The Cambridges post new photos of their kids with Sir David Attenborough

cambridge atten

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted new photos of themselves and their children on Saturday, I guess timed for the Sunday papers in Britain? Or were they aiming for online coverage today? These photos are not breaking news – the Cambridge family met with Sir David Attenborough “earlier this week” for a screening of his new documentary. Kensington Palace sat on the photos until they could be of use somehow. I’m not sure if these pics are really showing how “normal” the Cambridges are? I mean, Attenborough literally came to Kensington Palace to give the Cambridges an advanced special private screening. Pretty elite! But I guess we’re only supposed to pay attention to the kids.

So, the kids… at this point, I do think it’s kind of funny that Will and Kate color-coordinate their family photos so much. Considering Kate’s insistence that blue is her signature color, I feel like she’s the one color-coordinating everyone’s outfits. Do you think she asked Attenborough to wear blue as well? From what we can see, the kids are cute. Charlotte’s getting taller, as is Louis. I can tell from the kids’ natural highlights that they spent a lot of the summer outside. Here’s what KP had to say about the screening:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share new photographs of their family with @DavidAttenborough.

The photographs were taken earlier this week in the gardens of Kensington Palace, after The Duke and Sir David attended an outdoor screening of Sir David’s upcoming feature film ‘David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet’.

With a shared passion for protecting the natural world, they continue to support one another in their missions to tackle some of the biggest environmental challenges our planet faces.

This includes working together on The @EarthshotPrize the most prestigious global environment prize in history – further details of which will be shared in the coming weeks.

When they met, Sir David gave Prince George a tooth from a giant shark the scientific name of which is carcharocles megalodon (‘big tooth’).

Sir David found the tooth on a family holiday to Malta in the late 1960s, embedded in the island’s soft yellow limestone which was laid down during the Miocene period some 23 million years ago. Carcharocles is believed to have grown to 15 metres in length, which is about twice the length of the Great White, the largest shark alive today.

Ah, a mention of the Earthshot Prize, which we haven’t heard about in months and months. Perhaps Earthshot will become for William what the Early Years project was for Kate: they’ll mention it every so often as an excuse/explanation for what the hell he does all day. Royal busy work.

True story… David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet streams on Netflix. I AM CACKLING. I guess the royals don’t actually have a problem with Netflix after all, especially if they’re hosting private screenings of Netflix documentaries at Kensington Palace. Too bad about Prince William’s Attenborough knock-off documentary Prince William: A Planet For Us All. It does not appear on Netflix, probably because it’s just about William being vaguely keen about the environment.

“Imitation is the greatest form of flattery mediocrity can pay to greatness”…. I have to give kudos to the #Sussexsquad; they predicted the bench; they didn’t predict the Veronica Beard style dress……..

I guess Netflix is not bad after all

Question for the team here: what’s the point of this? promoting the documentary?

    • Becks1 says:

Promoting Attenborough’s documentary apparently? It really does feel like they just wanted to get the kids into the spotlight (and thus William and Kate) and get some positive PR .

      • Watson says:

Yup. I was reading the DM commentary last week and so many people complained that they never see the children. Now here they are, trotted out for a photo op. They are a beautiful family but using them to gain popularity and feed the beast is a scary game to play…

    • Myra says:

At first I thought it was all just some mere coincidences, but I can’t ignore it anymore. The SWFing is too strong. Even the f-cking bench? What next? ‘I love California’ posters?

And everything they do is a copy or poor imitation of something else. The title of William’s documentary is like a plagiarised version of David’s. Is there any originality from the House of Cambridge?

    • Nic919 says:

George examining the new bench is also pretty funny. The whole colour coordinated thing looks silly at this point. The kids are getting older and the all blue thing has been done to death. Kate is intellectually very simple so I am sure she thinks this is cute or something, but outside of devoted cambstans no one really cares about them wearing the same colour.

      • Tessa says:

Charlotte seems to be apart from the boys, no pictures of her with her father and brothers on that bench. I hope she is allowed to be interested in science.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I think we are all reading too much into this highly staged picture.

    • minx says:

I’m bored with and tired of all of them.

    • Mustlovedogs says:

Agreed VS. Well said. As for this quote “With a shared passion for protecting the natural world, they continue to support one another in their missions to tackle some of the biggest environmental challenges our planet faces…” They have to be kidding right?. To compare Sir David, an icon who has devoted his life to the study of the natural world, and to the enlightening others about this passion for 60 years… to … keen “IT’S MY PLANET” Bill ?
It’s a travesty. Hope the bench is sustainable timber. 🙄

Lol I sussexsquad called same sitting will be done by cambridges and they didnt disappoint. Kate fan made fun of Meghan wearing similar dress which they consider as tacky now copulate wear it its royal. Cambridges stan should wake up and see how little charoltte and louis was excluded from gifts from david only george received . Also in Twitter they cut louis and charottle too. Poor thing they will be definitely throw under the bus for george. Anyone who think otherwise are not attention to this is idiots.

    • Oh says:

William is really a misogynist … lol, his daughter is 5 years old and he has few photos that he interact with her compared to his boys.

      • Tessa says:

Charlotte not only has to be the spare she has to be less preferred than the Male Children that William has. She should have been sitting with her brothers and father.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Okay I thought I was overthinking things, because at this point it really does seem like Charlotte’s either off to the side or ignored in these little “totally happy and normal family” photoshoots. Glad I’m not the only one picking up on this weird trend of theirs. I find it troubling how the emphasis tends to be on either William + George (heirs only) or William + George + Louis (boys only). I have to wonder how much this dynamic plays out in his actual interactions with his kids vs. these images they carefully curate for the public.

      • Tessa says:

When it seemed that the second would be a girl (Kate wearing pink) William said this child would be a game changer (how so? A girl is still his child, did he want all boys?).

      • Tessa says:

Charlotte was off to the side in Charles and family 70th birthday portrait. She was on the other side of the rest of the family (her parents and the boys). Charles was not seen interacting with his granddaughter only the boys.

      • Sid says:

@Tessa, I recall that Charlotte was also off to the side in the COVID food delivery photo of her, William, and George. It was raining I guess, and William had the umbrella covering George and himself while Charlotte was basically uncovered. Some kids like playing around in the rain so maybe she was doing that, but it just seemed odd for a parent not to make sure both kids are covered.

