Melania Trump wore an ‘I Really Don’t Care, DO U?’ jacket to visit caged children

I was on Sudafed for much of Thursday, and before I walked away from the internet for a few hours, I saw that Melania Trump had gone on a surprise visit to a Texas border town to do or say something about the fact that her husband’s administration has stolen 2300-plus children and babies and put those children in cages. My thought, at the time, was “what kind of dumbass White House would send the First Lady to offer some half-assed, bullsh-t assistance to the children that her husband has been terrorizing for weeks?” As it turns out, that wasn’t the worst part. I only saw the worst part hours later, once my Sudafed high had worn down. This was the worst part:

Yes. Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States of America, traveled to see the caged babies with her own eyes while wearing a “I Really Don’t Care, DO U?” jacket. Yes. That really f–king happened. It’s not fake news, it’s not a doctored photo. Melania’s spokeswoman event confirmed that Melania wore that jacket, and this was the OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE FLOTUS OFFICE: “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.” Are you joking? As for what actually went down during her visit, she swanned around and wished “good luck” to the children in cages.

According to White House pool reports, Mrs. Trump toured two facilities run by the Department of Homeland Security during her trip to McAllen — the Ursula Border Patrol Processing Center, a Customs and Border Patrol intake center, and Upbring New Hope Children’s Shelter, a Health and Human Services grantee facility that currently houses about 60 kids (ages 5-17, though mostly teens) from Honduras and El Salvador.

Mrs. Trump spent a little over an hour with 55 children, most of whom were from Guatemala, at the Upbring New Hope Children’s Shelter. All but six of the children were unaccompanied minors, with the rest having been separated from their families, according to pool reports. She asked the children questions such as: “How long are you here?” “Where are you from?” and “Are you all friends?” As she left one classroom, she told the children, “Bye. Good luck.”

[From People]

“Good luck.” Good luck with that, you heartless bitch. Add to all of that… Melania Trump is a g-ddamn immigrant. She came to this country on a temporary visa and reportedly she didn’t follow all of the immigration laws either. She really doesn’t care. DO U?

Melania is a feckless cunt. So is Ivanka. Also anyone who’s outraged on these cunts behalf.

    • KNy says:

      +1 million

      • Bros says:

This is only a distraction so we don’t get outraged about the House GOP passing a bill that strips millions of kids of food stamps and guts medicare and medicaid. Wake up people and don’t get distracted by this nobody’s stupid jacket. Keep your eyes on the prize.

      • Bettyrose says:

        Bros,

Yep. An obvious and deliberate distraction. They’re really good at this.

      • Cranberry says:

        +1 million + + +

        @Bros

you’re right. I’ve been hearing about secret closed meetings Republicans are having about how they’re going to cut and gut welfare and ACA!

Call your representatives and news outlets, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, whoever about covering what these meetings are about ! !

Obviously people are still going to be outraged by the cruel jacket message. And it was obviously done purposely to Provoke and Distract! The jacket is retaliation from the orange house for him having to back down from separating families. Although zero tolerance is still being implemented and will continue to cause as much damage as they can to families and children, Trump only cares about his image and that he was made to look defeated and ineffective to his base.

The message of the jacket was to his base that although the fake news and libs won this round, and he had to publicly back down and try to recover some image of a human being, he Really Does-Not-Care. Message received! (by everyone)
The meaning of the jacket is a big “f*ck U” to the media, Democrats and protesters for causing him humiliation and public defeat.

The message and meaning is very clear everybody. These people are exactly what they are, deplorable children. So don’t be so surprised and derailed by it.
They Are trying to sneak something really bad passed the American people just like they did with the tax bill. Get the media to start talking about it. Start making inquiries.
We are under siege. Good luck everyone.

I literally was stunned when I saw that…jaw droppedly stunned. It STILL is making me shake my head. How does someone lose their soul, their humanity, so very completely?? I just don’t get it… Everytime something new happens, and I think they can’t sink any further, I am truly amazed and depleted 😞😩

      • Mel M says:

        @Bros
100% correct. This woman never wears anything $40 so why start now? Why this? You have to seek something like this out and in her closet full of diagner clothes this was so obvliously on purpose.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        I don’t know…..I’m not buying that it’s this straight forward…..

Is there any chance this woman is saying something else here?

        We know a few things:
        1) She hates her husband
        2) She can’t criticize him too directly
        3) She already made a statement condemning this
        4) If She really didn’t care, why bother showing up at all?
        5) If She didn’t care, why would she be stupid enough to draw attention to that fact in such a strident way?
        6) As has been mentioned, Zara normally wouldn’t even be anywhere near her wardrobe or consciousness….so this is a pointed message she’s sending.
        7) Has she coordinated with her husband on anything at all these last few years? Why would this suddenly be the first time?

I actually think there’s a chance she’s attempting to send an antonymical message (from a muzzled woman) in the only way she can right now. I feel like she may have been attempting this for a while with her (rather weak) anti bullying “campaign”.

If I were Mueller, I would start talking to this woman. She just you may have one or two secrets to whisper.

      • Cranberry says:

        @Bella

That’s what many of the media outlets are trying to suggest, but sorry that’s just dumb even for barely-speaks-english Melania. That jacket was worn for the cameras. She didn’t have to go that far to stick out her tongue at Trump in some sort of covert “stand” against him.
She does not have any political/ideological stand, but she does have her own self interest to protect. She has no power to take such a pseudo public strike at him. Not only is he too powerful for her to take on, but she’d also have the rest of his powerful friends and loyalists to deal with if she ever were to go rogue. Also if she becomes too much trouble, Trump can divorce her and possibly take Barron away from her. Trump always has iron clad prenups and being that she’s basically a non-english speaking immigrant, it’s likely he holds the threat of taking primary custody of Barron over her head. Yes she has rights and can fight him in court, but Trump’s been down that road before and won. Plus he plays hard and dirty. She knows he can make her like even more misserable. It’s no sweat off his back. He lives off this kind of drama and loses not sleep over it. Just look at the traumatized immigrant children. The jacket said to the world “[He] Don’t Care, Do U?”.

The only thing that probably deters him from opening that can of worms is the massive hassle it will be for him and not worth the effort unless she were to be a real threat to him. But it still is an option for him that he can hold over her. And he doesn’t have to worry about losing his base. They’re with him to the end and could give a sh*t about her. Hell maybe that will be his next big drama to occupy the entire media landscape while Mueller tries to indict.

Also, when Melania returned to the Orange House she was uncommonly walked down a path in front of the press. Apparently she and other family members and close aides never take that path because of it’s exposure tot he press crews parked right there. The jacket was only worn to and from the WH and airport so the press would take pics. When she returned to WH, she went Directly to his office where Trump, Kelly Anne Conway and some other person received her. It’s pretty clear this was their, Trump & friends, plan that they had Melania perform as she has done several times before although not so cruedly.

      • nicole says:

        Stupid cunt at that.

    • darkladi says:

      Co-sign

    • StartupSpouse says:

“There was no hidden message.” She’s right. It was explicit.

      • Beth says:

Her spokesperson said it wasn’t a hidden message, but Donnie contradicted that in a tweet saying it was a message about the “fake news media “

      • smcollins says:

@startupspouse Exactly! My husband & I were talking about this and I said the thing. “That’s right, there’s no hidden message because it’s LITERALLY written across her back!”
And add me to the list of co-signers on Diana’s post. Feckless cunt, indeed.

      • Bella DuPont says:

As soon as the Trump people made the statement saying: “There was no hidden message.”

…..I realised there IIIISSSSS a hidden message. Like a Pavlovian dog, my brain has been trained to believe the opposite of everything these pathological liars say.

      • PrincessK says:

Well people who have met Melania do say that she is not the sharpest knife in the box, so I think that she is being manipulated.

    • Really? says:

Can someone please lock her up? I mean, she didn’t follow immigration laws either.

    • Megan says:

She went to a long term shelter for unaccompanied minors run by a church. She didn’t bother to see the kids in warehouses and tents run by for profit contractors. As for her jacket, she doesn’t wear clothes that cost $39 unless it is advertise her cruelty and lack of compassion. She is complicit in the torture of children.

      • Swack says:

My first thought on the shelter she saw. A shelter run by a church with less than 100 children in it. This was not unplanned (I believe) and she didn’t go to a facility that houses over 1000. Of course the children at this facility have it good.

      • Kitten says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if it WAS a message to the media. The thing is, these people don’t care about optics. They are privileged, entitled, and self-centered. I wouldn’t be surprised if she put that jacket on as an FU to the media without thinking for even one second about how it would look to be wearing that on a trip to visit child concentration camps. She wasn’t thinking about those kids at all, only about herself and her own perceived victimhood.

        Typical of this whole family.

      • boredblond says:

Her visit to this small facility is equivalent to visiting the jail in Mayberry and announcing that we’ve studied the prison population…and in a jacket favored by young teens playing cool- girl- dress-up..she’s just a big ol’ plastic programmed troll.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

        Exactly. Hyperbolic title.

She never saw the worst of it.

      • Meeee says:

THIS!!! She never went to see the kids in the cages.

      • Pandy says:

Yes, the shelter has been operational since 2004 … it’s not the walmart “deluxe” shelter of course. A nice, sanitized, well-run shelter where she won’t dirty her white jeans.

    • magnoliarose says:

Feckless is much too kind. MelT cares about nothing but her new implants, budget wigs and of course money.

    • ImAlreadyGone says:

I sincerely hope this will put to rest the whole ‘Poor Melania’ narrative. She’s disgusting.

    • rabbitgirl says:

This! People outraged at the use of the word cunt have clearly not been paying attention. If there was ever a time to use such a word, describing these vapid, heartless cunts is that time

      • Jan90067 (aka imqrious2) says:

^^^^^THIS!!! +1,000,000. Not enough loathing in the world to cover it.

