The Artist Life – Part 1

Hi,

I hope all is well on your end.

We honor & praise the creativity & genius of some of the Black Artists I’m about to mention. But how many people know without a more than determined mindset, these artists would have given up early in their careers. None of them were encouraged too much by friends, families or communities. But, when they became famous, all previous categories rode in hard then.

The life of Artists…is never easy. The beauty of art is honored & praised by people all around the world. It is inspirational, beautiful, creative, & many powerful things. But, at the bottom of art, many times is pain. What do I mean by pain? Artists are tuned into the universe in a special way. They have a heighten sense of awareness. They have a connection with infinite energies. How else would the creativity of the artists transcend the mundane/average things in life?

Zora Neale Hurston. She is famous for her writings. World Known. How many people know she did not even have money to pay a typesetter to type out the long hand writings or mail off the manuscript to her first novel. She had to borrow money to mail the manuscript. She died broke & lonely in a home in Florida. And when I say home, I’m not talking about a home home. I’m talking about a Center.

Richard Wright. His family thought he was wasting his time worrying writing about when he was a teen. Read “Black Boy”. His mother & grandmother, and other family members, friends, & teachers felt the same way. But he was encouraged by a newspaper editor as a teen. But the newspaper wanted to run his stories, & cheat him on his pay.

Gordon Parks at one time was homeless. Kicked out of his sisters house because he was young, smart, ambitious, creative as a teen. His mother died when he was about 14. Had to go stay with his older Sister. His Brother-in-law beat him up & kicked him out in the cold snow of winter, and threw his only clothes out right behind him in a suitcase.

Langston Hughes. Worked 2-3 jobs coming up & going after a writing career. Very smart. Loved learning. Had big dreams of being a famous writer. Not encouraged much, if at all. But he kept on after his passion. Writing. Sometimes, way behind in rent. Got kicked out of various apartments. Denied jobs. He got so frustrated, he just wanted to get away. Broken dreams. Became a sailor. As much as he loved learning, books, & writing, now off at sea as a sailor, he took his books and threw them in the open sea. Whoever thought of Langston picking up his pen again. But, he found his way back to his craft.

The struggles of artists. The sacrifice of artists. The frustrations of artists, the lack of encouragement of artists, the frustration of artists. So much negativity in the life of artists.

In more Recent Times, because I don’t want people to think I’m only talking about–“Way Back In The Day”

Listen to the “The College Dropout” by Kanye West. Listen to it real close. Break down the words of the entire album. Go beneath the words. The Metaphorical words. Go into the Literal words, go below them too. What is he saying? Read his mother’s book “Raising Kanye.”— Kanye West. Lyrical Genius. Producer/Beat Maker. Audio Engineer. How much was he encouraged in his craft coming up? Look into his history. All Kanye wanted was a keyboard wt sound effects as a Teen. He heard music in his soul. Words in his soul. Was nobody going deny him, no matter how close.

Who inspires the Black artists, helps the artists, support the artists. Very few in the beginning & middle years/–the NOT YET DISCOVERED by THE WHITE MAN YEARS?

Black Artists works inspire the World. But all that Creativity & Brilliance don’t always come from Happiness & Beauty. DEEP Down in the heart of all the frustrations of doing the craft of the ARTISTS–is Love. Love for a Better World. Love of Freedom, Justice & Equality.

…the end for now. To be continued. Stay tuned for Part II.
