I love books. I love to hold books, look at books, hoard books, buy too many books, and most importantly read books. I decided one day that instead of letting characters act out the day inside my head, that I would put them down on paper. Thus, the birth of Pressing Flowers, my first self-published novel.

I couldn't stop there. Dear Anna is my first psychological thriller, followed by the prequel Love, Jane. Grab them now!

"DEAR ANNA,

I found out about your affair with my husband. The posts on your social media pages ranting about sister solidarity feel like a slap in the face".

Dear Anna by Katie Blanchard

Dear fellow readers:

For every fan of psychological thrillers who complains about the endless bad ones, do yourself a favor and read "Dear Anna" and you will see sifting through the bad to get to the great is worth it.

So this book..I do not even know what to SAY about it not how to review without giving spoilers. This might be a long one. I finished last night and have so many thoughts swirling around in my head.

First off..great. Second off..this book wins the award for "best last sentence of an ending in a book by anyone ever". Period. I mean that.

So this is a story of loss. And of lies. And of betrayal and madness and stepping over the line. It is the story of Madeia.

She's been married to John the dickhead for many many years. And now, after all this time, she finds he is cheating. He is cheating with Anna.

Doing more then cheating though. You see Dickhead owns a company and has lots of money. He wants to leave his wife for Anna but does not want wifey poo to come for his money. So what to do.

If you guessed murder..you'd be WRONG!

Madeia of coarse finds out all of this. And she is not a happy camper. She has given up everything..her family, her career, any hopes of having friends..to live like a Stepford wife, forever smiling and serving dickhead, with a concentration on making Dickhead's life just picture perfect.

She will not take this treatment lying down.

This is a battle of wills story but so much more. It is perhaps the best of the best when it comes to book group discussion books. It makes the reader ask the characters..and themselves..some hard questions.

I used to be in a book group where one of the people who ran it always said no mysteries were allowed to be selected. Her reasoning was..that mysteries were about who did it and after finding that out, there is nothing to talk about.

I disagreed with her. I disagree strongly. Sometimes, in my humble opinion, there is nothing better for a book group to discuss then a mystery. Of coarse there will be some not worth discussing, she is right about that. But not all of them. And not this book. This is MADE for a book group discussion.

I cannot really say alot without spoilers. The unexpected friendship of Media and Jane was so engaging. And also..many readers will not like this..but I did feel sorry for Anna. She was a nasty person doing despicable things but that scene with her and her mother was really painful and one I would not wish on anyone. It also, in my view, explains much about why Anna is the way she is.

I loved the "Dear Anna" journals which really made the sinister feeling grow and grow.

Taking the high road..could that have happened in this story? What about revenge of a different nature?

If there was one thing I did not like..or wanted more of....it was dickhead. I wanted to know what Media or Anna or anyone EVER SAW IN HIM! I did not get it He was rich yeah but also humorless, nasty, petty, emotionally abusive and a creep.

I would have liked to see their early years together just so I could have understood what she saw in Dickhead because I sure didn't see it. What was in him to love? What was in him period besides an oversize ego and a pathetic manipulative brain? As you may have guessed..I am not John's biggest fan.

Part of the fun of this book is you are never sure any moment what IS going to happen. You HAVE to know. I was up ALL night reading this. It was a wonderful read.

SPOILERS: STOP READING PLEASE IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK:

I hoped against hope she did not choose that path she took. For a guy like dickhead, I hoped she would tape him and go to the newspapers or something. Humilation..a wonderful choice.

As it stands, her choice doomed her because she got her revenge but also doomed her soul to a life of nightmares, sorrow and self loathing. It was not what I had wanted for her.

That ending..it sent a chill down my spine. Is there a GR category for best ending sentence? because this writer deserves it.

In closing..read it. You will really think about it afterwards and if you like books that have the reader asking hard questions of themselves and the characters, this is your dream book.

