Investigation after prisoner John Keenan Sr dies at Castle Huntly

An investigation has been launched after a prisoner died at a jail near Dundee.

John Keenan Sr, 50, was jailed for six years and three months in 2009.

He had been convicted of culpable homicide following the death of Alan O'Connor in Motherwell.

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) confirmed that Keenan was found dead at Castle Huntly on Monday. Tayside Police said there were no apparent suspicous circumstances.

The SPS said the matter would be reported to the procurator fiscal and a fatal accident inquiry may be held in due course.