    • Merricat says:

The whole “spare” concept is unnerving, anyway–like the second child will supply parts that might become damaged in the first, unless the first is too damaged, in which case the second will have to become the first, so don’t develop too much of your own personalities, also-rans!

    • Kalana says:

That is strange that either only George got a gift or they only talked about George’s gift.

      • Anne K says:

The look on Louis’s face breaks my heart. Only one child gets a gift. It reminds me of the stories of the Queen mother giving gifts only to William and showering him with love while ignoring Harry.
Those kids are headed for a lot of misery. Kate and William should do something and correct this favouritism while there’s still time

      • Becks1 says:

Yeah that’s pretty messed up. It could have been presented as a gift for the kids in general, but its clear that it was intended just for George.

      • Nic919 says:

Both William and Kate are the first born who were the favourites of their parents (well Diana didn’t do that but his grand mother and the Queen Mum did for sure) and so they don’t understand how this will affect Charlotte and Louis. They can try to be normal all they want but all this preference of George over the other two will damage them moving forward. It is not great parenting when they don’t shut this down at an early stage. It is in fact the sign of very bad parenting because this favouritism will psychologically damage the other kids.

      • Godwina says:

Ugh, it’s the “heir” garbage. My own grandmother pulled that in our family years back. She had several older grandkids, boys and girls, but it was only when a boy was born to a son of hers (thereby presumed to bear her name–assuming he has kids) that we learned about a little family heirloom (no worth other than sentimental), which she gave to that baby in front of the rest of us because “he will carry on the family name”.

      • Tessa says:

The life of the spare and spare to the spare seems obvious for Charlotte and Louis though William seems to pay attention more to the male children.

      • Seraphina says:

I believe I read somewhere that Diana always tried to show Harry some extra attention/affection/love due to Wills always being singled out because TQ wanted to spend time with the heir. And while I understand her wanting to spend time and impart some wisdom on the person who will carry on the tradition and also get to know the person who will do so, it’s very sad and scars the other child/ren. correct me if I am wrong, but it doesn’t seem that she spends much time with Wills now or while he was a young adult. So why only focus when they are children?

Just weird dynamics for this family.

    • BeanieBean says:

Bringing a gift to one child when there are two others in the family, is just plain mean (outside of a birthday, of course). Whose idea was that? And if Attenborough picked that up on a family holiday so long ago, why would he choose George to give it to? Why not one of his own grandkids or great-grandkids? And right, why not develop a love of science in Charlotte?

      • Tessa says:

Girls like science and they enjoy dinosaur books as much as boys. I hope Kate and William don’t parent that way and say Charlotte would not be interested. That is so insensitive.

      • Nic919 says:

It is very rude to only bring a gift for one child, especially when it’s not a birthday for that child. Maybe Attenborough brought it for all the kids and the media and KP are simply excluding Charlotte and Louis because both of them would be interested in seeing a shark’s tooth. Poor form though. Kids of all ages should be encouraged to love nature and science and not just the FFFK

    • NiqGee says:

It’s funny that they keep singling out the “heirs” for extra special attention and treatment because it means they have learned nothing over the years. Elizabeth’s father was the spare not the heir, and his father before him was also the spare not the heir. Moral of the story: treat the spares better, they might just end up on the throne.

Anyways, Charlotte can always hop a flight to California and stay with Uncle Harry and Auntie Meg and go to Caltech and be a scientist. Girl has options.

  3. Maevo says:

Dear god why is Louis dressed like that?? What child wears knee socks these days?! And the matchy blue outfits is a little much.

    • Züri says:

Thank you! KM theme dresses/ color coordinates their family outfits and it really is just too much.

I think the knee socks, if memory serves me correctly, are a “traditional English custom” for upper class boys (or those who mimic them) under the age of 8.

Also, their machinations are so transparent and, if I didn’t find them so deplorable, my third party embarrassment would be real.

      • Seraphina says:

Zuri, yes the knee socks are a tradition. Socks until a certain age and then pants. (Brit readers correct me if I have it wrong please). And also, because you know, they are so much like us. Didn’t we all have our boys dressed like that???
I can’t stand that idiotic color coordination that Kate seems to adore. I think she does it so that the photo is balanced but it looks idiotic.

      • Shirley Gail says:

We all need to notice that George is in long pants

      • Bohemian Angel says:

No boy I have seen here in the U.K. dresses like this outside of school uniform, which they wear shorts from late spring up until October half term then its full school uniform with long trousers. I have lived in various parts of England and Scotland plus my daughter attended a prestigious traditional British boarding school for a while and I have never seen any boy dressed like how Karen Keen dresses her boys at least not during days off school.

      • RedWeatherTiger says:

And Louis looks like he is dressed to meet Granny Majesty, while Charlotte is wearing lace-less tennis shoes (or whatever they are called in the UK). Since everyone else looks at least moderately formal (children’s business casual, if you will), Charlotte’s bare legs and sneakers (what we call them here in stupid Pennsylvania) stand out as being off-brand.

William is also wearing a shirt, a sweater, and a jacket, while Charlotte has on a little cotton dress.

While I’m here, Normal Bill looks like he’s wearing floods.

    • Nic919 says:

The Little Lord Fauntleroy look is a Kate specialty. Poor George had to endure years of cold legs as well. They need to pick a lane though. Normal boys don’t dress like this in autumn. Only cosplaying aristos. So are they normal or not?

      • Maevo says:

Exactly! I never find them less relatable than when the kids are dressed all old-fashioned. Sure, don’t put them in Batman t-shirts or whatever but knee socks just seems extreme the other way.

    • Züri says:

@Seraphina: thanks! Kate does seem to adore it and it fits with her “I dress like a 1980s schoolteacher brand.” (My mom was a teacher then and the outfits feel very familiar.)

@Nic919: I almost spit out my coffee laughing at your comment! Pure gold! Kate is a cosplaying aristo, though, so no surprise. The converted often have to assiduously assert that the “get it” and “belong” to their chosen group.

    • Godwina says:

Open a British history/culture book. The monarchy carries on a stupid tradition by design.