"Don't be fooled by what you see. I'm not a dumb trophy wife"... one of this summer's best revenge novels is soon to hit your shelf! When Medeia realizes she is trapped in a no good, stifling marriage, she takes her life into her own hands - even if her prenup states she is entitled to nothing in the event of a divorce. She has worked long and hard to be the wife John can display in front of his friends and employees - "the heels may hurt, but their red bottoms let the world know that you have it all." Finding her husband deep in an affair with his secretary, Medeia takes to exercising at the local gym - meeting her new friend Jane. Jane and Medeia are soon to discover how much they truly have in common. Strong female bonds, manipulation, and a will to survive drive this story and keeps you turning the pages until the end. This debut psychological thriller is a quick read with storyline that will both anger you and find you battling your feelings on right and wrong until the end!

Medeia Moore changed her whole life to be with her husband, she changed her clothes, her hair and cut off contact with her siblings to live a better life. All seemed to be going well until one day before her husband's birthday, she saw him with his secretary Anna. They were getting cozy after lunch. Medeia soon learns he is cheating on her with Anna. Over the next course of the novel, Medeia will try and plan an escape route so she is left with something. During this time, she also stalks Anna and discovers all about her life, her cheating and how she uses men for her own good. During this time Medeia makes a new friend with a woman who was in a similar situation. One night, Medeia follows Anna and her husband and learns of their plan to make her crazy and kill herself. From then something inside of Medeia snaps and she soon realizes that it's every person for themselves and unless she wants to end up six feet under or stuck in an institution for the rest of her life, she has to come up with a plan of her own. So starts the plan to kill Anna herself and frame her husband for it. Dear Anna, was a fast paced book and I loved the different character developments for all the female characters including the supporting ones of Medeia's friend and Anna's friend. If you love psychological thrillers and romantic suspense and enjoy the TV show How to Get Away with Murder then Dear Anna by Katie Blanchard is the book for you.

Holy cow!!! This book was AMAZING!!!! Definitely on my list for top reads of this year. This isn't a romance, it's classified as a psychological thriller, and rightfully so. This will fuck with your head, but in the most delicious way possible. It's definitely a thriller, you won't be able to put this book down. There's not really any twists, except for the very last sentence of the book, which I'm still crazy over.

The main character in this book is fucking insane. Her husband is cheating on her, so she decides to do whatever it takes to get revenge. And a crazy bitch makes for an entertaining story. You're reading and you're thinking, "Is this bitch for real?" and the answer is yes, she's for real.

I cannot sing this book's praises enough. It was a roller coaster ride of epic proportions and I just finished it yesterday and I already want to read it again. I loved this book. This is the first book from this author that I've read, and I so hope she writes some more psychological romances, because this was one hell of a read.

Twisty and dark, the main character of Medeia is one that will stay with me for a long time. There are no Mary Sue characters in this book - everyone has flaws. It’s a haunting tale and one that I truly enjoyed reading!

"Dear Anna,
Allow me to introduce myself.
I'm a smart bitch from the streets, not a doll in a Versace dress. That's the role that I've been playing. I have done a lot of horrible things to obtain money in my life. Killing you and John won't even come close to the worst.
I have covered up my father's crimes just so my family could have groceries for a week. A week. That's all the money it took to motivate my father to mug someone. He even hurt a man so severely that he died three days later, just for enough cash to buy one bottle of gin. That's it.
Don't be fooled by what you see. I'm not a dumb trophy wife."

This is a tale of an abused and scorned woman's revenge. And quite honestly it's probably the best psychological thriller I have read all year.

Medeia is the oppressed wife of John Moore, he doesn't let her have a job, have friends he hasn't pre-approved and has convinced her that her family are no good. His consistent berating comments which he insists are only 'looking out for her' go a small way to show the extent of how emotionally abusive and controlling John is to Medeia. Medeia thought she was the perfect wife, following her husband's rules and responding accurately to his moods in soothing, placating tones. Until she caught him cheating on her with his secretary, Anna. What is a traditional husband-shags-secretary tale soon becomes a story of the Survival of the Fittest, and Medeia strives to exact her revenge on them both.

I have never rooted for someone more as I have rooted for Medeia. She is the socially awkward, slightly morbid, intelligent character I could easily be best friends with. Reading about her plight and her journey of what and how she should have her revenge are possibly the most fun I have had with a thriller.

The plot developed exactly how I wanted it to, the stakes were high for everyone, the tension was thick, and through it all Medeia had to play the perfect wife to John whilst plotting his demise. The creepy notes to Anna were the cherry on top of a pretty filling cake.

