Kinaxia Logistics implements FORS as Standard across the Group

general 31 October 2017

Kinaxia Logistics has chosen FORS, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, as the framework to manage work related road safety, efficiency, and environmental impacts, as the Group sets a clear standard for its commercial vehicle operations.

It has been the task of Trevor Dickenson, Group Health, Safety and Compliance Manager to implement a benchmark, and he has chosen to use FORS. "FORS helped identify the gaps," said Trevor. "It covers everything we need in terms of training, servicing, health and safety. The structure and framework has helped us create our own processes for fleet management."

FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme with members across the UK and Europe, and is increasingly being seen as the 'go-to' membership scheme to help operators go beyond compliance requirements and make real changes to become safer, more efficient and environmentally protective businesses. Its FORS Professional brand offers free training to members, including courses, FORS Practitioner workshops, eLearning modules, toolkits and more, offering robust training to help upskill members.

Kinaxia has also opened its own training centres, and is in the process of having its training approved by FORS to contribute to the requirements outlined in the FORS Standard.

"Training has been a big part of our push to drive down potential incidents, and we've found that drivers have really valued the investment.   It's also been important to show them that we take all incidents seriously, no matter how big or small, and these are discussed at board-level.   We need careful, compliant and considerate drivers and ultimately our customers benefit from such comprehensive training," said Trevor.

"Using the FORS Standard across the Group has also meant that no matter where the companies are located, or where the vehicles travel to, they are all implementing best practice."

Paul Wilkes, FORS Business Services Manager commented: "It is fantastic to hear that Kinaxia Logistics is using FORS to manage its fleet. We wish Kinaxia the best of luck as it works towards getting all eight companies FORS accredited, and progresses through the accreditation levels."

"FORS covers all aspects of fleet management and is applicable for companies nationwide that want to actively pursue higher standards, and improve operations. Raising standards in the industry is something that every haulier should aspire to, and as a voluntary accreditation scheme we are delighted when companies come to us, and use FORS as a roadmap to succeed."