    • French Girl says:

      Agree

    • AnnaKist says:

      Diana, I think I love you. 💖

Melanomia wore a $39 jacket?! I’ll bet those things they stick between her toes while she has her toenails painted cost more than $39… This woman is a complicit cunt, just like her husband’s daughter. I hope she joins them all in the orange jumpsuit fashion parade, and it cannot come soon enough. “Good luck”? “GOOD LUCK”?? This thing is devoid of any humanity. What she should be doing is yelling at that steaming pile of garbage she calls her “husband”, and telling him to release each and every one of the children he has put in a cage – IMMEDIATELY. But, no, she swans about in a $39 jacket with its pointed message, doing his dirty work and trying to make it appear like she’s a saintly, caring visitor. Like everyone else, I am utterly sickened by this bitch’s unmitigated gall. I hope the images of these children disturb her sleep for the rest of her days, but somehow, I doubt they’ll have the slightest effect on her. My god. Make it stop. Please.

    • applepie says:

Except cunts are useful and beautiful. She is neither 😊

    • Ronaldinhio says:

The Queen of Spain was staying and so Melania’s stylist had picked a few things from Zara to show her appreciation of Spanish fashion whilst trying to do some High Street look at me
The coat will have been placed on Melania

I doubt she’ll have had any idea what it said, really.
Her stylist may have but will probably have pulled it weeks ago and fixed the waist etc

    • BooBooLaRue says:

Oh wow, came here to say as much. I have no words for her. And the rest of this hateful crew.

  2. Snappyfish says:

This was a classic “look over here”moment. Talk about this and not the atrocities of my husband’s administration, or the Russian collusion or money laundering or porn star payoffs…LOOK OVER HERE

I have no sympathy for any of these craven creatures outside of Barron. They are Trash

    • Belluga says:

Absolutely. I didn’t think their efforts to distract the media could get less subtle than they already were.

She didn’t even get photographed with any children.

We need to be pressing them on how they’re actually going to reunite the children they stole when those kids are all over the country now.

      And WHERE ARE THE GIRLS?

      • Megan says:

The government has admitted they collected no identifying information from the parents or the children. Short of DNA tests, there is no way to reunite these families. Not to mention the law requires parents to find their own kids. So non-English speaking parents with no understanding of the US system have to find their own kids. Think about that.

      • Jan90067 (aka imqrious2) says:

Oh dear God…a horrible thought…. you don’t think they’re trafficking the girls, do you??? Could they get away with that????

      • Aren says:

My mom mentioned this as soon as the story came out. “How many of those kids are going to go ‘missing'”? We won’t know until maybe 30 or 40 years later.

      • Sarah says:

Jan, I am sorry to say you are not the first person to voice that fear.

    • Cherry says:

Is it working, though? I think now people are even more outraged.

    • Betsy says:

This. But it’s a new diversion, and a fairly bold one (try, try, try to imagine Michelle or Laura wearing this and you’ll be reminded how back in Real America and not Upside Down America this is largish offense) which suggests there’s something newer or different they’re trying to distract from.

      • Jan90067 (aka imqrious2) says:

It’s like we’re living in the Bizarro World, in the old Superman comics. An alternate universe… How do we ever get back to “our” world?

    • Ankhel says:

“Look over here at us, proclaiming we are monsters?” Odd diversion tactic. BTW, US, after these last days, every excuse is off the table. These people are wannabe dictators and dangerous loons. Get rid of them while there’s still time. This IS Hitler in the 30’s.

      • Kitten says:

It really is. We have to stop acting like the comparisons are hyperbolic. There have been some incredibly interesting (and terrifying) Twitter threads from people who have studied the Holocaust as well as from people who have written books about dictators. The comparisons are accurate. We are several steps along the way, too.

      • Darla says:

        dup post

      • Darla says:

IT’s happening and right out in the open. It seems to me that too many people do not realize these are camps and these children are being abused, and this is the worst atrocity. We are living through an atrocity that will be in the history books and people will wonder; how did this happen? Why didn’t the people do something? This guy is one of history’s monsters. Yes, Hitler comparisons are now absolutely correct, and also, necessary.

      • magnoliarose says:

It is Fascism and this is how it works. 45 is not Hitler though. That is giving 45 too much sway and power when he is not in charge. There are better Fascist examples. Mussolini. What about Stalin? How come no one loves Joe? /sarc

I do think the comparisons to what was happening in the 30s in Germany is right on target. However, I don’t think this evil is concentrated in one man. I think this is different. I believe there are several puppeteers behind the scenes, and they DO want to do unconscionable things to groups of people. I think this is the result of a very long campaign by extremists on the right. All they had to do was get a network, take over radio stations and plant the seeds. Just like 30s Germany. They slowly moved the center to the right and made their unreasonable intolerance normal.

I just wanted to add that this southern border immigration issue isn’t just about immigrants, it is also about private prisons planning to use inmates to replace migrant workers and illegal immigrants who accept low wages. They literally want to enslave black and brown people once again by putting them in chains and putting them work for free. They pass strict crime laws so private prisons can make money by housing more brown people, therefore, lining the pockets of people who invest in these nightmares. They make it nearly impossible for those arrested to make bail and fight the accusations against them. Inmates in private prisons don’t even have the same rights as they do in public prisons.
There are other reasons of course but that is one of them too. They pass laws years ahead of time, unnoticed and I don’t for one second believe it was by accident.

      • keroppi says:

magnoliarose: I heard about the private corporations that run prisons today and how many of them were large contributors to Trump’s campaign. I mentioned to my husband that I wonder if they are trying to set up a similar system to what the UAE has. They have thousands of migrant workers who are basically trapped but who build and do all of the construction.

    • Neelyo says:

Isn’t Congress trying to gut Social Security this week?

      • StartupSpouse says:

I think they released a budget that guts Medicare and Medicaid, among other things.

      • Squirrelgirl says:

They are proposing slashing over a trillion from medicare AND he just undid an executive order from Obama and is allowing drilling in the oceans. Because fuck the planet

      • magnoliarose says:

The media refuses to do its job by staying focused. One day people will wake up and realize they are living in tyranny but it will be too late.

      • Birdix says:

The old guard media still hasn’t adjusted to the new world, where they’re competing for attention with everything else online. The articles are out there, they’re still writing them. But if you don’t understand how to surface them, no one pays attention.

      • Laura says:

I heard Social Security,Medicare,Medicaid “Entitlement Programs” we have paid into while the 1 percent is enjoying their windfall from the tax cuts.Plus ,either tax or do away with protecting pre-existing conditions. This Congress is delighted for these distractions while they can push forth their evil legislation.

      • Christin says:

Don’t let this mannequin’s stunt distract from all the above.

While she’s possibly mad that she can’t swan around as she once did, our key social services and pre-existing coverage are at risk.

      • Cranberry says:

YES! Exactly. This is NO F*#king coincidence.

    • RBC says:

Also distracts from the current administration scrapping Obama policy of protecting oceans and the Great Lakes(source of drinking water ) .Plus US quitting Human Rights Council

    • AnnaKist says:

And let’s not forget the completely bullshit executive order professing to keep families together.

  3. Abby says:

I had to check that this wasn’t photoshop, when I first saw it on the internet. It’skke those shirts people wear in another lainguage when they don’t know what they mean. But she speaks English!

Just…blows my mind. Michelle Obama would have been crucified. It just is unreal. Never ceases to amaze me.

    • Squirrelgirl says:

The right would crucify Michelle Obama for this jacket it would be so sickening. And right now the right are saying “oh my gosh it’s only a jacket who cares??” My rage is off the charts with anyone who can defend the Trumps.

      • RBC says:

Remember the outrage when Michelle Obama dared to wear a outfit that showed her “bare arms”?

      • Beth says:

Don’t forget their flip out about the tan suit

      • MI6 says:

It’s NOT only a jacket. WTF. This country is an embarrassment.

      • Esmom says:

I hear what you’re saying. But the thing is Michelle O (or Laura Bush for that matter) would never have worn a jacket like this. Because they are decent human beings who possess empathy and compassion. Because they understood and respected their position and cared enough about the country to try to use their platforms for the good of others.

      • ImAlreadyGone says:

Even if we lay aside the fact that they are Nazis (which we shouldn’t. That’s not my argument), this jacket is inappropriate for a representative of the US Government. No other former first lady would have done this. Hell, I don’t even think their children would have. When I saw this yesterday, my adrenaline hit so hard I was shaking. These Nazis need to be imprisoned.

      • otaku fairy says:

Imagine if someone wore this exact same jacket to the funeral of any member of this disgusting family.

      • Giddy says:

@otaku fairy, in my opinion that would be a completely appropriate time to wear this jacket.

    • Abby says:

Exactly Esmom. No other FLOTUS would ever, ever, ever do this.

    • rabbitgirl says:

I literally believed it was photoshopped for a good hour. I just could not wrap my head around it. I mean even for these people… wow. When I realized it was not, I think I broke some shit.

  4. Squirrels4eva says:

That godawful b*tch. I hope all the “poor melania” people are done now.

    • Millennial says:

Exactly, this needs to be the nail in the coffin for the “poor Melania” narrative. I’ll admit I was holding out hope she was plotting her Katie Holmes-esque escape, but no, she’s just as horrible as everyone else in the White House.

    • LemonyPeony says:

      ita.

    • Betsy says:

I am and I’m not. If it turns out to have been a middle finger to Dotard, it’s still indefensible, but a lot different than a middle finger to the kids.

      • BearcatLawyer says:

Sorry, but it’s the optics, Betsy. Wearing this jacket on the plane trips to and from McAllen, Texas, was neither the time nor the place to send a message to Emperor Baby Fists. No matter whom she does not care about, it is indefensible under the circumstances. Full stop.

      • lightpurple says:

She knew people were upset about it and she put it back on! That’s not a message to him. It was a giant FU to the parents whose kids her husband & stepdaughter stole.