All in all, Dear Anna by Katie Blanchard is amazing. Each character gets what they deserved and the story stays intense and engaging throughout.

Thank you to Net Galley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Holy cow! Dear Anna had everything I look for in a book. This story sucked me in from that very first page. The notes to Anna were seriously perfect and the workings of a veteran author—not someone writing their first thriller.

Blanchard’s words were flawless. Every bit of this story flowed smoothly and effortlessly. I’ve never rooted for a character like I did Medeia. She was a scorned wife with a horrible, horrible excuse for a husband. This author’s mind was so dark and twisted, the way she was able to pull you into this story is something to be admired.

Seriously. I devoured this book and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Claustrophobic. Terrifying. Intoxicating. This book had it all. Mark my words, y’all: Blanchard is an author to watch.

This was really really good! It really held my interest and I really enjoyed it. There are not many twists, which sometimes is almost a welcome. Just a straightforward revenge novel with a strong female friendship and a serious douche bag of a husband at the center. I just got her prequel to this one in the mail and am excited to start it soon!

This is a tale of an abused and scorned woman. I love a story about revenge, seeing just how far someone will go to get back at someone they feel has done them wrong never ceases to amaze me. As soon as I saw this book I knew I had to read it. And sure enough Katie Banchard did not let me down ! She out did herself writing her first ever psychological thriller.

So right away in this fast paced novel, we learn Medeia's husband is cheating on her with his secretary Anna. Her rich husband John is abusive and controling . She is not allowed to work or have friends. He isolates her from the world. He even makes her see a shrink and take meds. His goal is to make her think she is crazy so he can have her committed into an insane asylum . He is greedy and wants to make sure she gets none of his money. John however has no idea what it is like to have a woman scorned.

It is written from only one perspective, (Medeia's) so it is very easy to follow. This was my first time reading a book by Katie Banchard . This fast paced, heart racing thriller will have you quickly flipping the pages to see what is going to happen next. Once you pick up Dear Anna you will not be able to put it down so don't start it before you go to bed unless you want to be up all night. You will love and hate Medeia as you go with her on her journey to get revenge on Anna and her husband John. With vows broken and a prenup staring her in the face, Medeia refuses to go back to the shack of her childhood nightmares. Even if it means more bloodshed. The question is who's blood will it be.

Will Medeia succeed in her plan for revenge before they can have her committed?
Is Medeia really sane ? Or is she insane as her husband keeps telling her ?
Not 1 but 2 people die in this book. One is murdered the other takes their own life . Is Medeia one of them ?

The Dear Anna letters through out the whole book was such a perfect touch. They really let you see into Medeia mind and give it kind of a creepy feel.

All of the characters are very well developed . Even the one friend Medeia made along the way. I hope this authors writes another book with these two women .

As always if you like the book you read please take the time to leave a review for the author in places like goodreads & Amazon. It does not have to be long. Just a few sentences saying you liked the book will do. Authors really appreciate every review they get ! Dear Anna goes on sale July 16.

No character was particularly charming in this book. Our heroine although came from a sad background didn’t really elicit too much sympathy from me. (Basically for money she dropped her family. Sure we are told it was the douchebag husband who isolated her but he did it all by dangling money. Her circumstances were not that dire for her to jump for it - she was working and managing to support herself and her younger siblings.)

Therefore it really wasn’t out of support for the heroine that I was rooting for her to get away with her outrageous plan...but more for the fact that the cheater husband was vile.

Oh. My. God. I read the the plot to this and thought this seems like a fun weekend read. What I didn’t plan was to sit for 11 hours straight on my couch reading the whole thing! Ha! It was THAT good. A woman wants revenge on her husband for having an affair with his secretary. Sounds basic enough but what follows is anything but! This book is clever, unique and had some nail biting moments! One of my favorites of the year so far!! Run don’t walk when this book comes out! Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced ebook!!

"I grab the apple slicer and hold it up proudly. He rolls his eyes. I want to take the device down his penis and cut it into five even pieces with the middle sorted out. Give Anna more things to suck on this evening when I thoughtfully send the parts to her in a large envelope mailer."

This bitch crazy.

