Topgolf Nashville will open on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017.

Dallas-based Topgolf finally revealed the next Friday opening date at a preview event for Nashville's news media on Thursday night. "We're thrilled to be in Nashville — such a vibrant, thriving city," said Travis Miller, director of operations with Topgolf Nashville.

About 500 employees have been hired for the venue at 500 Cowan St. On average, the locations create $264.5 million in economic output to the local economy over a decade.

East Nashville resident Matt Tapia liked what he heard about features such as heaters that can make players feel up to 30 degrees warmer than actual outdoor temperatures on extremely cold days. "If it's 30 degrees less here than it is outside, me and my friends are likely to come here and hit some balls when normally we won't be outside," he said.

The three-level, 65,000-square-foot golf entertainment venue opening near the east bank of the Cumberland River will be the first Topgolf with a dedicated music venue called Topgolf Live. That two-story, 7,900-square-foot, 500-capacity concert hall is attached to Topgolf Nashville and features an open floor space and a full-service bar. It's being pitched as an ideal underplay venue for local artists and nationally recognized acts.

Matt Tapia takes a practice swing at the Topgolf Nashville Media Taste and Tour on Wednesday night.

Other features at Topgolf Nashville include 102 climate-controlled hitting bays, a locally inspired menu of chef-driven dishes and top-shelf drinks and big screen TVs. The second-level VIP deck has a balcony view and includes seating, cocktail service and also a private bar area.

Topgolf Nashville is expected to serve upward of 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation, according to a press release. The venue will operate from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday.

General admittance is free, but hitting bays are rented by the hour with pricing varying based on time of day for a group of up to six players. The fees include $25 an hour from opening to noon, $35 an hour from noon to 5 p.m. and $45 an hour from 5 p.m. to close.