      • Nic919 says:

Then don’t claim to be normal. The mixed messages the Cambridges send on this is stupid and hypocritical. Embrace the fact that you think you are superior and owed fealty and taxpayer money by dressing your kids in antiquated archaic ways and keep them from the peasants. But don’t claim to be a normal family and that’s why you can’t do the royal engagements your parents and grandparents did. Admit to the nannies and do the work your traditional role requires you to do. They can’t be both.

      • Züri says:

@Godwina No need to be nasty here, I am well acquainted with Hobsbawn’s “Invention of Tradition,” among other sources. It was a simple question that is also a nice way of stimulating conversation with fellow posters.

I would never make a comment–even in exasperation– to someone to open a history book when you don’t know their background. I open history books every day as I am an Ivy-league PhD in history (European) and professor of it at an equally prestigious university. There are more polite and respectful ways to formulate an answer that do not require condescension.

To the others on this thread, thanks for humoring my “stupid” question.

    • kelleybelle says:

I’m thinking, for the hundredth time, that these mid-century housewife dresses that Kate always wears are way too much. Surely she has more preferences in clothing and style than these dresses. They only make her look thinner and older.

    • Maevo says:

I mean, yeah I know they’re traditional. But in 2020…why??

    • ola says:

Actually, lots of kids in Britain. Upper class school uniform is long socks + shorts. It’s tradition. It’s important in Britain. Not everyone needs to wear baggy T-shirts and leggings for every occasion. Chill.

      • Bohemian Angel says:

Yes, but the child is not at school.

      • Nic919 says:

They aren’t at school though. And clinging to silly old rich white people traditions is very MAGA but I guess the BRF is a version of that antiquated philosophy anyway.

  4. Margareth says:

William and Kate are so embarassing, you can feel their desperation to be like the Sussexes.

    • RoyalBlue says:

I am getting a vibe that Kate has been told to dim her light so that the future king can shine. The canceling of the 5 question project, her appearing to be the demure wife, the granny dresses, her mute supporting role.

      • Nic919 says:

I don’t think the lack of survey answers relates to William. It’s because it was a Catherine Quinn idea that was created last minute and Kate doesn’t give a shit about it so she dropped it and used Covid as an excuse. Laziness features in a lot of the reasons why certain things happen.

      • RoyalBlue says:

Nic my gut tells me it’s part of a wider plan. Quinn leaving was in conjunction with the plan to embiggen and put the focus on Cain and his project. Earthshot was announced right after christmas around the time of the pudding pictures, the four kings photo, the queen with her heirs photos etc.

      • Merricat says:

        Lol.

      • Nic919 says:

To be frank Kate doesn’t have much to dim so it’s hard to tell her to work even less than she does because it’s absolute bare minimum as it is.

    • L4frimaire says:

I think in general the royals seem to crowd in he same corner and latch on to similar causes in order to be relevant and one-up each other. Now William and Charles are back on about climate change, although they know their government isn’t that focused on it. They want talk about Covid or the economic fallout because it will blow back on thrm. Once again, William wants to bandwagon on to Attenborough’s films and be a tv player, although he clearly has a defined job as an heir to the British throne. He doesn’t want to do that job, just have the apparatus of the Crown and press attack the Sussexes for breathing. Even this Earthshot prize seems like another indulgence project. They keep wanting to chase the Sussexes, who btw never mention the royal family publicly and who now have a life and jobs completely outside the royal sphere and actually have to earn a living.

  5. Mariane says:

I’m cracking up at how poor louis looks suprised to see the bench😂it looks awfully new/unused. I googled to see if Kate wore demin or bought from the designer before and voila all I got was Meghan markle pictures.
The poor kids are yet again being used for publicity. They have overused the kids so much that this didnt get much response on daily fail(only 2k comments).
The keenbridges are probably realising how insignificant they have become. The US networks are busy discussing trump’s dictatorship and they no longer have much attention globally.
The biggest puzzle of this is why is there was no social distancing?!! If they were okay with the kids to socialize with strangers why not send them to school like what other parents were asked to do??

    • Frida_K says:

Yes, that was my first thought. Why aren’t they masked?

    • bloemheks says:

Was a bit surprised by how few of the comments were positive. It will be interesting to see the horde’s reaction when they find out the doc is on Netflix.

    • Tessa says:

Since Harry and Meghan left and are still in the news, The Cambridges keep pushing those children out, like their “stage parents” dragging children to audition for movie roles.

  6. Harper says:

FFK Willieleaks has no reputation or body of work of his own; so what to do? Attach thyself to someone else who has committed themselves to a cause and bask in their glory. Guess Willie has declared himself the natural environment czar to go along with Kate’s little kiddies public persona. Watching a movie in Will’s own backyard will go down as last week’s work.

    • Kalana says:

Attenborough’s work is William’s work! Hands down that’s what William is thinking.

William needs a director’s chair too!

Their fans were desperately hoping it was shade against the Sussexes and William was producing. No, he had props made up so he could pretend. That’s your statesman FFK. Enjoy.

      • Becks1 says:

It’s really pathetic when you think about it. They made a director’s chair for William so he could feel important and special. I mean…….

      • Lemons says:

I didn’t even think about that! Why does William have a director’s chair and why can’t David sit in his own chair! It wasn’t very cute.

      • Kalana says:

Harry had an oompa-loompa so William wanted an oompa-loompa too!

  7. ABritGuest says:

The most prestigious global prize? Who decides how prestigious something is before it launches? Charles is calling for a Marshall plan for the environment. In some ways shame they can’t just team up in this area. Maybe we’ll see that when the prize launches.

Always nice to see the kids. They are so cute. Very Von trapp family feel to the colour scheme. I lol at the Hollywood director chairs.

Knew that report about the Firm regarding Netflix as the enemy was too silly to be true. KP are promoting a Netflix title essentially. And Kate is wearing a Gabriela Hearst dress who Meghan has worn but royalists said was inappropriate for Meghan because the designer is a political activist& was pro Hillary. Maybe this is their way of showing support to the Sussexes 😉

    • Nic919 says:

There is a quote from Greta Thunberg basically denouncing prizes like this for the environment as a waste of time and that people should focus on doing the work. Sad that a teen girl is aware of the bs surrounding this more than FFK.

    • Merricat says:

Lol. That was exactly how I reacted–you can’t just arbitrarily announce that the prize you created is the most prestigious in the world. That really did make me laugh out loud.