      • jwoolman says:

She only wore the odd jacket in the DC portion of the photo ops. I doubt very much that it had anything to do with her attitude toward the kids. She may be inept, but she isn’t the heartless person that her husband is. And it certainly has nothing to do with the media, that’s just Donald’s ridiculous spin.

This looks like a message to her husband, who watches tv intently day in and day out and has trouble hearing anything else. Besides, she hates to be breathing the same air as Donald. I think it’s very likely to have a personal meaning, something between her and Donald. Word is that Donald is infuriated about it- if true, that would confirm my suspicion. We’ll see what happens in the Melania & Donald soap opera in the coming weeks. Something may be brewing.

By the way, she went to the church because of flooding in the areas originally planned for the visit. It was pretty pointless because mainly real unaccompanied minors (who crossed the border on their own) were there. She probably would have been shown Potemkin villages anyway. Donald only sent her so he could claim that his wife told him everything was fine, regardless of what she actually thought.

    • bleu_moon says:

The “detention center” she visited was a church-run organization for kids who had arrived as unaccompanied minors prior to her idiot husband’s “zero tolerance” policy. The visit to an actual “Trump Hotel Concentration Camp for Kids” was canceled. This woman is as self-serving as the rest of the Trump clan. She really, really doesn’t care.

    • Elkie says:

To attempt(!) to quote Maya Angelou – “when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time”.

Melania showed her true colours when she pushed the racist birther crap hocking tacky jewellery on a shopping channel; unfortunately the only one that counts in 21st century America is “white” so she gets a pass…

    • nicole says:

I hope her popularity slumps, but lets face it she married the ugly orange ghoul, so what do you expect, she is as horrible and cold hearted as he is, no surprise.

  5. Green_eyes says:

Some say this was her let them eat cake Maria Antoinette moment, some say it was a message to Donny Orange, others to the media.
I believe it was a point blank clear message from Trump.

    Vile, soulless family of Grifters.

    • Lydia says:

Marie Antoinette did not say that. And even in the legend, that was ignorance and not willfully being evil.

      • Green_eyes says:

I didn’t say Antoinette said it.. I said some say it was her Antoinette let them eat cake moment. That’s how it was actually reported by Major networks in the US.

    • Beth says:

If she wanted to send a message to the media or her husband, there were other ways. Wearing these words on her back while going to see these children proved how tone deaf she truly is

      • AnnaKist says:

As well as being blind, having no taste, no feeling and having no ability to smell the rotting rat she’s married to, which is why she still does hs bidding. Put fancy clothes on an old slag and hey, look… she’s still an old slag.

    • Aren says:

This is what I believe too. That Trump himself chose the outfit to use his wife as a messenger.

    • Cranberry says:

      *clapping loudly

      Thank you.

  6. Louise177 says:

At least Melania was honest. More so than the statement her office released. She knew what she was doing.

    • greenmonster says:

Yes, she knew exactly what she was doing. This was a calculated move to get a reaction from the media and the left. I saw all kinds of defending tweets last night from “you should focus on her visiting children and not what she was wearing” to “how can the left not be outraged by what Peter Fonda was tweeting but this jacket?” The Trumps are playing the public like a fiddle – they fire up the right and outrage the left.

She skipped the actual kids concentration camp and visited a church run facility for minors who arrived unaccompanied prior to Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” policy. Allegedly due to flooding in the camp’s area, but really due to a better photo op in a place without sobbing kids in cages.

      • Kitten says:

I don’t know why more people aren’t reporting on this ^^^

I only found one story about how this wasn’t the facility she was originally supposed to visit. This was all for show. The flooded areas are fine for kids in concentration camps, but no place for a rich white lady like Melania.

      • Isabelle says:

They know their audience well…everything they do is for the nationalists and the racists in their party. They occasionally give a bone to the Evangelicals but the ones they truly love and relate to are the racists and Nationalist. Disgusting.

    • Isabelle says:

She is the ultimate troll. She has been trolling us the audience since the pussy bow incident.

  7. Hoopjumper says:

The spokesperson accidentally hit the nail on the head: there was no hidden message. The jacket says it all.

    • Erinn says:

This was EXACTLY what I thought.

    • Beth says:

The fact that it wasn’t even jacket weather, but she still wore it, proved she wanted everyone to see the message

      • hoopjumper says:

ITA. Some people pointed out it was from Zara, which is not a brand she usually wears. She wore it for the occasion, as it were.

      • Juls says:

That was my first thought, Beth. Isn’t it hot as the devil’s armpit in Texas? Why would you wear a jacket, period? Of course it was intentional. Real classy, bitch. Lock her up!

    • tracking says:

+2 She is vile just like every other member of that family. And those who put them in the WH.

    • Myrtle says:

Yep, nothing hidden in that message. Plain as day. Just over the top F-d up. I am disturbed by people on here using the C-word, though. I thought this was a feminist-leaning site.

  8. Nev says:

    A**HOLE.

  9. Lindy says:

I thought my outright hatred for everyone and everything in the current regime couldn’t grow larger. I thought wrong. The callousness of this gesture of hers is vile. I think it’s the smallness of the thing in the midst of the sea of horror that is this event. Like she couldn’t just do a cynical, half-a$$ed visit for the sake of appearances and be done. She had to add this nasty, heartless, knife twist. She and her evil husband *know* they can get away with murder and their base will cheer them on. That jacket was her middle finger to the rest of us. And to those precious children who are suffering. I really, really hate her.

    • Esmom says:

I’m with you. It took me a bit of time to even comprehend the jacket was real and not some photoshopped trolling. I honestly still can’t believe she actually wore it. It is heartless and cruel and I detest her and the entire Trump family more than ever.

  10. Squirrelgirl says:

I really hope this will put the Melania defenders to rest. She doesn’t care and she never has. She willingly married this man for money and citizenship. She and Ivanka will continue to have a battle of the feckless until they’re all in jail.

    • rabbitgirl says:

Are there Melania “be-best-porn-star” defenders? Because why? Why?

      • Sophia's side eye says:

Yes, there are usually a bunch of them on here. I’m assuming it’s a, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, type of thing? Like when she refuses to hold the Dotards hand. *eyeroll* Anyway, it’s nauseating to read on my fav site.

      • Betsy says:

I’ve been pretty vocal about the fact that I think Melania is an abused woman, physically and emotionally. I do not condone, support or defend her birtherism. Or this heartless bullcrap. An abused person can still be a crap person, and Melania is.

  11. Chrissy says:

What did anyone expect? She’s the most disengaged First Lady ever and a birther. She only went down there with her fake concern and probably on the orders of the fake president. The message that jacket gives is just typical of what I expect of her. But how tone deaf are she and Stephanie Grisham? Wow! SMDH. By the way, I’m still waiting to see her immigration papers. I wish some lawyer would look into that as well as her parents’ “chain migration” application especially since they contribute nothing to the US. Shady as hell.

    • Giddy says:

Not only that, but how did this Slovenian model qualify for what is known as an “Einstein Visa”? These visas are supposed to be for “renowned academic researchers, multi-national business executives, or those in other fields such as Olympic athletes or Oscar winning actors who demonstrated sustained national and international acclaim.”

In no way that I can see did she possibly qualify. As for that jacket I say burn in hell bitcch,

    • Christin says:

Nearly two years ago, she was supposed to hold a press conference within days and explain her immigration history (which was questioned then). Never happened. More shiny objects were presented to distract the media and public.

    • Cranberry says:

“She only went down there with her fake concern and probably on the orders of the fake president.”

      YES !

      *clap,clap,clap

      That’s genuine internet applause 🙂

  12. Becks1 says:

I saw this and thought for sure it had to be a joke, or photoshop, or something. Nope. She really is just that heartless.

“good luck?” like….she came here as an immigrant and by all accounts her immigration records weren’t squeaky clean, and her parents are here as well (chain migration anyone?) but that was all okay because she was pretty and white.

    I cant even today.

  13. Kitty says:

you don’t wear a statement coat like that without meaning something. Is she dumb, clueless, completely heartless or all of the above?

    • Belluga says:

She’s all three, but the first two don’t apply here. She knew exactly what she was doing.

    • Ankhel says:

Of course she meant something by it. You know that apart from Barron, her looks is all she cares about. Trophy wives like her don’t just put something on. This was deliberate.

      • Laura says:

She is a self absorbed piece of garbage.Matbe she never wanted this job and maybe she is sick of her marriage but you would think that she would be decent enough to say look I am in this job and you know what,I am going to try to do something to use it to make lives better. She just doesn’t care.

    • Danielle says:

That was exactly my question, is she stupid or evil? Only options at this point.

      • Kitty says:

I have to say that since this trump thing started, I never spend much time thinking about Melania. I just assumed she was this trophy wife, staying for the money that kind of thing. But now it’s painfully obvious that she is just as bad as the rest of them. There’s no way she was directing that message at the media. If she wanted to send that message to the media she could’ve worn it any other time, not to visit children ripped from their parents arms by her husbands administration. Feckless cunt

      • Who ARE these people? says:

        Nobody’s THAT stupid.

      • KNy says:

When I saw this, one of the things racing through my mind was, “Can. She. Read?” Like, not sarcastic. Literally – can she read?

      • Swack says:

@Kitty, on an article on Politico I made the statement that if she was saying that about the media why not wear it when she is at a press conference/talking to the press with Trump. Also read wear she just happened to reach in the closet and pull out this particular coat. Every excuse in the world.

    • Honey says:

It IS a statement coat and that’s why it gave/gives me pause. I don’t usually defend her. Actually, I don’t say much about her but I initially thought surely she couldn’t be that dumb or tone deaf re: the border issue. I thought that because this was so dumb and clueless that it has to be a personal statement to her husband about the state of their marriage, her decision to go to Texas (perhaps I repel of his thoughts or wishes) or even about some threat he made to her because WHO, in her role or in a similar role, would wear something that stupid given the optics of the moment.

