Contra Costa Investigation Ends With 9 Arrests

The nine suspects face numerous charges including gang and narcotics violations and felon in possession of a firearm.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- Nine people were arrested recently following an investigation into a Contra Costa County gang suspected of transferring firearms illegally, officials announced Monday. The suspects are being held on various charges including conspiracy, gang and narcotics violations, and weapons’ charges including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an assault rife, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and illegal transfer of a firearm, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department.

The investigating, which was led by the Contra Costa County Anti-Violence Support Effort, officers seized one AK-47 style assault rifle, three handguns, high capacity magazines, cocaine, marijuana, and pills, officials said.

The investigation was assisted by other agencies including the California Department of Justice, U.S. Marshals, California Highway Patrol, Pittsburg Police Department, Walnut Creek Police Department and the Richmond Police Department.