    • Kalana says:

“The @EarthshotPrize the most prestigious global environment prize in history”

      William reeks of insecurity.

Why is it the most prestigious prize in history? Because William’s a member of that pedo protecting family? (Who was the inspiration for Louis’ name?)

    • Jay says:

This prize is so prestigious that the “founder” forgot about it for roughly 9 months.

It’s a tremendous prize. The very best one that’s ever been done. Many people are saying that.

    • Lemons says:

I think that they realized that the Sussexes were focusing on winning the war (I mean, they likely aren’t concerned with the Cambridges, but this is a part of their winning strategy). Tabloid fodder doesn’t mean anything. Their brand is now truly profitable (not just for them but also for other companies).

The Cambridges are trying to show companies like Netflix that they can also be moneymakers and influencers. Look! David’s documentary will be a hit because we promoted it with the kids! Again, they are piggybacking off of his work and claiming it as if they were truly involved in the project.

On another note, someone must have told William that it’s really curious that he’s releasing an environmental documentary at the same time as his Earthshot Prize challenge, but we haven’t heard anything about it…Team KP must have also forgotten about it.

      • Lyn says:

        But why Lemons?

They already have a role as head of state in waiting. It will be global. And doesnt need to seek an American prominent presence as that will come naturally from being head of state.

Is just that William cannot abide his brother having something he doesn’t have or he genuinely thinks the role of King should be a bit more than sitting there and waving?

      • L4frimaire says:

Remember when the Sussexes first left, the press was mocking them saying they wanted to be influencers. It is not the job of the British Royal family to be money makers and influencers, especially for companies like Netflix. They are the future head of state, funded by the taxpayers. Why is William trying to sell himself to Netflix or whomever? I really don’t get it.

      • Lemons says:

I think psychologically, William knows that he isn’t that special without the crown. There are essentially four areas where William could exceed expectations without having “the crown”: academia, athletics/military, artistry, business/charity. William hasn’t tried to elevate himself in any of these pursuits. He’s playing a PR game which is fine, but at least his predecessors were busy doing something else to better themselves as human beings.

In modern times, the importance of the crown has diminished. William and Kate will be seen as tabloid fodder because they aren’t working on anything else. So this is why their business is interesting strictly for gossip outlets. So once he becomes head of state, will anyone really be listening? Is anyone listening now? I doubt it.

But the world is listening to his little brother and his wife, and that’s what irks WIlliam. No leak negotiations or kid props necessary.

  8. Crowned Huntress says:

The color coordination is a little much. I understand a subtle theme but this is just…
Also, why is Louis is knee socks and shorts? What little boy in 2020 is being dressed like this & why?

Still waiting for Earthshot to take off but alas…

    • Silverdragon says:

And I don’t understand the weather at all… Is it still summer because Charlotte still wears a dress without tights? Or is it a little colder – early autumn for the knee socks and shorts? Or is it winter, so that the FFK has to wear a shirt, a pullover AND a blazer? Or is it only the women and little children who have to freeze their a**ses off?

      • ola says:

It’s the British weather. It’s never too hot and it’s never too cold. Most kids don’t wear jackets in winter, most girls don’t wear tights in autumn. Most elderly men wear a blazer and a shirt all year long + a pullover when it’s colder. Shorts and knee socks are common for upper class little boys, don’t have to be royals. These are typical British outfits. You’re likely to see Uggs in summer and shorts in winter. Nothing difficult to understand here.

      • Nic919 says:

Tights are only for church weddings even when it’s very hot so you can gaslight your sister in law about her wedding in the media for months.

      • Bohemian Angel says:

I’m sorry @Ola, do you actually live here in Britain? It never gets too hot or too cold? I live in London, South East England, while we have better weather than most of the rest of the U.K. it does get too bloody hot, it was sweltering here just a month ago which was unbearable as it usually is in the summer. And everyone wears a coat during winter as it freezing cold even here in the South. I really don’t know where you live or how you came to the conclusion you did about the British weather!

      • Kkat says:

@ola is a new troll, I’ve seen her in various threads basically telling the regular commenters who ARE British they are wrong about stuff. Stuff I as a Californian, with former British in-laws and xhusband, know way more about things in England than Ola does.

  9. S808 says:

I cackled at the director’s chairs with his and Attenborough’s names on them. Netflix is absolutely not the issue but we already knew that. I wonder how long they’ll pretend earthshot is still a thing before doing something lackluster a la 5 big questions and we never hear about it again. We’ve all said they shouldn’t be doing big projects. They’re not good at them and never fully flesh out anything.

    • Chica1971 says:

Those chairs are uncomfortable for a sceeening especially for a man of advanced age. I also thought the directing was over.

      • Kalana says:

They could set up red velvet curtains for this dumb photo op but they couldn’t get an elderly man a comfortable chair because William needs his props.

      • L4frimaire says:

Meanwhile, the Sussexes have a whole screening room in their Montecito home.

  10. Ariel says:

    Aristocratic white trash.
    Useless.

    • Kalana says:

      Bingo.

Money can’t buy you class. (Mah friend).

And let’s be clear for the stans, we’re talking about Will and Kate, not their kids.

    • Tessa says:

I am talking the couple here. And they are not doing right by their children, with George only getting presents and William focusing more on the males as if Charlotte should not be interested in the topic.

    • Godwina says:

If you have to qualify that *this* trash is white, it suggests most human trash is not white–that the default trash is BIPOC folks. I want the term “white trash” to die in a fire (like “white slavery”) because it’s racist af against BIPOC people. Please stop using it, world.

    • Jaded says:

Not even aristocratic – the real aristos would be insulted.

  11. Amy Bee says:

This is another push by KP to get William back into the spotlight. What better way to do it but with a photo with Attenborough and his children. William and his staff have no humility. How can they describe the Earthshot Prize as the most prestigious award in global environmental history when no one has ever won it and the first time anybody heard about it was on the last day of 2019?

  12. Becks1 says:

Well, to start – the director’s chairs were SO CHEESY. And the color coordination is also cheesy. There’s a way to dress so family members don’t clash without being 100% coordinated.