Perhaps she was telling Donald. I don’t really give a shit about all of this. Do you? No, I didn’t think so. So, let’s pack up and go home.

I’ve just got two thing to say: I’ll be so glad when this freak show of demented carnies rolls out of town. In the meantime, be best, Melania. Be best.

      • Swack says:

Even if it was a message to Trump it was the wrong time and place to wear it. There are many other times she could wear this coat and have it be a message to Trump.

      • Panda says:

Please stop making excuses for white People. I mean, I wish the black kid that got shot in the back and killed by a cop in Pittsburgh was afforded the same leeway because HE was much more deserving. This woman has shown you that she’s a bigot, a liar, and does not care about people yet you’re confused about her clearer than day statement? Stop. Let the feckless 53% be irrelevant and forgotten. Their men run the show anyway and we’re coming for them.

      • Elma says:

It made me wonder if she’s deliberately trying to make bad press. There’s no way she couldn’t have seen how bad this would look!

But if she can mess it up often enough, then maybe she’s not asked to do any more and can run away as far as possible from a role she quite clearly never wanted!

      • Sophia's side eye says:

Wow, you’re still trying to defend her. It’s amazing what being white gets you in this country, eh, Panda?

She doesn’t care about the children in internment camps. She doesn’t care about children being separated from their parents with no way for their parents to find them. She doesn’t care about this country, or its people, or anyone besides herself.

White women do not have a “secret hero” in this garbage-gaggle of lying, grifting, racists. Ffs! She said what she said! Let’s hope that 53% changes course come the midterms so some people can feel better.

      • Elma says:

Never said I thought it was right or appropriate or in anyway acceptable! Maybe like many others I know, I’m trying to understand why she would do something so horrendous! I’m trying to figure out how someone could make such a deliberate act that is so offensive that words fail me.

This is not about my nationality (which incidentally is not American and I would never have voted for Trump or his cronies even if I had of been).

I think whatever her problems, choosing this time and method to make a point is beyond the pale, but then that’s the Trumps, controlling and manipulating some sections of the media, rewriting acceptable behaviours.

What I cannot ever understand is the rationale to take children away from their families like this. It’s horrifying to see from across the Atlantic. The pictures bring me to tears, children should never be treated like this. Families should never have to face this trying to get somewhere safe.

      • Kitten says:

My last comment because this thread is getting messy when…really, there are more important things to be worried about. Those kids don’t care about Melania’s FU jacket, they just want to see their mommy again.

But my impression of Melania is that she dislikes attention, especially negative attention. She detests the public scrutiny and the expectations that come with being FLOTUS. She hates that this is her new life, one in which she is accountable to the public. She misses her previously glamorous, superficial Park Avenue socialite lifestyle where she could come and go as she pleases, be as vapid as she pleases and never get criticized for it.

She hates being FLOTUS. She’d rather be anywhere else, doing ANYTHING other than using her newfound role to help others. She hated giving those speeches and she hated having to come up with a campaign. She hated getting (rightly) accused of plagiarism. She hates that the façade she’s created has been decimated, the veneer has been cracked and now the entire world can see how awful her husband is. She misses being adored for no reason except that she is a beautiful woman married to a rich and powerful man.

^All of that is why I find it hard to believe that she would deliberately court negative press and negative attention. Not because I don’t think she’s cruel enough, but because I think if she could, she would love nothing more than to go back to living the life of a rich trophy wife; a life where nobody criticizes her.

And with that, please continue to eviscerate this b*tch.

      • Honey says:

My message was not in defense of her or making excuses for white people.

      • Cranberry says:

She was speaking for Trump people. She wore the jacket, but she’s the president’s wife, and therefore it’s HIS message. Whether she’s an unhappy hostage or not, she knows her place, and She Does What She’s Told !

I’m not excusing her. She chose to do it whether it was her idea or not. I’m just not buy any of this crap of Melania going rogue and sending her husband childish messages on her jacket. These people, Trump’s orange house, got her the jacket, scheduled the unplanned trip and orchestrated her walking path to maximize their message to the media. She is not capable of this level of political scheming or the organizing all this took.

        Like @kitten says,

She’s just the trophy wife who’s self preserving interest is to follow the orange program set for her as FLOTUS. She is merrily an extension of him. Another way for him to send out coded and not to coded messages to his base in front of everyone without being held accountable for it.

      • Cranberry says:

        *merely

        Both work.:|

  14. Digital Unicorn says:

Deliberate distraction, the fat Nazi even tweeted about it. None of them care and we shouldn’t be surprised. That whole family are trolling us, they really do think they can do whatever they want and get away with it.

Come on Mueller, either that its time to get the pitchforks out and storm the White House to kick these vermin out.

    • Kitty says:

If it was intended as a distraction, it sure is a terrible one. It didn’t distract from what’s going on with all those children, if anything, I think it brings more attention to the fact that trump, his administration and his family are all horrible, and don’t care about all these innocent children in cages

      • Cranberry says:

But it is distracting from the meetings that are happen among the Republicans regarding how they’re going to debilitate welfare and ACA. Or the net neutrality rulings that came down during all of this. Or that people’s health premiums have been shooting up in many states. Not to mention Cohen may be talking to Mueller and cutting a deal after all.

Do you see how that works?

  15. grabbyhands says:

    “Good Luck”.

I’m only surprised that she didn’t say “May the odds be ever in your favor” because apparently this is a f*cking game.

As for the coat, I don’t even know where to start. Either you’re the dumbest, most tone deaf twat in the entire universe to wear a coat like that to see children living in cages because of your Nazi husband or you’re a huge, evil , unbelievably cruel troll. Either way you’re a horrible human being and people need to stop pretending that she’s trying to make an escape or she’s been forced to do things against her will. SHE. IS. COMPLICIT.

    That coat wasn’t an accident.

    • Beth says:

“Good luck ” reminds me of when Donnie shook hands with hurricane victims and told them to “have a good time,” or when he threw paper towels at people in Puerto Rico. The Trumps could not be more tone deaf

      • Esmom says:

Yup. They don’t possess the capacity to relate to people in a normal, compassionate way. Melania actually might have that capacity in regard to her son/parents but Donald sure doesn’t. He is an empty shell.

  16. Kate Widdleton says:

My favorite part is how the coat is only $39. You know this nasty cow wouldn’t let a jacket that cheap touch her skin unless she was sending a message.

    • erni says:

please leave the cows alone, they’re innocent 🙁

    • lightpurple says:

She had a long sleeved shirt on under it so it never actually touched her skin. It was in the 80s in DC. She probably stunk.

    • Beth says:

Donnie must be embarrassed that we all know that his trophy wife wore such an affordable, low priced jacket

  17. RBC says:

Melania goes to visit terrified children crying for their parents wearing a coat saying “ I really don’t care, do u? Of course everyone’s attention is now focused on the coat.
I think Melania really does care… only about HERSELF. She knew damm well what kind of fallout that coat would cause.
    Bitch

  18. Scal says:

I know people on my social media that are defending her because they actually bought the ‘it’s about the media’ line. And excusing her wearing a jacket outdoors in humid dc.

I have no words for them. Even if you buy the line about the media-what First Lady wears something like this ever? It’s childish and not becoming of the wife of a leader.

    • Belluga says:

Claiming it’s aimed at the media doesn’t make it less narcissistic or sociopathic. It would just mean she made a trip to visit the children that her husband is persecuting all about her personal issues.

Or, in other words, she’s STILL saying “I couldn’t care less about these children”.

      • Kitten says:

Yes I said something similar upthread and also on FB and people accused me of making excuses for her. Someone was like “It wasn’t a mistake”. Yeah, I never said it was. There is a huge difference between a mistake and not giving a f*ck.

I’m saying she doesn’t care. She doesn’t care enough to think past her own perceived victimhood. She thought she’d send a message to the media because she thinks they bully her and that was her focus: HERSELF. Not those kids that she was on the way to visit. She’s uncaring and thoughtless, like her entire family (except for maybe Barron).

    • lightpurple says:

Aiming it at the media is an attack on the Constitution.

    • otaku fairy says:

As if that’s any kind of excuse for her. That just means she turned what should have been about those abused children and migrant families into a ‘fuck the h8rs’ fashion statement. She’s shown what she’s about. Evil bitch.

    • hogtowngooner says:

No no no, BARE ARMS are unbecoming of a FLOTUS!!! /s

    • Bea(trice) says:

The media thing makes zero sense. I mean, it’s such a spin I’m surprised he’s not dizzy. What does I really don’t care, do you? have to do with the “lying” “fake” media?? Nothing because it’s BS. I agree with Kitten that she’s been so low key that these little acts of trolling HAVE to be intentional. There’s no way this wasn’t done deliberately, whether as a distraction or whatever. Some childhood classmate posted his defense and I just thought, how are you people falling for this. I feel like I’m in bizarro world because the “fake media” spin makes zero sense. Wouldn’t she have worn some statement jacket or shirt with a message about lies?

  19. Yo says:

What a fucking bitch. That’s all i got.

  20. LT says:

I was happy to see some of my conservative Facebook friends say, “is this for real? who thought this was a good idea?” So not everyone on the right is defending her.

    • Christin says:

This may help peel away some of the moderate voters who have not paid enough attention to date. It takes some mental gymnastics to justify wearing that message.

      • Abby says:

I went on the profiles of people I know that staunchly defend our “most classy ever” First Lady to see how they’re going to spin this one. Nothing yet. Just can’t see how this can be defended.

      • Isabelle says:

Abby–hey don’t want to defend it and are applauding what she did, they underneath are like the people they worship.

      • Bea(trice) says:

Most of them I hid on fb, but one just reposted (I think Trumps facebook has all his tweets) the tweet that it was a dig at the media. I couldn’t believe anyone fell for that.

  21. Jenns says:

I liked Melania much better when she was missing.

And that’s an inappropriate jacket for a First Lady to wear anywhere. You should only wear that jacket if you’re one of the Real Housewives.

