The proposed program, based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), provides
module-based resources for youth including topics such as understanding emotions, retraining
thoughts, stress relief activities, and relationships. The desired outcome for the program is to
have an increase in mental health services in rural Northeast Missouri and decrease the reported
instances of depression and anxiety for adolescents in the area. The potential for digital
marketing in this area will allow for communication through multiple channels. Additionally,
easy access to the program will eliminate any barriers on accessing the program, by providing
links in the social media posts to the sign in page and posting step-by-step instructions on how to
access the program.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to describe the need for the digital intervention as
evaluated by the presentation of data depicting adolescents' mental health and identify a plan to accomplish the
intervention by detailing a plan for implementation (2.3.4) (6.1.3)

Kirstyn Dietle

Student

Truman State University

Kirstyn is from a small Northeastern Missouri town near Hannibal, Missouri. Growing up, she lived a rural life. Having the opportunity to work with her team on this project at Truman State University meant a lot to her, as it was using real data from their part of Missouri to show how they would help youth from areas like Kirstyn grew up in. She finds the lack of resources, especially for mental health, as saddening. Kirstyn believes showing what can be done with technology interventions is something that can hopefully be utilized more in the future, especially for rural areas!
