AUArts Video Wins Anvil Award

AUArts recent brand video "Why AUArts", filmed with our partner Studio Dialog took home the Anvil Award for Best Long Form Video at Ad Rodeo 2022.

The video shares the journey after art school of three Alumni: Su Ying Strang, BFA '10, Painting; Kyle Chow, BDes '09, Visual Communication Design and Honorary MFA Jeff de Boer, Dip '88, Jewellery and Metals. Also featured is Alum Andrew Holloway, BFA '20, Jewellery and Metals.

AUARTS RECOGNIZES HONORARY MFAS
AUArts announced Calgary visual artists Jeff de Boer and Ron Moppett as Honorary Master of Fine Arts degree recipients for 2022. Alum Jeff de Boer, Dip '88 Jewellery and Metals is best known for his authentic suits of armour for cats and mice and small jewellery to large public works. Alum Ron Moppett, Dip '65, Painting is recognized for his contemporary paintings in collections around the world.

CCAA INNOVATION AWARD FOR AUARTS STUDENT DESIGNED JERSEYS
Keyano College has won the Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) Innovation Award for the Huskies' new jerseys designed by AUArts Student and Fort Chipewyan Indigenous artist Emma Voyageur. Three jerseys debuted in February for the Keyano College Huskies basketball, soccer and volleyball sports teams. Read more: CCAA Award

AUARTS COMMUNITY DAY
On Saturday, May 28, AUArts held its first annual Community Day on campus. Several hundred visitors attended the in-person event to view the annual graduating students' exhibition in the Illingworth Kerr Gallery. For those who couldn't attend, the exhibition can be viewed online at Grad Show 2022.

CONVOCATION 2022
Alberta University of the Arts held Convocation 2022 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Thursday, May 26 for the first time since May 2019. Celebrating 96 years of art, craft, design education AUArts welcomed graduates from 2021 and 2020 to join the grads of 2022 on stage during the live celebrations.

NEWS | tīná gúyáńí (deer road in Tsuut'ina) collective (Alum seth cardinal dodginghorse BFA '19, Painting and Glenna Cardinal) were recognized in the 2022 Sobey Art Award Longlist in the Prairies and North region.

NEWS | Alumni Kat Simmers, BDes '17, VCD and Ryan Danny Owen, BFA '17, Drawing have been nominated for the The Nipper: The 2022 Doug Wright Award for Emerging Talent. This nomination is for "Pass Me By: Gone Fishin'" and "Pass Me By: Electric Vice".

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | AUArts Alumni are invited to submit artwork for consideration for "More Than a Party", a new exhibition at the ATB Branch for Arts + Culture on Stephen Avenue. This collaboration with ATB celebrates Pride, focuses on equality, honours self-expression and celebrates the victories and advocates for 2SLGBTQ+. Apply by July 24.
