Ok this is a thread where everyone can post the botched medical procedures of CKII

For instance I got the flu and my physician cut off my leg to cure me.

Another char got the Great Pox and physician turned him into a Eunuch. Then he got cancer and the doctor gouged his eye out.

What are your medical experiences in the game?

I had the first one lost a leg to the flu. Is there ever any point in taking the risky procedure? I haven't seen one yet and I've been taking that option regularly because I felt I couldn't keep getting unlucky.

My Character got Consumption and the Physician decided that he wanted to stick something up his.. I will allow this Screenshot to tell the story. Regardless it did not heal my Consumption. Also I sadly did not take a screenshot of it. But my next Physician still trying to treat my consumption decided that I should drink the urine of a Sow Cow.

It's medieval....They have much far more advanced medical technology beyond our understanding. :p

My King caught the flu and the doctor's treatment caused me to lose an eye. Interesting treatment option. I would have gone with "Go back to bed for the next day or two" but I'm no trained doctor.

With all the events i've seen sofar Reapers Due seems to be a comedy DLC created by Ben Stiller... I know, back then medicine was still an infant but this is ridiculous. Much like Sunset Invasion. Fun to fool around a bit but after a while permanent deactiveted.
Good thing i didn't waste money on it.

Man, these stuff sounds great! I really shouldn't be throwing more money on this game but I suspect that's what I will do! :D

You choose your treatment level, if you choose Experimental when you have the Flu and the doctor cuts your leg off you only have yourself to blame. Save it for either when you have other health issues or when it's a serious illness.

You got Consumption in the ass? Or it was just a pretext for your gay physician to have some fun with your char? LOL

Got chest pains.Went looking for a mystic. Found attractive witch. Hired her on the spot. Was taking a bath. She came in with some Goats. Sliced Goats neck on the spot. Got Goats blood pour on me. Lost chest pains. But gained cruel trait.

I had assumed chest pains were incurable and that my dynasty had a genetic predilection for heart disease. I wonder are certain disease more common among certain families than others in game?

My court physician somwhow managed to botch the treatment of my genious heir. So that was fun. (no screenie unfortunately)

About the experimental treatment though, one of characters was awake during a treatment while paralysed, while he was supposed to be unconcious, and got a healthy doze of cray cray. It completely cured him though, and he held the most awesome parties afterwards, so it wasn't really bad. Then the voices just disappeared some day, which was odd (IT'S TOO QUIET).

It seems the problem for me is that the is AI making these kind of decisions, e.g. my son and heir deciding that when he had the flu it would be a good idea to allow the physician to castrate him, thus removing him from the succession. Whilst hilarious, I'm not sure a medieval learned person in their right mind would do this even if they thought it would cure the problem due to the ire bought on them by the King.

Well in 580s Emperor Justin II developed bladder stones. The court physician suggested a revolutionary surgical procedure but he warned the Emperor that something could go wrong.

The Court tried to stop the Emperor from having this dangerous surgery but Justin who was in excruciating pain gave the doctor his dagger as a sign that he consents to surgery and ordered him to begin.

Doctor performed the surgery as told but he fucked it up so badly that he was obliged to remove the Emperor's penis and testicles in order to save him from septic shock. However that didn't help either and Emperor Justin II died few hours later from sepsis.

True story. That's how he died.

Fair enough though one assumes that the pain led to the choice of location for surgery. Kinda hard to justify cutting off yer B***ocks if you've got a rough case of the flu. :)
I remember reading an account of a medieval Muslim physician encountering a Christian doctor, who opened a woman’s skull and salted her brain to cure severe running nose (probably some allergy). She died.

Oh, doctors in old times had some real crazy ideas about how various organs interacted. This has prevailed in "alternative" medicine to this day with all the chakras, acupuncture/acupressure points and other such ideas. Not to mention ideas for physical treatment of mental maladies which were a horror show even in the 20th century...