At first I thought this was to screen William’s new documentary, but its for Attenborough’s Netflix one, which just cracks me up. Its clearly meant to raise interest for William’s, but considering he had trouble even getting the thing made, I’m not sure how much interest there is. They definitely had to include the kids though or else there would have been little interaction on social media for this. (when I looked at this last night, the pinned post for Kate’s photo competition had something like 2k likes, these pictures had around 7k likes.)

and OMG the earthshot prize. I looked at the IG for that, and the LAST post for it was early January, and it said “more information coming throughout 2020” and now it’s almost October and…..still nothing. LOL .Stay keen Cambridges.

    • S808 says:

If there’s one thing they’re consistent about it’s having a half baked project.

    • Kalana says:

The planet will have to wait. The Cambridges are too busy doing the school run or something.

      • ravynrobyn says:

        @ KALANA-OMG! HA 🤣 HA 🤣 HA 🤣 HA 🤣🤣

      • fluffy_bunny says:

I don’t think the kids are in school or we would have seen pictures of the first day. They are likely doing distance learning with private tutors.

      • RoyalBlue says:

fluffy I think so too. governesses have been employed since they quarantined to the country to homeschool.

    • Nic919 says:

Oh wow I didn’t realize the earth shot thing was first announced in January. This really is like the survey with no results. They are both so pathetic.

      • Becks1 says:

They really are and what is so frustrating to me, after all this time, is that they don’t have to be so pathetic. They don’t HAVE to do these half-assed projects that are meant to show their “vision” and establish them as future statesmen or whatever. They can just do lots of the basic royal events. I know we talk about this all the time here, but William could have established himself by this point as the hardest working royal. If he was working as much as his father or aunt, he would be praised to the heavens. He wouldn’t need Earthshot or whatever else he comes up with that just falls flat. But that would mean he would actually have to work.

    • RoyalBlue says:

I have been stalking the court circular and Cain has been having the odd Earthshot meeting once a month or so. I want more info on this. Were these 10 minute phone calls or 2 hour meetings to flesh out details, I am sure Cain was courting Bill Gates to support his projects as he has had a couple meetings with him in the past couple of years. It’s obvious he desperately wants to break in with some notable US names in order to raise his profile and one-up his brother. He is determined to be seen as a global figure, not just a UK figure. And why? To what end? He is fighting for his legacy

  13. Oh says:

It’s funny how Cambridge used their kids and get them out whenever the royal family get bad press …. Thanks God Archie has parents like Harry and Meghan

    • ShazBot says:

I noticed the media was silently stewing about not getting first day of school pics of kids, so they clearly had to trot them out.

    • Honora says:

So god cares about Archie and not these kids? Sorry I don’t get what you mean here.

      • RedWeatherTiger says:

Oh is expressing gratitude that Archie’s parents don’t trot him out to change the media story. Archie’s parents do not use him to their own selfish ends.

      • Sid says:

“Thank God” is a very common expression used even by people who aren’t religious, much like there are people who celebrate Christmas and have never even stepped in a church.

  14. Sofia says:

The kids are cute. George looks to be pretty tall already. But it’s things like this that make me lol when their fans try to say they’re just a “normal” middle class family. I don’t any middle class families that have David Attenborough over for tea and to give a private screening of his Netflix documentary.

I know they have to have “some” humility because if they try to act like the rich family that they are, it can border into Marie Antoinette quickly but I’m sure there’s a line between middle class and upper class that the Cambridges can walk on.

  15. Noki says:

Look at Williams skin, teeth and patchy blood shot hands. He is clearly more than just a casual smoker. I know Kate used to smoke,i think she has quit since becomming a mother, she wouldnt want that ‘image’ now as a mom.

  16. GuestWho says:

“This includes working together on The @EarthshotPrize the most prestigious global environment prize in history.”

I’m going to give that sentence the prize for the most hyperbolic description of a prize that has yet to be awarded.

    • ArtHistorian says:

I’m getting second-hand embarrassment reading that description. It is so pathetic – this prize hasn’t even been launched yet!

    • Jaded says:

Total fremdschämen – you can be sure Willyleaks had a hand in that utter nonsense.

    • L4frimaire says:

Do they have the same backing and deep pockets of Jeff Bezo’s $10 bil environmental fund that was launched. He’s already given out grants. Both of these reek of hypocrisy and patting oneself on the back. What’s the point when the government is hell bent on rolling back current environmental laws and withdrawing from climate agreements.

  17. Nancy says:

They really do make cute kids! Kate’s dress is not great. Lovely pics tho. Also not following the bench discussion…a lot of people have benches in their yards…?

    • tolly says:

The bench is funny because it’s so shiny and new, in the middle of a overgrown, ancient garden. People are calling a prop a prop, and noting the similarity to the recent Sussex video (with a bench that did not look like it had been delivered ten minutes earlier).

      • Nancy says:

So they got a new bench. For some photos in a garden. It literally does not have to mean anything.

      • Lady D says:

You’re right it doesn’t have to mean anything, but we all know why it’s there:)

      • Jaded says:

That bench sticks out like a sore thumb. It doesn’t go with the “feel” of the garden at all. If they needed to put a bench there why not go with something old-fashioned looking like Victorian wrought-iron? Hmmmm?

      • Nancy says:

People are really reaching to establish connections between a generic bench that thousands of people have in their yards.

    • Tessa says:

Windsors like Will they will have a small window to keep their looks. William was cute for a time but lost his looks.

    • Ebony Rising says:

People are basically pointing out that the bench is just one more data point in the Lambridges very obvious campaign to copy and engage in a one-sided competition with the Sussexes, who aren’t worried about their boring selves.

  18. Merricat says:

Kate is so thin, she’s swimming in that dress. It’s a little scary.

    • bloemheks says:

I remember when we finally recognized our daughter had entered full-blown anorexia territory. It was so scary. She’s always been thin which is partly why it took us so long to see just how bad it was. Kate’s fans go on about how she’s just naturally thin, but once you get down around 16-17 BMI it doesn’t matter how naturally thin you are. The body starts shutting down, including your ability to think clearly. Recovery is physically exhausting and takes months. Makes you wonder if that’s what her disappearances are about.

      • Merricat says:

I think the disappearances are linked to her cosmetic procedures. An eating disorder explains why she’s looked so haggard and older than her age, and her up-and-down emotions and her poor choices. I’m definitely not a fan, but I can see she is ill.

      • Nancy says:

        These are really awful comments.