I liked this book. It was gripping and I absolutely love scorned women who are out for revenge.

I had hoped it would be a 5 star read.
But it had something missing in the plot. Although I don't know what 🤔 if I had any brain cells left today I would like to believe I would have given a more intellectually stimulating and logical reason as to what was missing however I don't have those brain cells left. I just used the remaining few writing those big words.
So....

Holy crap I devoured this book!! Had to put it down to work or else I would have read it in one sitting.

It was the perfect length of a book. Not too long. The right amount of words. You know when they just ramble on and on about nothing... fillers? Well there isn’t any of that in this book. Everything is relevant to the story and what happens.

Madeira “s character opens up so much in this book. She goes from poor as dirt take charge older sister to submissive wife for money to taking care of herself at the end. It’s quite amazing to see her change for the better. Do I agree with the way she decides to take matters into her own hands and the cheating but it had to be said.

Very well written. The characters were spot on. You’ll love Jane!! And well John Moore speaks for himself.

Well done!! Well done!!

This book totally left me with all the feels. This book is about an abused woman who gets revenge on her husband once he sleeps with his secretary.. he tried to keep her as naive as he could by making her cut off all family members and friends but little did her husband know that she saw him with his secretary getting awful cozy. Revenge will be gotten and karma never felt so good. I loved how this book was only one perspective ( the wife’s) which helped me to stay connected to the story. This book will have you up all night long reading. It flowed nicely and was very engrossing. This is a domestic thriller at its absolute best, thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book for my honest opinion. #Netgalley

"He wanted me to have everything I desired back then, and I was so enamored with it that I didn’t realize I would be giving parts of my soul away as payment."

Dear Anna was my first book by Katie Blanchard and I must admit I am pretty impressed. You would NEVER know this was her first taste of writing a physiological thriller. I loved everything about this story. Everything about this book captured my interest until the very end. Each page was a fast paced, and emotionally charged read. I could NOT devour the words fast enough. You are warned, once you start you can NOT stop. This story was everything it promised to be, thrilling, mind blowing and suspenseful. I could not get enough of the Fear Anna letters. They added a unique, haunted vibe that went perfectly with this story. I can NOT praise the author enough for such a twisted, edge of your seat plot. I am still reeling over that ending. Like really, I am speechless. This book took me places I never expected, but made me love every minute of it. Buckle up readers, Madeia definitely takes you on a wild ride of manipulation, you simply can NOT get enough of.

"Weakness is a filthy layer on my body that I am dying to shed."

Medeia is a scorned wife with everything to lose, but everything to gain. Her character takes you on a emotionally charged ride that you can not get enough of. Her desire and need for revenge is down right captivating. Was her character crazy? Yes, but honestly that's what made me like her Madeia the most. She gave up everything for her sorry husband John. He deserved what he got, and I would be lying if I didnt say I found myself rooting her character on. Madeia is hands down going down in my book of bad*ss heroines to read.

"What makes another so fascinating that they're worth ripping your spouse's heart out. Why is it worth dying for?"

*4 STARS*
Well earned for this heart pounding psychological thriller. If you are looking for a dark, twisted read to get your mind racing this story is for you! Dear Anna definitely made my list of top reads in 2019.

Two days to read this book, definitely a five star read. What a ride in this book. John is rich and life for Medeia was great - nice house, lots of money, even a chef. But John was controlling her to the point she could not have friends, a job or her own opinion.

But the worst of it all is John was cheating on her. Medeia couldnt divorce him because of a prenup that would strip her of any money. And she wasnt going back to the poverty she came from. So she devises a plan to get rid of Anna and get the life she really deserves.

This page turner was great. Every chapter kept you wanting more. Definitely going to read her other book. #KindleUnlimited

Wow! What a thriller, action packed, exciting, riveting, powerful. Oh men, beware your betrayed spouse!

Medeia is married to John, a very wealthy successful businessman who has groomed her in more ways than one. Gone is the poor girl with a dubious family with little or nothing; she is now the trophy wife with impeccable grooming, taste and charm. But John has groomed her in the negative sense as well. Gone is her job, gone is her family (they are not good enough), gone are all her friends, gone is her confidence. He is the arch emotional abuser using his superior position to keep her in place, controlling her life, critical of everything about her, what she eats, her appearance her inability to cope; even controlling her interaction with her therapist. A therapist he deemed she needed after the death of her mother (killed by her father) when she was grief-stricken.

