chapter's e-card. We will leave the card open until Sunday, January 30th.

The CHS James Kreppner Memorial Scholarship and Bursary Program is a posthumous tribute to James Kreppner, a long-time volunteer and member of the CHS Board of Directors, and a highly respected and exemplary activist. He passed away in 2009 from complications related to HIV and hepatitis C. The CHS James Kreppner Scholarship and Bursary Program is an ongoing tribute to James’ dedication, intelligence and commitment to the CHS and community service.

CHS-MC Volunteer Award Nominations for 2021

As a grassroots organization, none of our programs and services would be possible without the time, energy and talents of our volunteers. Volunteer contributions are vital to the work of the Chapter and those contributions are both recognized and valued. CHS-MC is committed to the ongoing development of volunteer policies and procedures to encourage good practices.

Please help us recognize the work of Chapter volunteers by nominating someone who made a difference to you in 2021. The online form describes the award and lists the previous recipients.

Lucky Iron Fish

Developed in Canada, the Lucky Iron Fish is made from food-grade electrolytic iron powder. When used in cooking, specifically boiling, it releases iron particles that are then consumed and easily absorbed by the body. This is not suitable as a substitute for therapies treating serious cases of iron deficient anemia. You can visit the Lucky Iron website for information on use & care as well as their FAQ section. Dr. Aileen Gray discusses her experience with the Lucky Iron Fish in the Let's Talk Period blog.

If you are interested in trying a Lucky Iron Fish, please contact the Chapter office. There is no cost to you. We have a supply of the Lucky Iron Fish and the Iron Protection Oil. For those who are interested, we can also provide the Luck Iron Fish e-cookbook.

Gala Looking for Prize Donations

Chapter member John Rogasky, made this outdoor cedar bar with a cooler and donated it to the 2020 Gala. Do you have something you would like to donate for a prize? We can issue a tax receipt for the value of your donation. We are looking for the following:

  • Gift cards in any denomination. We will add them to prizes or use them to purchase prizes. This is a huge help to us! This might help you re-gift a card you got as a gift, but you can't use. We can use gift cards from local restaurants, coffee shops, garden centers, electronics stores or even Canadian Tire.
  • New items such as re-gifting something you can't use. We make a variety of prize packages and are always looking for gifts of cooking items, outdoor items, merchandise from the Jets and Blue Bombers, and personal care products. Let us know what you have!
  • Silent Auction items include pieces like John's, pictured above. Donations for the Silent Auction can include original art pieces, sports memorabilia, vacation rentals, homemade quilt, jewelry and more.
If you have something to donate or would like to talk about something you are considering, please email or call Christine at the Chapter office. We can arrange to pick up your donation. info@hemophiliamb.ca or 204.775.8625
