NCRF Student Intern Scholarship

The NCRF Student Intern Scholarship is a $2,000 award given annually to four high-achieving court reporting/captioning students who have completed the internship portion of their education.

The National Court Reporters Association awards scholarships without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Grant requirements

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for the NCRF Student Intern Scholarship, students must meet the criteria below:

  • Be a current NCRA student member;
  • Be enrolled in a stenographic court reporting/captioning program;
  • Have been an intern in the past 12 months in any of the three career paths: Judicial (official or freelance), CART, or captioning. (If in a judicial court reporting program, must have passed at least one of the program’s Q & A tests at a minimum of 190 wpm; if in a CART or captioning program, must have passed at least one of the program’s literary tests at a minimum of 160 wpm);
  • Have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 overall based on a 4.0 standard or equivalent;
  • Possess all the qualities exemplified by a professional court reporter/captioner, including professional attitude, demeanor, dress, and motivation as confirmed in a letter of recommendation.

 

 

How to apply

The following documents are required to be submitted for application:

  • Student Intern Nomination Form;
  • A copy of the student's most recent transcript;
  • A letter of recommendation from an instructor or intern supervisor;
  • An essay of 300-500 words on the topic:
