Wes Hurley is a Russian-born Seattle-based filmmaker and writer. He wrote, directed, and produced two features—the queer pop-art comedy musical “Fallen Jewel” and a documentary “Waxie Moon”—as well as over a dozen shorts. Hurley is also the creator of the critically acclaimed Capitol Hill TV series, a comedy-horror soap opera starring Seattle drag icons Waxie Moon, BenDeLaCreme, and Jinkx Monsoon. Capitol Hill began as a web series on Huffington Post and was picked up for television in Europe and Canada. Hurley’s short autobiographical documentary “Little Potato” won dozens of awards around the world, including Jury Prize at SXSW and Audience Award at Outfest by HBO. Its companion VR/360 piece, Potato Dreams premiered at AFI Fest and International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.