      • bloemheks says:

@Nancy, I didn’t mean it to be awful. I’m genuinely concerned. It’s the comments by her fans who don’t seem to care I find awful.

      • Beach Dreams says:

@Nancy, how exactly are they “awful”? None of these comments were mocking Kate’s weight or being nasty about her appearance for the sake of it. Not everyone is going to be like you and other Cambridge fans and look the other way when it comes to her increasingly frail figure. And no, for the millionth time, this is nowhere NEAR her natural frame. Her natural frame is athletic and slim but not skinny, as shown in the many pictures of her throughout her 20s. Sorry if that bothers you, but facts are facts.

      • Nancy says:

You don’t have to be a Cambridge fan to think these speculative comments are pretty gross.

      • Jaded says:

@Nancy – you may notice that those of us concerned with Kate’s very obvious and deliberate thinnification have personally experienced or have family members who have experienced eating disorders. These comments are not being made in a “gross” or malicious manner. It makes me sad looking at her because it reminds me of my late sister who died of eating disorders.

      • CC says:

I don’t think speculative comments are gross as long as it’s coming from a place of concern not snark. The problem with many people is that they don’t voice out any concern at all until a poor woman is too far gone! The hush hush around her body is also getting worrying. Are we really normalising this frame? Eating disorder or not, Kate is definitely not doing so well. Being married to a Windsor with rumours of an affair doesn’t help too.

      • Nancy says:

I think people can concern troll all they want, but it’s my opinion that the comments and speculative diagnoses are really tasteless.

      • Sofia says:

And I find your constant defence of a couple who’s one half keeps a slave painting in her home to be tasteless too Nancy.

      • Jaded says:

@Nancy – I resent being accused of concern trolling, that was never the intent of my comments or those of others who genuinely feel sorry for whatever Kate is going through that is causing her issue. I agree with CC that the more you blame these comments on snark, the more you diminish something that is widespread and heart-breaking. It’s a mental illness and surely someone who purports to support mental health and wellness initiatives should be looking into her own obvious troubles.

    • lemonylips says:

sorry @Nancy but how is someone’s personal experience , as in @bloemheks, tasteless?

      • Nancy says:

Not going to explain my opinion, and bringing other (stupid and gross things) W&K have done into this is really reaching. I think it’s strange to openly speculate on whether or not a person has an ED. Period.

      • Sofia says:

@Nancy: If you don’t like the comments here, I suggest you find a site where you will. Might I suggest the Daily Mail? You can wax poetry about the Cambridges all night long there!

And if you think these comments are bad, then welcome to dealing with just 1% of what those of us who like the Sussexes have been dealing with for 4+ years

      • lemonylips says:

@Sofia, I found it more disturbing that someone might read a personal comment, that I find courageous (my cousin has an ED and it took her parents years, and all of us, to try to help her and we are still dealing with it) offensive, and I can’t understand it. I’m sorry @Nancy but to say things @bloemheks did takes guts and I just don’t understand how anyone would not be sympathetic over it. I’m willing to hear your pov, I was just defending someone who seems really related to the subject and can’t be going through it easily. It was deffo not an attack on Kate, tastless or awful. If anything, it was supportive.

      • Jaded says:

@Nancy – well it appears we are the only ones explaining our opinions honestly and sympathetically. We speculate on many things here on CB, and for the most part they are valid and educated opinions, not just flinging poo on the CB wall to see what sticks. You really haven’t explained your opinion other than to denigrate everything we, as people who have experienced EDs ourselves or with family members, can honestly discuss with compassion. You’ve accused us of tasteless trolling but I think it is you who is doing the trolling.

    • lemonylips says:

@Jaded- I know it’s no comfort coming from a stranger but I do hope you have a lot of nice memories of your sister and the time you had. I’m so sorry. Cherrish her and celebrate even in the littlest of moments.

      • Jaded says:

Thank you, that’s really sweet! Not a day goes by when I don’t think of her and it’s been 31 years.

  19. Florence says:

The colour co-ordination, oh my god. It’s looking more and more like a cult.

The trailer for the programme has a spectacular bit of jaw-jutting from Kate, just before she giggles and plays with her hair as she’s talking to Attenborough. Weird flirty vibes from someone who is nearly 40. So WEIRD, you guys.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Sir David is a NOTORIOUS flirt, watch him flirt with Jessica Chastain on Graham Norton – he can’t help himself. And Kate, we’ll she always gives me vibes of someone who is so starved for male attention she’ll take it where ever she can get it.

      • Nic919 says:

That’s how cambstans invented Harry’s relationship with Kate. Basically he was nice to her as her is with everyone and she responded with massive flirting because William always ignores her. Even the DM and others wrote articles about the awkward flirting she did. And then Meghan showed up and it stopped.

  20. AMM says:

This is so infuriating. Weeks of articles allowing the papers to use Williams emotions to smear Harry (William is betrayed because Harry is working with Netflix who are disrespect his Mothers memory on the crown), just to causally promote a Netflix documentary on IG. Of course William couldn’t have released a comment that he was not bothered by Netflix or Harry. He allowed the smear campaign to continue on in his name.

  21. Ali says:

Just waiting for her new leather pants or skirt. We all know it’s coming.

  22. JustMe says:

Good grief! They are even sitting in the wrong chairs! What a strange production mistake for a so-called professional CEO and her husband who are in charge of everything Cambridge. The pergola is weather worn whilst the bench is very new looking. As usual, a very rushed cosplay gone bad! They give themselves away yet again!

  23. Digital Unicorn says:

Hmm, I guess we know what is keeping Top CEO soo busy she can’t work for her patronages – cosplaying/SWFing and colour coordinating is a very time consuming endeavour. I wonder if she will get credit for inventing the park bench – just like she got credit for inventing a ‘star gazing’ log seat.

Also Sir David broke an instagram record yesterday, by getting the biggest number of followers in a few hours – a record once held by the Sussex’s.

  24. Shirley Gail says:

    In fact, it’s truly BIGLY

  25. Shirley Gail says:

Why is no one talking about the fact that Kate is holding her belly?

  26. Ginger says:

This is so embarrassing. William is so jealous of his brother. “See Harry, I can team up with Netflix, too!”

    Pathetic.

