David Nance releasing an LP on Ba Da Bing (stream the Merle Haggard cover)
Omaha musician David Nance is unknown to many but a cult DIY hero to others, known for making noisy, lo-fi, genre-defying jams on a beaten-up analog tape recorder. For his new album Negative Boogie, due out this week (7/14) via Ba Da Bing (pre-order), he upgraded to an actual studio but he hasn’t made his sound any more accessible. Negative Boogie is an album of noise, art punk, blues and more off-kilter sounds coming together to make one impossible-to-pigeonhole piece of work. We’re premiering “Silver Wings,” which is a Merle Haggard cover, but is miles away from the original. Listen below.
David and his band The David Nance Group begin a tour with an album release show in his hometown the day the album comes out, and they hit Brooklyn on July 29 at Alphaville with Honey, Staffers, and a solo PC Worship set (tickets). All dates are listed below.