Then one day Medeia discovers that he is cheating with his secretary Anna. So she turns detective, following Anna, tracking her movements until she discovers just how involved they are. Divorce is the answer but she discovers the pre-nup will ensure she gets nothing and she cannot return to her life of poverty and nothing. So she devises a plot and what a great plot!

I loved the structure of the plot not only do we have this revealed through the text but we also have Medeia’s letters to Anna which gives more background to what is happening. Loved the character of Medeia obviously, but also Jane just wonderful. Really clever, enthralling and exciting, loved it. Just one thing, I was really, really worried about the one teardrop that Medeia let fall in the warehouse – is that going to be her undoing? Great book, great read, many thanks.

Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

WOW!!! OMG!!! This is my first book by Katie Blanchard and I will be following her to see whatever else she writes. This book was awesome. As you read from the blurb Medeia is married to John, a wealthy man. The opening chapter is you seeing Media watching her husband having an intimate lunch with his secretary Anna, hence the name of the book. Media gave up everything to be married to John and then to find out he his cheating on her is devastating. But, that is not all. She finds out that with his secretary they plan to get her committed to an insane asylum so he can be rid of her. Well, Media is not taking this sitting down. As the book progresses, the author keeps the suspense increasing chapter by chapter as to what Media plans to do. And besides the fact, she has signed a pre nup which means if she divorces him she comes away with nothing and Media is not going back to that kind of life.
So she plots and plans, Media how to escape this situation and come out the winner. No spoilers here. Just read this book. It was a true psychological thriller. I would like to thank net galley for this ARC I received for an honest review.

Wow. What a suspenseful thrill ride. Medeia discovers her rich, controlling husband is cheating on her with his secretary. But with an iron clad prenup, divorce is out of the question. What's a girl to do? Murder, of course.

I didn't care for the ending. It seemed hastily thrown together. But the journey to get there was well thought out, well written, and fun to read. I couldn't put it down. Nicely done.

From the first page, you are sucked right into the story starting with Medeia’s Journal of Dear Anna letters. These letters give the story a nice touch, giving you an insight inside the main character’s state of mind. Medeia is the perfect wife to her husband, John. She’s cut off everything she has ever known to become exactly what John wants. Only problem is, John gets greedy and sleeps with his secretary, Anna. Now Medeia, a woman done wrong, is faced with a decision: Walk away with nothing or seek revenge?

This novel is packed with suspense and keeps you turning the page. Katie Blanchard took the time and effort to plot out the scenes within the book and lay down the groundwork for her first suspense novel. The story was fast paced and the words flowed smoothly, bringing to life a woman done wrong and seeking the revenge she was looking for.

Dear Anna will have you staying up all night just to see what happens next in Katie Blanchard’s first thriller novel.
Medeia is the main character who has become the perfect wife to her husband John. John has Medeia cut off any ties from her old life, including family, friends and even going as far as to play on her depression. John, however, doesn’t fill his wife in on his afternoon delight, Anna. John not only has the perfect wife, but also the perfect affair or at least he thinks so. Hell bent on seeking revenge, Medeia begins to plan the best way to make John pay for his missteps in their not so perfect marriage.

How will Medeia make John pay and still walk away with everything?
June 28, 2019
From the beginning of the book, you are sucked right in and you cannot put it down until you finish this book. This book is action packed, with suspense and excitement about what happens next.

Medeia is the wife of John, a man cheating on her with his secretary Anna. He keeps Medeia from having a job, friends and basically from being herself. Medeia, being from the sticks, goes along with these things John does not allow her to do, thinking she is being the wife he wants her to be. Until....she catches him cheating on her with his Anna.

From the start, you are rooting for Medeia. You follow her along the course of action she has decided to take, wondering "Will she succeed?" The plot of this book was carefully planned out and keeps you engaged from start to finish. I have read thriller books but none as articulate as this thriller. My most favorite part of the entire book, was the creepy letters written to Anna. This took "Dear Anna" to a whole different level of suspense.