  27. JT says:

British peeps, hows the coverage going in the U.K. about this? Are people talking about it? I think they’ve overplayed trotting out the kids. They’ve brought them out too much, so they don’t make as much of an impact. People were so excited to see Archie for the save the children video, but these photos of the Cambridge kids are underwhelming to me. Kate should also start changing up the kid’s clothes because all of their pictures are starting to blend in together. You can’t tell these pics apart from the other ones. They might get more excitement that way.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Not really – I haven’t seen it reported anywhere else other than official Royal channels and the Daily Fail.

We’re more interested in COVID-19 and how badly our gov has fkd it up than the Royals.

  28. Guest says:

Well this pr stunt was a flop. It was overshadowed by trumps Supreme Court nominee. I fill bad for charlotte. They cut her out of the picture on twitter. Its already started with her and Louis being second fiddle to the heir.

    • Tessa says:

William may not have liked the change in succession rules, he seems to put Charlotte third. Louis will have to get used to see his brother getting the most attention. Too bad for those children.

      • JT says:

Anyone thinking that W&K we’re going to break the cycle don’t have eyes. Presents for George, but not the other children. Charlotte standing off to the side again and being cropped from the photo. And Kate is mother of the year for what? How could she allow this? Louis will be treated just like Harry was and it looks like Charlotte will be treated worse; Will never seems to give her any attention. The RF is so damaging to children they should be reported. No wonder Harry wanted Archie out. This is really sad. I feel for those kids, because they have nobody to empathize with them. If it’s true that Meg doted on Charlotte, then it makes things that much worse. Charlotte had someone like Meghan who gave her attention and has lost it. These people. Poor girl needs a woman in her life who has accomplished something other than landing a man. And we all know W&K will not raise Charlotte and Louis to make their own path. Here’s hoping H&M will see them once in awhile to show them a different way.

      • Tessa says:

The picture reminds me of the famous Tudor Family picture with the heir in the center with Henry and Jane Seymour (even though she was then deceased and he was married to Catherine Parr) and Edward with the daughters Mary and Elizabeth on the borders of the painting. WIth the boys with the fossil it seems to say “girls are not interested in science”. Girls are interested in dinosaurs too. Princess Anne managed to survive the favoritism of Charles but it is not certain that Charlotte will. I hope they send her to University and not to finishing school.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Agreed. Imo the most troubling part of these photo ops (one that’s been ongoing) is how Charlotte seems to just be “there”, little to no interactions with her parents. Even at engagements when Will or Kate talk about their kids, Charlotte doesn’t seem to be mentioned as often as her brothers. For a family that loves to send a message through their photo choices, the Cambridges sure aren’t sending any good ones regarding how they potentially treat their kids.

      • Oh says:

W&K children are only the responsibility of W&K… It’s not the responsibility of H&M. William doesn’t care about Archie, he never mentions his name or consider Archie existing . Why does Harry care about their children who are protected by the crown and the British media ??

      • ShazBot says:

Wasn’t Anne her father’s favourite? That probably helped her a lot growing up, to have him in her corner.

      • JT says:

@Oh I didn’t mean to say that the Cambridge kids are H&M’s responsibility, just that sometimes people are influenced by other relatives and not their parents. I think it would be good for those kids to have people with another way of thinking in their life. Especially for Charlotte, Charles excludes her as well. There are photos of PC holding George and Louis, but I don’t recall if there are any of him holding Charlotte. It was nice to hear that Meghan was giving her attention, if true, and could’ve been good for her. Hopefully when the kids get older they will look towards H&M as models of what the spares life could be like. Otherwise, they haven’t got a chance and that’s sad.

      • Berry says:

I am so glad other people have noticed both Charles and William seem to ignore Charlotte.

I hope Charlotte’s teachers nurture her intellectual gifts and interests since it doesn’t seem like her parents are doing it.

  29. Marni112 says:

I am amused by the diverse focus of comments on these pictures.A lot of people on different sites are upset by the condition of the lawn ,the presence of daisies…here the focus is on the Michivellan plans that went on concerning what everybody wore and that Kate is too thin.I was thinking on the other hand maybe she is pregnant.

    • Tessa says:

I hope not. But if she is I’d like to see an announcement right after Eugenie’s and she will be praised just to see the double standard at work. If Meghan had an announcement after Eugenie’s it would be criticized for decades.

      • Oh says:

As if they care about Eugenie’s and her pregnancy…. they just want to trash Meghan for anything she does

      • Likeyoucare says:

Its ok for kate to TRY overshadow Eugenie’s announcement because she will fail to attract attention. Meanwhile, meghan breathing will cause an uproar.

    • Lady D says:

I thought she looked pregnant too.

    • Beach Dreams says:

It’s definitely possible that she’s pregnant, but as Merricat noted, she’s looking awfully thin in that dress. In the last couple of engagements she had, she also looked as thin as ever. Combined with the excess procedures that were evident in one visit (she tends to leave her face alone when pregnant), I’m leaning towards her not being pregnant (for now).

      • Becks1 says:

She stops the Botox and such when she is pregnant, so she’s definitely not since she just got a touch up.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate usually gains some weight before she gets pregnant and she clearly hasn’t so it’s doubtful she’s pregnant. Also the recent botox would be another indication she’s not.

  30. Chris says:

I am sorry, I can’t understand those kids outfits! What year is this?? What do they dress them like the 1950′??? The long socks on the last child! WTF!! I think Kate is trying too hard. I look at the other royal family from Europe, and they kids dress cute, but with the style of the 21rst century.
Those kids are going to be tease at school if she keeps on dressing them like that!

  31. JT says:

Shouldn’t William start promoting his own documentary coming out? It’s coming out soon right? Why is he giving all of this attention to David’s? He’s brought out his kids and mentioned earthshot, the biggliest environmental prize ever created, all to promote something he isn’t even involved with. Even Kate shows up for this when she couldn’t even be bothered to promote the portrait gallery. Who is advising them? They don’t even put this much effort into their own projects.

  32. Annie says:

This is the same bench they took pictures with h&m.. cant remember the occasion. It was with camilla and charles.

They all live in estates. Why is it hard to believe they have benches around Their property?

ETA: not the same bench, but similar. Point being… they all have benches in their yards that span acres of land.

    • Ignoto says:

I don’t know if they all have benches but the Cambridges sure do have lots of weeds in their yard.

