Actor Vicky Kaushal began his journey in performing arts with theatre before he assisted Anurag Kashyap on Gangs of Wasseypur in 2010. Now, before he signs another film after Raazi's wrap, the actor will be seen on the stage with theater play, Chattis Ghante.

Actor Vicky Kaushal began his journey in performing arts with theatre before he assisted Anurag Kashyap on Gangs of Wasseypur in 2010, and finally became the leading man in Phantom Films’ Masaan (2015), which got him much acclaim. Two years later, the actor has finished Meghna Gulzar’s film opposite Alia Bhatt and is set to begin working on Ronnie Screwvala’s next based on 2016 Uri attacks. The much-in-demand actor, however, has decided to revisit his theatre roots and will soon star in a play titled Chhatis Ghante.

The production has 10 writers write a play, which will then be picked at random by 10 directors, each getting 12 hours to make and put together a show. Being the actor in the show, Kaushal will only know who his director and which play he would be a part of 12 hours prior to the final performance, set to take place in Mumbai this month end.

The play is a part of an initiative by Rage Productions to raise funds for all the back-stage artists in theatre.

Sharing his excitement about the play and its unique concept, Vicky Kaushal said in a statement, “I felt conceptually this play is extremely exciting because it will happen only this one time, and it is not going to be repeated ever. The concept is that before the show the actors are going to come to know of the co-actors, script, the director only 12 hours before the show. So, whatever they have to do is in those 12 hours that they have to prepare the play so that for me was very exciting to take part in the play. Because it’s just a one-day commitment, with such noble initiative and also very exciting process for a creative person involved, I am very excited to be a part of this.”

Vicky will begin shooting for Screwvala’s real-life inspired film early next year. Titled Uri, the movie is about the Indian army’s surgical strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir that was carried out after the September 2016 Uri terror attacks. It will be directed by debutante Aditya Dhar, and have Kaushal play an army officer. Rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet.
