Sandy

These episodes are my favorite 15 minutes of the day each time they come out! Thanks, Ted. This was another stellar edition. The famous advice for all authors is: Write what you know. Bruce’s self-proclaimed “Magic trick” is his ability to write so personally, and yet so much of us is reflected in his lyrics. This is the case yet again with this song. At that point, “beach bum” Bruce’s world was so small, Sandy and what she represented was the whole universe to him. And yet, in some way, at some time, all inhabited this world, too. PS. Great job pointing out his inflection on “forever..?” !
A great listen for Springsteen fans!

This a really an engaging listen for all fans of Springsteen. For me personally, the lyric is often what draws me in to a particular song and this is a nice listen because it’s always cool to hear what lyric draws others in and hearing their opinion & take on it. Great podcast!
A Remarkable Podcast

I didn’t just listen to this podcast, I devoured it. A remarkable idea beautifully executed by Ted Canova who is a talented and empathetic interviewer. I enjoyed each episode and challenged myself to find “that one lyric”. It isn’t easy. Highly recommended if you love music, Bruce and the magic of music.

Episode 4 Dreams of where he’s been

I love this song and that particular lyric always grabbed me. The discussion was insightful and gave me a new way of looking at many aspects of the songs and revealed many assumptions that I made about the song. For example, I always assumed the main character was returning from Viet Nam. But there is no mention of the war, any war for that matter, in the song.

The Andy Berke interview is exactly the kind of interview I want to hear from anyone holding or seeking office. Platforms are good. But what I want to know is how do you make decisions, how will you stand up when it’s easy not to. Hooked now.
That One Lyric

Ted Canova has brilliantly taken one lyric and expounds upon the depth and meaning behind that lyric for each of his guests - he is able to draw them out to share an experience that becomes a lesson for many of us. So privileged to be a fan of Ted’s and certainly Bruce’s. Thanks, Ted!
Great Podcast!

This is a fun podcast for any Bruce fan. It is fun to hear the different guests explain why a certain lyric is so important to them. Ted is a great host as well.
It’s always been the lyrics for me.

I really like this idea because I have always been taken in by lyrics. I was once told that men just listen to the music, only women care about the lyrics. Ted has proven that this assertion is nonsense. I have many songs from which I have one line that holds great meaning for me. Some have truly sustained me in the lowest moments and I use them now whenever I need their strength. I look forward to hearing more stories from my fellow lyric enthusiasts. Oh, and I love Bruce so that is a great place to start!
This is Genius Idea

I love love love this podcast. Right now music is a beautiful tool for uplifting the spirit. After listening to Ted Canova’s that one lyric it opened my eyes, and ears to an entirely new way to listen to music. By paying closer attention to the lyrics you can see how thoughtful and introspective the words to Springsteen’s songs can be, and how the listeners interpret and relate depending on what they were going through when they hear a song that resonates for them. It’s human nature at its finest. Can’t wait to hear more!