    • Ankhel says:

The best Melania is a missing Melania.

    • Bea(trice) says:

It’s been such a rough week I FORGOT she had been missing. I feel like Rose at the beginning of Titanic “it’s been 84 years.”

  22. Nic919 says:

This bitch is complicit. And clearly heartless considering how babies were ripped from their mothers and we still don’t have any real answers about where they have been sent. She chose to marry this horrible man and chooses to stay with him for the money. This jacket confirms she is not being forced to do anything.. she is this disgusting herself.

  23. littlemissnaughty says:

I left work early today and have already started my weekend. WHY am I not drinking yet??? I sometimes question my decisions about alcohol. Today it’s all about WHERE’S MY VODKA???

This little glorified prostitute … sorry, “trophy wife”, knows exactly what she’s doing.

    • Nancy says:

I agree with the glorified prostitute, she is bought and paid for. Kellyanne Conway or any of their talking heads can’t explain the coat. Who after age 12 wear clothes with words on them. Under the coat she has a tee shirt with the arrow pointing to her right: “I’m with stupid.” Case closed on any melania sympathizers. Peter Fonda, take a bow.

  24. lightpurple says:

The vile, rude, insensitive Wigged Courtesan of Trump Tower took this moment to send a giant F U to the families whose children have been kidnapped by her husband, most likely for the personal profit of her evil stepdaughter. She visited unaccompanied minors, not the stolen kids, which continues the policy of pretending these kids aren’t being ripped from their parents arms but are coming on their own, because 3 years olds know how to walk here from Honduras. She made this all about her, as Trump scum does. Not content to trash the families, she & the orange dotard then had to attack the media for doing its constitutional duty. And then she whined that they weren’t talking about what she is doing for the children. BECAUSE SHE IS DOING NOTHING FOR THE CHILDREN.

If that beast had an ounce of human decency, she wouldn’t have worn that jacket, but if she had, upon realizing people were upset, she should have issued an apology and a statement about the kids. But no. This selfish turd wore the jacket again (over a long sleeve shirt on an 80 degree day no less, she must have stunk) and issues a statement whining about it and attacking the media. Still no statement from her about the kids.

  25. Geekychick says:

as I’ve commented many times before, those of us who remember Melania from her days before Trump, from her days of modeling, and those of us who know accounts from Slovenia and around-know and knew that she always was an opportunist first and foremost. she really, truly doesn’t care about anyone except herself. ok, Barron probably. But I do bet that her interests always come first.

  26. Bean says:

So the White House says officially there was no “hidden message” (damn right it wasn’t hidden) then trump tweets it was a message to fake media. I LEARNED HOW TO COORDINATE MY LIES BETTER IN GRADE SCHOOL.

    • Esmom says:

Ha. I think the only explanation for Trump’s incessant and contradictory lies is that he truly believes everything he says in the moment as being true. To him, lying isn’t even a conscious thing anymore. He’s truly missing some/a lot of innate, essential humanity.

  27. B n A fn says:

I really DO care and I WILL BE VOTING the first Tuesday in November. The woman is passive aggressive. She is just as despicable as the dotard. Kim was right when he called him a foolish old man.

  28. Floydee Mercer says:

Well, that merely proves that Melanie, in fact, has never been in possession of any feck whatsoever and that even the concept of feck eludes her.

  29. me46 says:

    Melania is Eva Braun 2.0

    • Isabelle says:

She is way too lazy to be Eva. Like her husband its all for show to rile up their base so they can continue their lazy life, earn money with little efffort from the cult members but at the end of the day they are lazy as fu*k. Especially Melania

  30. SM says:

She is a golddigger who married a monster for money, she really does not care about anything. We knew that, now she is showing it to us directly. She does not care for anythig apart herself and so I took it almost like her desperate attempt to sygnal to Mueller to please conduct his invertigation already, so the staff can stop forcing her to act like she cares about anything in the world.

  31. Incredulous says:

Really? I realise I’m in the minority here but I thought it was worn deliberately to get at her husband. She has checked the F out since the Stormy Daniels stuff came to light and I’m under the impression she was pressured to do the visit yesterday. Wearing that, to and from, is basically throwing Donnie Goodbrains under the bus – either he defends her and everyone gets mad or he doesn’t and everyone gets mad. Basically, the chances of him making her do anything like that again are effectively nil.

Yes, she could divorce him but I expect there’s some pre-nup stuff in her way.

    • Honey says:

My initial thought was that she wore it as a statement to him. I just can’t wrap my head around that whole WH situation. It’s truly twilight zone surreal.

    • ElizabethL says:

Yeah it’s a move so blatantly bad for her husband that it had to have been pre-orchestrated against him, but who really knows in this alternate reality government.

Where did she get that coat from, so fast on such short notice?

    • Mego says:

As I have been trying to get my head around why MT would pull a stunt like this which to me is a very deliberate act btw, you posit a very interesting theory. What an incredible way to completely sabatoge her husband and his administration. Throw under the bus indeed. But would she sacrifice her own reputation in the process? Because lets be clear her approval ratings will never recover from this. Maybe it’s a way for her to finally distance herself from a role she never wanted in the first place too. It’s surreal…

      • jwoolman says:

I don’t think she cares about her approval ratings. She’s not a politician and seems to be an introvert, not into much socializing except to fulfill obligations to her awful husband. So she doesn’t need to impress anybody. She’s just marking time until she and her son can get away from Donald for good.

The jacket is so uncharacteristic for her in so many ways that we need to think outside the box in trying to interpret it. Obviously it has nothing to do with the media. But assuming it means she doesn’t care about the children doesn’t make any sense either. She isn’t her husband. She’s not expressive, but doesn’t seem cruel.

I don’t think it’s some secret code to Trump’s base, either. Melania doesn’t care about his base. So the idea of it being some masterful scheme by the Trumpies using Melania as the message bearer doesn’t make sense either. Trump can dog whistle all he wants in tweets and at rallies.

We need to wait and see what happens on the Donald/Melania front. I still suspect it has to do with something personal. They are unlikely to be communicating at the moment, so it might indeed be a message to her tv-obsessed husband. But about what? Stay tuned.

This is absolutely the weirdest Presidency that I have ever lived through.

    • Kitty says:

If it was a dig at her husband, it was a piss poor time and place to do it

    • MattyLove says:

I took it to be a big “f-you” to her husband, too. But that may just be me projecting my own feelings toward him into the situation. My guess is that, when she spoke to him about the situation with the children, he responded to her with “I don’t really care. Do you?” So she wore this jacket to call him out.

    • Veronica S. says:

Cool story, bro, but those immigrant children locked in cages probably could give a shit less about her white collar sadness.

    • Lightpurple says:

Melania has known about Stormy Daniels for at least 5 years.

    • Sophia's side eye says:

Please stop sticking up for this woman. She said exactly what she thinks about this situation, the one everyone has been talking about for days! The children being taken from their parents, that’s what she doesn’t care about!

She is complicit and not very bright. Y’all insist on assigning far too much diabolical, Lex Luthor type thought to something that isn’t that deep because Melania isn’t that deep. She doesn’t care about the children, she said what she said!

      • Mego says:

Hardly sticking up for her. Her action was indefensible. Just looking at possible motivations for making such an appaling move. IMO anyone who would wear that jacket in the context that she did is an asshole whatever the reason. Clueless asshole or malign asshole we will never know for sure.

      • Incredulous says:

        @ Mego

I would guess both. She wore it to damage Donny and did not expect the personal backlash.

I am fine with keeping up the personal backlash.

        To all of them.

        Keep it up, keep momentum.

      • passerby says:

        Ding Ding Ding!

        “she said what she said!”

This is the only take that matters @ Sophia’s side eye.

Now let the mental gymnastics of her apologist continue.

    • Isabelle says:

She is a big time troll no doubt so its possible but not smart if that was her plan, cause it should and has backfired on her.

    • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

Trump was afraid his base will revolt after he reversed the Zero Tolerance policy. The jacket was for his base. There are some interviews of his voters at his rally afterwards with them making fun of the kids and calling their cries fake.

The MSM was calling out Melania personally for not showing she cared. She went to the shelter to stop the criticism. It was preplanned. CNN was among the media sent with her and broadcasted live. As with her released statements she had to feed the base at the same time she was appeasing the liberals. Her second released statement put the burden on congress and Dems to fix the immigrantion problem, NOT her husband.

Compare her first press release to Laura Bush’s. Her statement is following the Trump agenda. Trump backing away from any further Immigration negotiations was the cherry on top for this week of F—you.

  32. Always Lurking says:

Melania ‘racist birther’ Trump is just Donald ‘orange Nazi’ Trump in a longer wig. Both despicable and soulless, hateful individuals who look miserable most of the time.

The US is on a mission of self destruction with these fascists in power. What a nightmare!

    • jwoolman says:

I’ve seen her body language around the Obamas. It matches her statement during the plagiarism thing that she really admires Michelle Obama. The body language shows she likes both Barack and Michelle Obama.

The birther stuff is her husband’s bit. She didn’t push it spontaneously but did repeat the nonsense when asked. That could easily have been to keep the peace at home. Not many wives publicly respond “No, I don’t believe that idiocy. My husband is a loon.” under such circumstances, especially if their husband has a hair-trigger temper.

Women have been doing this for ages. They just go along with their husbands’ pet conspiracy theories in classic “Yes, dear” fashion, especially in public. It has never meant that they are warriors for the cause. My mother told me to never argue with a man. Really. She went along with every damn fool thing her idiot husband wanted. I would not be surprised if Melania grew up with the same instructions. I doubt that we will know what she really thinks about anything until Donald is dead and her son is full grown and has received whatever inheritance is still left.

  33. Franny Days says:

I’m just trying to understand what in the hell she was thinking.

