Prince Charles Is Your Weatherman; Jon Hamm, Your Guidance Counselor
Every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the video clips that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention.
We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today: Prince Charles delivers the weather, Phony Batman delivers the weather, and Jon Hamm deliver some sensible advice to the young ladies of the Internet.
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales -- last seen on The Atlantic Wire cutting a cake with a sword -- did another non prince-ly thing today, delivering the weather report for Scotland on the BBC. He was pretty good! A little too much pointing, perhaps, but at least he had the presence of mind not to wear a blue note. (On a semi-related note: in you live in Edinborough don't plan on a weekend bicycling trip. It sounds like it's going to be just awful. [via ITN News]
In other news involving people delivering the weather who typically don't give forecasts: Batman -- not the real Batman -- stopped by the Fox affiliate here in Washington D.C. to take a look at the five-day outlook. The faux Bruce Wayne achieved a degree local infamy when he was photographed receiving a speeding ticket. Once again, he proved to be a big hit. Also: it's going to be 72 and clear for the foreseeable future. (Unlike Glasgow.) [via The Washington Post]
Here's an interesting, exciting, and frankly kind of troubling video about how human expansion has changed the face of the earth -- not for the better, of course -- over the past 250 years. The video is untitled, but we'd suggest Blame It on the Railroad and the Artificial Fertilizers, Too. [arlindbosh via The Atlantic]
