Some people are still unaccounted for.

The silence was an opportunity to remember the victims and express sympathy for their grieving families and also to demonstrate the nation's solidarity in the face of terrorism.

The Dean of Rochester Cathedral, Dr Philip Hesketh, kept the minute's silence at the War memorial outside the Cathedral on Rochester High Street.

A prayer station has also been set up inside the Cathedral.

Meanwhile, candles have been lit at Canterbury Cathedral to honour the victims.
