Dr. Carman Ciervo named executive VP at Kennedy Health

VOORHEES -- Carman Ciervo, D.O., FACOFP, has been named executive vice president with Kennedy Health. He will also retain his title as chief physician executive at Kennedy Health, which he has held since 2014.

In this expanded role at Kennedy, Ciervo will work directly with President and CEO Joseph W. Devine in providing oversight of the multi-hospital system's strategic growth and initiatives in several key areas. He will also work closely with other Kennedy leaders and staff to advance the organization's mission, expand services, and continue to expand physician services for area community members.

As member of Kennedy's senior leadership team since 2010, Ciervo has played a key role in Kennedy's continued growth and transformation, working directly on hospital and health system initiatives related to the employed-physician model, population health, and clinical excellence. He has also overseen the progressive growth of the Kennedy Health Alliance, a consumer-friendly network of primary and specialty medical practices throughout southern New Jersey.

Additionally, Ciervo spearheaded the recruitment and growth of many physician subspecialty services, and developed a strong physician leadership team, elevating the clinical care continuum for Kennedy patients.

A member of the Board of Governors for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) 2010 - 2015, Ciervo was honored in 2014 by the organization as a "Guardian of the Profession" for demonstrating a strong sense of pride in the osteopathic medical profession and for working actively to advance osteopathic medicine. Ciervo has served on the ACOFP Industry Relations Committee, as Chair of the In-service Exam Committee, and Vice Chair of the Committee on Evaluation and Education. Dr. Ciervo is a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians State Society and the President's Council for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He has been honored by South Jersey and SJ magazines as a "Top Doc" in various physician and reader polls.

An inductee into the AOA Mentor Hall of Fame, Ciervo has conducted numerous clinical trials, has obtained several million dollars in grant funding for education and research and has presented at more than 100 national speaking engagements. Additionally, he has published more than 25 peer-reviewed articles for medical journals. A South Jersey native, Ciervo was named to the Camden Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 2015.

The father of a college-age daughter, Dr. Ciervo resides with his wife, headache specialist Loretta Mueller, D.O., in Haddonfield.