  34. gingersnaps says:

Monsters and pond scum the lot of them and anyone who idolises them! Are there any plans to protest Tramp’s arrival in the UK? As I am seriously contemplating in joining it. It’s past the time to take the higher ground, people need to go out and be heard so that evil is not left uncheck to fester and ravage.

  35. B n A fn says:

I honestly don’t believe it’s a message to the media. Her husband disrespects the media every day, she don’t have to send any message. IMO I believe she’s sending a message to us for calling out her husband for his failed policy and disrespecting brown people.

    • Let It Be says:

In the despicable context of this administration’s war on the media and its political enemies, they are pandering to their base with this message. Ideology comes before basic human rights and compassion. This is really happening and it’s chilling.

      • Esmom says:

Agree. This war on the media has been relentless and has shown no signs of letting up and all signs of being extremely effective. It is chilling and has kept me up many a night. I honestly never thought we’d be at this place where facts truly don’t matter.

  36. Dr Mrs The Monarch says:

Cue the faux news conspiracy theories and denials.

Tomorrow she will wear a white hooded robe and call everyone shallow for criticizing her high fashion. The next day she will wear a swastika neckless to show her appreciation of religious symbols.

    • Panda says:

Say it again for the excuse makers in the back row!

Melanie is irrelevant anyway, so as long as those “poor Melanie” types are voting blue in every election in the next 5+ years, the can blanket her with every fragile white woman excuse they like. Cause I really don’t care about the feckless 53% and I hope no one does either.

  37. Indiana Joanna says:

Melania, We already knew that you don’t really care.

She begrudgingly visited the site and only spent an hour without seeing children. But the media is calling it a show of compassion.

Hey US news media, she really doesn’t care. Stop trying to interpret her coarseness and cruelty as anything else.

  38. Cerys says:

A pointless visit from a pointless first lady. As for the jacket, words fail me ….
Why is it taking so long to get this numpty and his family out of the White House????

  39. Ladykeller says:

EVEN IF she is that stupid and clueless the people around her aren’t. She’s got a staff and someone could have/should have said something. This was deliberate.

    • Esmom says:

Yes. The fact that not a single person said “maybe you shouldn’t wear that” speaks volumes about the entire administration.

    • otaku fairy says:

Nobody is that stupid. She knew what she was doing.

    • Lightpurple says:

Our tax dollars actually pay for an Officer of Protocol, who works under the First Lady, whose very job duties include reviewing every aspect of a First Lady’s appearance from top to bottom for appropriateness for every public appearance.

  40. Tessa says:

I’m sure I’m going to wake up in a minute it will be 2016 and everything’s gunna be ok

  41. Cee says:

People like her are the worst kind of racist – they believe they have a right to waltz into the US, scam the system, and get a green card and citizenship because they’re white and “fit right in”.
The latin americans pouring in looking for asylum and a chance to survive? They don’t have the same rights because 1) they’re brown, 2) they’re latin, 3) they’re not “like us”

The POS that voted for her husband must have loved seeing her in that jacket. She’s catering to them. She’s just as bad a Trump.

    • otaku fairy says:

Yep. She knew the racist implications of wearing that jacket when she did and just went with it.

  42. Stephanie says:

I was gobsmacked. I saw this yesterday and I kept thinking, “there’s no way this is correct”. Very Marie Antoinette of her.

    • Beth says:

When I saw it yesterday, I thought it was photoshopped and there was no way she could be stupid enough to really wear this. Very “let em eat cake,” thing for Melania to do

  43. Purplehazeforever says:

It was intended to do exactly what it did… Change the topic. His message wasn’t for Celebitchy readers, Democrats…but his base.

  44. Veronica S. says:

Interesting how nobody is jumping on THIS thread calling her Trump’s victim and saying we should empathize, eh? I guess even the most lenient among us can’t justify this.

    • Beth says:

No pity for the birther bitch. This jacket dug herself deeper

    • Abbess Tansy says:

Exactly, no pity for this piece of trash.

    • Sophia's side eye says:

Oh, they’re here. Tying themselves in knots trying to figure out what she “really” meant by wearing that jacket. Because of course she wouldn’t say she didn’t care about the children in cages. It must be a coded message about the Dotard! She must really be trying to sabotage the administration! /S

      • Veronica S. says:

Honestly, how is it not worse if it’s actually a statement about Trump? At that point, she’s actively exploiting the media focus on the suffering of immigrant children for her own benefit to – what, “get hers back?” That’s not clever politicking. That’s just being a goddamn sociopath.

      • Sophia's side eye says:

Yes, Veronica, I agree with you. There is no excuse in the world that’s good enough for this behavior. And, you’re right the thought of this horrible situation being exploited by her because she supposedly hates her husband does make it even worse!

      • Bea(trice) says:

Why would she choose that outing as the time to make a statement towards Trump?? It makes NO sense. She could have worn this jacket right after she reappeared from hiding. Maybe I can buy she’s trying to sabotage him and his reelection, but that’s still a stretch. And what the heck would ever sabotage him with his base? Have you guys checked out any Trump die hards on social media (not bots or trolls, actual people on facebook and twitter)? They are bending over backwards to defend this. Oh it was an Obama era policy, it was a law put into place by Clinton, American criminals don’t get to take their kids to jail, the media and liberals do anything to make Trump look bad, these are like summer camps etc etc. My own aunt, some cousins, a few old classmates and assorted distant relations of my husband are saying this stuff. I have most of them hidden and decided to look out of morbid curiosity and they are all real people, not bots or trolls. So I’m not worried about defending Melania when these people are their base. She could troll her husband by refusing to play along, not wearing this tasteless coat.

  45. WendyNerd says:

Alright, I won’t look for hidden messages. I’ll just continue to gape at the message written on her back in giant, white letters during her staged photo op.

  46. Vada says:

I think her jacket is awful and her husband is heartless but does anyone really care? Why is it only now that people are suddenly so upset about the treatment of immigrants? We have been treated this way for decades now and no one seemed to care before.

My family moved here in 1997. I was seven and taken away from my parents for almost two days. I was terrified, barely spoke English and no one cared when I cried for my mom and dad. I was never put in cage but my tiny empty room was not exactly the welcoming I expected to get either.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that we are starting to pay attention. Immigrants in this country, legal or not, face trials that you cannot even imagine. Twenty-one years later, my family still faces a lot of the same issues we did then. I just think a lot people only care because this is happening under the Trump administration. Like I said, this is nothing new or Trump specific. I really hope I’m wrong but only time will tell.

    • surferrosa says:

Thank you, Vada, for sharing your story because it has to be heard by more American citizens. My mother worked as an immigration attorney for 30 years and one of her first responses to the news was that in a way this policy was not completely new. The only thing that was new about it was that it was intended to be implemented on a large scale and was targeted at asylum seekers. I can’t imagine how confused, alone and terrified you must have felt. Most Americans have no clue about how it feels when you don’t speak the same language as those around you and have no way of communicating your needs, which can be incredibly terrifying for even the bravest of adults who aren’t being incarcerated, let alone a child who is basically in a jail.

    • Veronica S. says:

Immigration has been an ongoing up as a debate for the past two decades plus. The partisan battle has kept it from coming to any sort of meaningful or legitimate address, and the media has not given it anywhere near the amount of the attention it should have. The election of Trump has forced a lot of the ugliness that was easy for white America to ignore into the national spotlight.

But you are right that this policy had its roots laid long before this happened, and we should be ashamed for letting it go on this long under our notice because it wasn’t effecting our personal lives. Americans have a lot to answer for their apathetic complicity in our empire’s actions. We need to demand better, do better, be better.

    • Isabelle says:

…because modern Americans unfortunately are shallow news watchers & readers we only become interested when we can become outraged. Walter Cronkite would fail miserably is the drive by window of the modern news era.

    • Bea(trice) says:

Sadly I think people are only aware of certain things now because of the 24 hour news cycle and social media. It’s great that people care NOW, but imagine how different the world would be if people had cared more THEN.

  47. Chaine says:

Either she is truly evil, or there is something psychiatrically very wrong with this woman.

  48. Lila says:

“While you are all looking at my jacket and talking about it on the 24 hour news cycle my husband is busy gutting medicare , social security, getting rid of preexisting conditions, diverting our attention from the Mueller investigation, confirming conservative judges that will impact our future and money for our ridiculous wall and kicking out as many different ethnic groups as we can. Very nicely calculated “Flotus”

  49. Steph says:

This is the cynic part of me speaking, but as a Texan, who would even let Melania wear a freaking jacket when it’s been so humid and hot statewide?

Otherwise, Melania is just a major eye roll for me.

  50. PlayItAgain says:

If any other First Lady had worn that jacket—to ANY type of event—it would have been shocking and noteworthy. The backlash would have been especially vile if it had been Michelle O. So, at the very least, it demonstrates how disorganized, unqualified, or powerless the regular WH staffers are, the regular staff who try to keep working in the WH for good reasons, who normally would have stopped this kind of thing (assuming it was an innocent mistake).

That said, I think she was either trying to send some kind of message on her own, or she was instructed to wear it for some reason. The whole trip was a stunt, and Melania doesn’t do anything unless it’s in her contract, so someone was taking advantage of it to send an extra message to someone.
And I really don’t care. It all pales in comparison to the atrocities the Orange Emperor commits on a daily basis. None of us will be safe—even his base—until he’s out of office.

  51. Amelie says:

Yeah she gets no sympathy from me anymore. She knew what she was doing. I long ago stopped listening to people who try to justify voting for Trump. This latest controversy with the children being forcibly separated from their parents at the border is evil and I will throw it in anyone’s face along with Melania’s I don’t care jacket if they try to defend Trump. They might not listen but I’m not the one on the wrong side of history.

  52. Rapunzel says:

Melania is 48 years old. The fact she’d even have this jacket in her closet is a sign that she is a horribly immature person. Can she really be that immature? Probably not. Frankly, I think her evil and greed is fully mature. That just proves that this wasn’t hanging in her closet and she probably got it specifically for this occasion. Which makes the whole thing worse.

