Hey, Beatles fans: Ever dreamed of living beneath the waves in a yellow submarine?
A UK businessman is giving Fab Four fanatics the chance – at least for a night or two. Alfie Bubbles has converted an 80-foot submarine into a floating hotel moored at Albert Dock in Liverpool, the Beatles’ hometown, and painted to resemble the “Yellow Submarine” album cover, reports the Daily Mail.
The interior combines a 1969-esq psychedelic look and modern touches. The three guest rooms on board all have 3D televisions, WiFi and computers. And if the Beatles aren’t the end-all for you in terms of British rock – there’s also an original scooter from the Who film “Quadrophenia” in the hotel’s lounge, according to the Mail.
This submarine has some serious entertainment bona fides. It was previously owned by Paramount Pictures, who used it to shoot “The Hunt for Red October,” the 1990 thriller starring Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin.
The vessel is docked near Bubbles’ last floating hotel creation, one based on the Joker from “Batman,” which is booked through October with tourists from around the globe. His goal is to create an entire fleet of movie-themed floating hotels, including far more ominous vessels like the Titanic and the Black Pearl from “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Sleep tight.
A stay in the yellow submarine will cost you about $230 a night during the week and about $460 to $540 a night on weekends. No telling how much it will cost you to get the infectious song’s chorus out of your head.