  33. Aidevee says:

I think this whole set up is horrible and deeply insensitive.

    1) millions of British children are unable to see their grandparents and extended family right now, yet here are the royal family living it up with an ancient national treasure.

    2) no-one is wearing a mask to help protect Britain’s ancient and much loved national treasure from covid

    3) it looks like a massively elitist fun game for Britain’s poshest children. Why couldn’t other children have been invited? Maybe some children who have had a shit time during lockdown but who are passionate about conservation?

    • Tessa says:

It is sexist with Charlotte excluded from examining the fossil and making it seems that “girls don’t like science.”

    • tolly says:

I agree about the terrible optics, but I doubt that this was meant to be a treat for the kids. Based on the KP statement, it sounds like they were brought out for some photos after the screening. This event seemed to be all about boosting Wills as an environmental activist.

      • Sid says:

tolly, I think you are right about this being meant to try and give William some legitimacy. He has his “documentary” coming up next month and needs to look like he has been doing something. Which makes me think that this screening was somewhat last minute, or else we wouldn’t have seen those recent British media articles talking about how much the BRF hates Netflix and how upset William is over the Sussexes signing with them. Because here he is promoting a Netflix documentary.

    • lemonylips says:

I agree with all of this. also with @Tessa. Charlotte seems to be the happiest to see Atenborough and she’s been pushed aside. I’m not going to analyse the bench or chairs but I do have to note one thing (although it pains me to defend the Keens) – when these photo shoots are made they are always staged. I’m pretty sure they didn’t watch the film in those movie set chairs. And actually as someone who had worked on sets I think they are comfy, but ok. I know you didn’t mention this but everyone is going for that. What I do have an issue with are all those things you’re stating. Cambridges are just showing how short-sighted and tone deaf they are. I have hope for Louis. Charlotte…. I hope she gets Harry’s direct line once a bit older. And yes, imagine how great this would be if they invited at least a few kids. That would have been brilliant. This is just privileged people doing privileged things.

  34. PineNut says:

they don’t even have a decent lawn

  35. Mariane says:

@NOKI & @ALYSSA Here’s a picture of kate holding a cigarette during one of her ‘partying with tabloids photographers’!! There were more on the internet but the palace removed most of them (along with the famous dorm wallpaper of William).
Smoking and excessive sunbathing can add years to your skin as evident with Pippa!!
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Kate+Middletons%27+Smoking&prmd=inv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwizzc-p4YnsAhXFbn0KHb5QBN8Q_AUoAXoECAoQAQ&biw=412&bih=708&dpr=2.63#imgrc=ypAYayEo4TIT4M

This whole thing is a joke. The UK government re introduced curfews and social distancing measures due to spike in cases and the out of touch elitist thought this stunt would help boost his popularity! The keenbridges are on a steady pace to self distraction. I hope they get called out by those who were forced to stop visiting their families and going out for MONTHS

  36. Cathy says:

I’d like to know why they are watching the video in the garden, didn’t they want Sir David in the house (sitting on a comfortable chair), or was it because the photographer would have had to come inside too? (Shudder! Photographers!)

As for the colour coordination. That usually happens when Carole is around (have a look at the colour coordinates the Christmas they stayed with the Middletons. She’s been laying out what the family should wear again and that’s why it all looks like it is from a catalogue 20-30 years ago.)

But all that matchy matchy blue is just looks a little too Gloriavale for me.

    • Dalloway says:

England has a rule of six for gatherings right now. 5 Cambridges + Attenborough is 6, but no idea how many staff are inside or if Carole Middleton is around, etc etc. Being outdoors it’s easier to comply with the rules. Though no masks….

  37. minx says:

Cute kids, that’s all I got.

  38. Annie says:

Sort of confused at the comments here.
They are social distancing and out in the open. What is the harm? Attenborough himself isnt wearing a mask.

    • ola says:

I’m sure they’re all tested frequently. There’s physical distancing in the photo. No harm.

      • Nic919 says:

You absolutely can’t know any of that. Dump has been tested often and the people around him have caught Covid so Attenborough being elderly is out at risk not only with the Cambridges but the many staff members who are there.

The UK has had a horrible death rate, even worse than the US per capita until recently so it’s not like any of their government rules have been enough.

  39. Lucylee says:

I have never gone to visit a family with more than one child and only took a gift for one child. In this case the wording suggests he brought something for the heir and the spares have to look on wistfully. RF needs to rethink heir and spare(s) concept because it is lifelong emotional abuse. Ordinary people (even royalist) would object to this and probably put the gift aside until all of the children could examine it together under parent guidance.

    • Sid says:

I hope Sir David brought gifts for Charlotte and Louis, and it’s just that KP decided to only release the photo of George and his gift. It would still be terrible on KP’s part, but at least all the children would have received something. I just can’t imagine that at Sir David’s big age, he would do something so rude. But maybe he would.

This is so typical of the Cambridges: photo op of the kids, announce something, and then don’t do anything until the next time they need to be seen. They still don’t get that there has to be follow-up if they want be relevant.

Lucky ducks. Im guessing this lazy pair put this down as work.

One of these days, we’ll get another photo of Archie when he’s a bit older. He’ll be dressed in California casual: polo or t-shirt, baseball cap, cargo shorts, and tiny sandals or sneakers with no socks. He’ll be laughing and happy, and Harry and Meghan will be standing nearby, smiling and proud. And about two days later, George and Louis will be in the news wearing polos (I don’t think Kate would let them wear t-shirts), madras shorts, and Docksiders. Charlotte will be dressed as usual because her “doting” parents won’t care what she’s wearing.

I feel sorry for these two. They are so lacking in self awareness and embiggened by the UK press that they cannot see how dumb and pointless they look.

Right now they are riding high on the right wing press hate directed at H&M. But what they do not realise is that by going along with the press narrative they are writing their own headlines when UK politics swings back to the centre. That maybe months or even years down the line, but they will feel the backlash.

How embarrassing for William that he can’t stand the idea that Harry could be successful at anything.

Poor George, Malta is now wanting the tooth returned.

Charlotte is SO tall for a five year old! Wow! I’m 5’4” and my kids are 11 and 12 and only just now are up to my shoulder. Maybe we are just short. Lol.