10 bucks says she borrowed this from princess Nagini. Or it was a gift from Tiffany. That would explain why it’s $39.

  53. The Original G says:

The message is not hidden. It’s quite clear. The question is- who was it directed at?

    • Isabelle says:

Exactly, part of me thinks she is trolling her husband, which she has done many times so it blows up on him or she could be that evil.

      • Original G says:

Time will tell. She made a statement against family separation and I believe she made this trip in defiance of Lard Ass. It’s directed at him and that’s why he jumped on Twitter to deflect:

      • Cranberry says:

Umm, even if the arrangement to visit one of these “encampments” was her wish, which I don’t think it was, why would she need to do something so juvenile as to wear a huge “I don’t care, do U” message on her back? If she supposedly is defying Trump by visiting it in the first place, then why the addition of a public message to him at all?

The abrupt decision to visit a detention site was the RNC idea for damage control. Trump has made a mess of all this and he even doubled down before he was made to cave in because of public pressure. Not because of anything Melania or Ivanka said or did. Trump is very angry now cause he lost a big public battle that is of primary importance to his base. So to TRY to show the country that the White House (Trump) “does care”, but not give in so much as to seem like they’ve abandoned their base’s anti-immigration-at-all-costs agenda, they’ve sent Melania to do the public appearance but with a jacket with a very clear message of defiance.

      • Original G says:

Why anyone would do anything as I juvenile as this is a mystery to me as well. I’m not defending her. Not in anyway shape or form. I just don’t think that anyone knows what her real role and real position is here. I wish she would just disappear along with her entire family. What she did was unconscionable. But it could be unconscionable and trolling her husband at the same time.

  54. HK9 says:

She’s a dumpster fire of a human being and so is the rest of her family. For her to wear that jacket not only means that she’s stupid, but she also has no soul.

  55. Franny says:

She had never trolled the media before, why pick this moment, of all moments, to start?

Not that I believe the spin that she’s baiting anyone – her message is simple and clear, no need to turn it into anything than what it is.

The Trumpskis have been saying they don’t care for the past two weeks, anyway. I find it odd that they would feel the need to lie about it again.

Imagine if Michelle Obama had worn the same coat to a VA hospital – people would be flipping out, as they should. It’s an incredibly tacky, callous sign for a First Lady to wear at any time.

    • Lightpurple says:

Not aiming this at you specifically, Franny, but to everyone, can we please stop with the comparisons of Melania to Michelle? Or of Ivanka to Chelsea, or the Dotard to Obama’s or either Clinton. To paraphrase a legendary Boston saying from the not-missed Rick Pitino: Hillary Clinton ain’t walking through that door. I understand why people make the comparisons but it reduces this to an either or situation and somewhat normalizes these scum AND it gives their supporters targets. There is nothing normal here. Melania is without question unlike any First Lady in our history (a position that has on occasion been filled by daughters or nieces). She is lazy, cruel, uncaring, wasteful, selfish and vicious. The likes of Abigail Adams would never associate with her likes because doing so would damage their own reputations – that’s how far we have fallen on this score. Not one of the previous 44 presidents would have tried to do the horrific things Trump does, well, except Andrew Jackson. And the Chelsea v Ivanka nonsense. No adult child of a president has EVER held a West Wing office during its father’s administration despite dozens of them being far more intelligent, distinguished and accomplished than that feckless snake. Yes, a few have collected federal salaries but, with the exception of a John Q Adams, they were serving in the military. She isn’t. As for JQA, he was brilliant, highly educated and had served Washington as an ambassador. His father was reluctant to appoint him to another ambassador seat because of the ethics but did so at Washington’s insistence and he was confirmed by the Senate. Brilliance, education, experience, ethics, and congressional approval aren’t things that apply to Ivanka.

We must point out at every turn that this is not normal, that this is not either/or, that this is unprecedented, that every bit of this is wrong

      • Esmom says:

Thank you. I cannot stand the “can you imagine if [insert previous POTUS or family member] did something [insert Trump family member] did” because in no way are we comparing apples to apples. Or even apples to oranges. It’s more like apples to toxic waste. Everything they do is unprecedented. And despicable. And would not have occurred to anyone in this/these position(s) prior to them. Entertaining that line of thinking seems to be one of the most futile exercises I can imagine.

I have been calling people out on Twitter about this left and right, and even above in this post. I don’t know how to emphasize the irregularity/abnormality of the Trumps any louder or stronger or more effectively.

      • Indiana Joanna says:

THANK YOU, Light Purple. Those comparisons are really getting on my nerves.

This is s bizarre that it’s extremely dangerous. Even if Melania is trolling her husband why don’t s she think this is the proper way to do it? They are truly a disturbed, evil group of people who should be impeached.

      • Dr Mrs The Monarch says:

Thank you Lightpurple! Never before have I agreed with so many terrible things said about a “president”. Not even a president who was committing war crimes by attacking countries on the basis of false evidence.

Never before in my life have I felt that it was a good thing to call any woman the c-word. Just 3 years ago, if I had been told about concentration camps and p0rn stars and trade wars I would not have believed it.

It is painful to read the news, but the truth must not be hidden.

      • Bea(trice) says:

You cannot compare anything to this circus. Except maybe the rise of the Nazi party in 1930s Germany. I agree, it’s obvious they won’t face any of the same backlash others have. They have show disregard for rules and regulations and skirted policy after policy. Michelle would have never done this. This is bizarro world where there seem to be no rules. We don’t need to imagine what would have happened if Obama or Clinton had done this because they wouldn’t have!! Trump is a whole different animal. ITA!!

  56. Nicegirl says:

When can we LOCK them up????

    • Franny says:

The comparison is valid because like it or not, they are holding the same positions as all of the former leaders. They don’t deserve it, but there they are.

I agree that it’s useless to try to make comparisons most of the time, because they are absolute dumpster fire. But I’m going to go ahead and do it once in a while without apology.

  57. bunichow says:

and america believed Hilary was the worst of the bunch.

    • Chrissy says:

No. Over 3 million more forward-thinking Americans voted for her rather than the Orange Nazi Turd and his grifter family.

    • Isabelle says:

They are still obsessed with her, Fox talks about her all the time. Here is the real truth, they don’t like successful women that aren’t super attractive. Whoa to the women rising in power on their own without a man getting her there (actually think this is why a lot of married Evangelicals are extremely jealous & bitter toward the Hillary types). They want their women compliant, submissive, agreeable, hot in looks and bootlickers of the system, men and god. When women go outside those boundaries they punish them and never forget. Abusive really.

      • Bea(trice) says:

My Trump loving aunt has hated the Clintons since the 90s. She is obsessed with Hillary. She actually had a decoration outside her home the Halloween before the election of a mannequin in an orange prison jumpsuit with a Hillary rubber mask on. She thought this was the most hilarious thing ever. I hid her on facebook, but if I look at her timeline, she posts at least one anti Hillary meme a day. I want to photoshop Hillary’s face on Regina George saying Why are you so obsessed with me? I don’t get it, Hillary is a private citizen now. They got there wish, Trump is president. Is it insecurity?

  58. LuvHotGuyFri says:

When have we ever previously seen her wear a $39 jacket that has graffiti on the back???
She doesn’t wear things like that.
The jacket was worn to send a message.
She and her husband are both selfish and cold-hearted. What would her life be like today if she had not immigrated to the US?! I loathe these two.

  59. lobbit says:

This is all meant to rile up his base and his opponents. We rail at his tacky wife and call her names and then Trumpists attack us for attacking HER — this way none of us are talking about shit that actually matters. They’re all pulling stunts like this – it’s not a coincidence that two senior white house staffers have been booed out of Mexican restaurants in the last week or so.

  60. jammypants says:

I already have a lot of opinions on her so I’ll go for the silly, shallow stuff. Her hairline is too weak to do a middle part. It does not look good, especially if the baby hairs dominate the hairline. It looks terrible imo. You can clearly see the middle part goes against the natural direction her hair grows in. She might look better with a side part. Her hair is too thin in the front and her styling gives me the same “combover” put off like Drumpf. Here’s what it really looks like http://www.celebitchy.com/536458/melania_trump_watches_cable_news_obsessively_to_act_as_biglys_watchdog/. It’s genetics and not her fault but she needs a stylist who can work with that, not against it. Ivanka, IMO can pull it off bc her hairline is more defined and she doesn’t have baby hairs taking over. This is a weird thing to get annoyed over but Melania’s hair has always bugged me.

    • kacy says:

Ivanka’s hair is mostly fake though. It’s about 4 inches long, she had to move to have a half wig from tapes because they were visible, since she has thin hair. Just saying her hair is pretty awful as well, but just due to overbleaching.

  61. tw says:

If I got within arms reach of her, I would punch her in the face. I know people, violence is never the answer. But if someone ever deserved a punch in the face, it’s her in that stupid, f’ing jacket. F that bitch.

  62. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

She’s needs to go down. They all need to go down. Chained and caged. The entire whole of our governing body should be shipped to our borders in 60-year-old busses and thrown in cages. Then we can arrange our own tours, take pics with the sad sots while wearing I-don’t-give-AF-about-you-and-your-kind shirts.

  63. KS says:

ITS 100 DEGRESS IN TEXAS. THIS IS TOTALLY ON PURPOSE.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Exactly KS. It’s why I want to throw the lot of them in 60-year-old busses.

    • Christin says:

And the humidity makes it feel even warmer. There was no need for a jacket in DC or Texas yesterday. As LP said, she was probably a sweaty mess within minutes.

    • Steph says:

+1! It was intentional, all the way. Plus!!!! Even if there was no meaning behind wearing it, then why even bother wearing a jacket that has a message??!?!?!?

    • Bea(trice) says:

I also don’t understand how it would even be a hidden message to the media or an FU to Trump. She wore it after visiting kids, why choose that appearance to troll either?? I’m tired of the excuses for her.

  64. hogtowngooner says:

I can think of a few reasons why she’d do something like this

    – Troll Donnie Dotard by embarrassing him with this grotesque stunt to get back at him for forcing her to pretend to care
    – Mock the imprisoned children, telling them she doesn’t care about them, and neither does POTUS
    – A wink to the Deplorable base, saying “yes, I’m here because those SJW libtards are shrieking about it, but I don’t really GAF about any of this. Don’t worry, we still hate brown people”
    – all of the above

Mocking imprisoned children just to stick it to the libs. What patriots they all are.

  65. Capepopsie says:

I just lost What little sympathy I had left!
Just when you think you’ve hit the bottom,
    Things drop even lower! 🤭

  66. terrah says:

putin had a pr guy who was formerly a conceptual artist. he was behind putting together images that the russian public couldn’t make sense of – putin gitting about on a white pony with his tits out – that kind of thing. The idea is to befuddle people into inertia so you can perpetrate any number of self serving, asset stripping, pocket lining, glad handing tomfoolery. this jacket makes absolutely no sense to anyone – it’s message is SO blatant and ill judged, it can’t possibly be intentional – except when does melty ever wear cheapo zara and it’s not really parka weather so…..it’s intention must be to say yeah – despite this visit i really don’t give a flying fuck about suffering children, but this is an extreme position and clearly not a vote winner so……and round and round we go. trying to get our head round impossibly bizarre shit while these fuckers dismantle america. trump is a great big mad old stunt. and putin and his circus are all over this. be vigilant.

    • MavenTheFirst says:

This is your typical psychopathic mindfuck. That is all. Ignore. They’ve all already shown who they are.

  67. Cara says:

I can’t wait for this sh!t show to be over!!! It’s a nightmare that doesn’t end!!!

  68. Sparkly says:

    Utterly disgusting.

  69. Ladykeller says:

My dream is to be able to wear this coat when her orange Nazi anus mouthed husband and his tribe of grifters are tried at the Hague for crimes against humanity.

    I can always dream right.

  70. Ladykatan says:

Melania is “Be Best”-ing so hard, isn’t she?

Remember right before she disappeared? When she finally announced her initiative as First Lady? It was called “Be Best,” and it was supposed to be and “awareness campaign dedicated to the most valuable and fragile among us — our children.”

Grammatical awkwardness of its name aside, it’s supposed “three main pillars” were “well being, social media use, and opioid abuse”. Which is interesting because her husband’s policy with undocumented children has no concern for their well being, has given them no access to social media (to seek help), and multiple sources have reported that these children are being forcibly injected with various drugs (opiates and antipsychotics) to control them.

She released a pamphlet outlining “her policy” and it was very quickly discovered to be almost completely plagiarized from a early Michelle Obama policy. She slightly changed the introduction and a few subject headers, but the complete text was verbatim.

It was a sloppy and half assed attempt to show Melania cares for children. She obviously does not. When she was called out on it, some emergency surgery and subsequent disappearance happened immediately afterward.

Make no mistake, there was no “hidden message” in this jacket, it was overt. Not only does she clearly not care for children, she is also literally wearing a jacket by a company that has well known atrocious child labor practices.

  71. Bp says:

Well she was secretly the only one I didn’t hate with every fibre of my being….but not now.

    • jammypants says:

That’s reserved for Baron and only because he’s young and hasn’t exercised bigotry yet. Let’s hope he’s nothing like his family. Although it seems indoctrination and arrogance breeds in that family.

  72. Lyla says:

There’s no hidden meaning cause it’s all right there. Has she ever worn Zara in life? She didn’t even bother to wear a Spanish designer when the king and queen of Spain visited, now all of a sudden she’s wearing Zara? Also, why is she wearing a jacket? It’s hot in DC and even hotter in Texas.

Don’t forget she was a birther. She’s awful.

I read that they are actually denaturalizing citizens who lied on their applications. Can she be the first one?

  73. HeyThere! says:

I don’t even know what to say?

I care about the children getting back with their families ASAP. How the hell are they going to do that?

She’s acting like a mad 12 year old! She knew exactly what she was doing. Distracting and making people focus on her!

  74. Gina says:

Horrified that plans for Trumps visit to the UK are still going ahead and he will get to meet The Queen. I’m not American but I dread opening Twitter these days, I’m tired to my bones of crying on a daily basis at the atrocities that are happening in the USA in Trump and the GOP’s name. My grandmother and her sisters escaped Nazi Germany, (they lost their parents though) but my Lithuanian great grandparents on my Dad’s side lost most of their family. I grew up in apartheid South Africa before leaving in my early 20’s. I am scared to come to this site and I no longer read news sites because my heart cannot take it anymore. I don’t know if you understand the ramifications America’s ‘President’ is having on a global scale and how it affects even my teenage children.

  75. khaveman says:

First thing I thought was – this first family has zero class or dignity. All uneducated, selfish sh**heads. The End.

  76. phlyfiremama says:

I am RAGING at how low this frigging administration has sunk. WTactualF. OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!

  77. NANCY says:

    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
    Sugar is sweet
    Melanie is a douche canoe.

  78. --- says:

That’s just the most ignorant jacket in the first place. I don’t know who would wear it….or design it.
But I am speechless at melania trump wearing it ever …much less during her stint as First Lady…and on official business….to a kids shelter. I’m just gonna go focus on something else today……I just can’t with these people anymore.

  79. Jenni says:

She is a piece of trash… I hope this silences anyone who defends her… as she literally doesn’t fucking care… so let’s stop making her out to be a victim.

  80. JRenee says:

The whole world watches. We are imploding. The electoral college needs to be abolished so that the people’s choice can be in office.
This is so low I can’t find words.

  81. Thnuggaboo says:

She should change her name to Melania Joy Waterford Trump……

  82. --- says:

Ok I do have something to say….I think what’s bothering me more than a woman in this day and age saying she doesn’t care……and more than that dumb@ss jacket…….is that she just did it……and no one stopped her. Is there no one there telling her she can’t do that….she’s a public representative and that means you never wear anything that says i dont care. You better f!*#ng care…or go home and sit it out and save some taxpayer money.
Where are the people who are supposed to be handling this…or are they just running amuck. Where’s the protocol and why isn’t it being followed?

  83. Yup says:

I always had a bit of sympathy for her. It is gone. I hope she goes down with her husband. Shame on her, what a horrible person she is.

  84. Ennie says:

Even if she’d visited a regular homeless shelter or an orphanage with o ly white babies, even then is awful, doing this for immigrant children who are in that situation due to hardships in their home countries is very low. I am sorry you fine American filks are stuck with a government of people of stone.

  85. why? says:

Of course she did, did everyone forget that this is the same woman who spread and facilitated birtherism? What did she say about the women who her husband assaulted? Melania is just as heartless and mean spirited as her husband and the press seems to give her much more credit than she deserves. She shows us who she is every day through her silence. It was only after the backlash wouldn’t stop that Melania and Ivanka decided to throw the Dotard under the bus to save themselves. For Melania it was just another photo-op to show off her expensive clothes and shoes. There is no honor or courage in what she does and says because everything she does is to benefit herself, parents, and sister.

How was this a surprise visit? The staff had the kids make a banner to welcome Melania. I wish the press would stop being so complicit. The other day, Lawrence said that Melania should visit these centers and then the next day, the Dotard and his people send her out there to do it, but they mess it up because she didn’t actually visit a real center. Did Melania’s visit to the center bring to mind thoughts of the Red Cross and Theresienstadt? Who would have thought that events that took place in 1944 would be repeated in 2018?

  86. Tila says:

I was starting to feel sorry for her until this. Imagine if Michelle wore the same jacket?! Insensitive bitch.

  87. FredsMother says:

What I want to know is why haven’t Americans…or indeed, any of you here, called for Melania to be stripped of First Lady duties and privileges. She cannot stay in that office or work under the banner after this. Why aren’t the mothers of America calling for this?

    • jwoolman says:

FLOTUS is not an official or paid or elected position. It’s just a sexist tradition. She has no obligation to do anything.

  88. Guest says:

I wonder could that message was for dtfump?

  89. Rescue Cat says:

That’s a perfect jacket for a sociopath to wear, the rest of of the ruling class should also wear outfits which denote their true feelings “do you think I’m interested in your issues,” “It’s your problem you deal with it,” “go screw off, I’m busy,” or “homeless tough luck.”

  90. Yes Doubtful says:

This is the first honest thing I’ve seen from her. I 100% believe that she does not care. I hope the gullible people who have been defending her have now seen what kind of person she is. She may not say much or do much, but believe that she is no better than her husband.

  91. FF says:

Not sure why this even needs parsing when the point is that this was neither a time or place for ANY “statements” or conversations about any subject other than the detained children.

Making it such an “opportunity” is what shows you who Melania and her administration are.

  92. Jayne Birkinb says:

Simon Maloy on twitter: “We need to pause for a moment to appreciate the absurdity of the First Lady going on a humanitarian fact-finding trip to witness abuses ordered by her husband.”

  93. MrsK says:

Is anyone else curious as to where and when she acquired this jacket? First of all, it’s from 2016, and secondly, she certainly doesn’t browse through Zara. She never mixes high and low fashion. Even when she wears jeans or “workboots” (Alaska) or lumberjack shirts (White House vegetable garden) – they are always the most expensive designer interpretation.

She fully aware of the impact of her coat, whatever it meant. Whether it was simply her statement about the situation, or a dig at the fat Nazi, she knew very well that the coat would overshadow the purpose of her trip and keep the public buzzing about the great cipher that is Melania. But I think she also had accomplices for the whole juvenile spectacle, a friend or staff member who already owned the jacket (or whose teenaged daughter owned the jacket), who told her about it and lent it to her. Because she lives so high in the clouds, I don’t think she would have known of its existence at all, unless someone told her about it.

Horrible people. I can’t wait till this is over.
