When we think of crops growing in a field, it’s natural for our minds to wander to a picture of rolling fields that extend further than the eye can see. However, this isn’t always the case.

Smaller fields and pastures are also often times used as areas for crop growth as well, and they too require nutrient application to reach their fullest potential. With these types of fields and specialty crops in mind, John Deere recently announced the introduction of the Frontier LS11 Series 3-point mounted sprayers.

LS11 Series 3-point Mounted Sprayer

Available in four models, these sprayers are ideally suited for a wide variety of applications. Let’s take a closer look at what they have to offer.

Four Boom-Width Models

The new 3-point mounted sprayer series comes available in widths ranging from 25-ft. to 40-ft. The width of the boom should be selected based on the application needs, crop uses, and terrain. Scott Geier, marketing manager, partnered products for John Deere, says “We made them to be easy to operate and provide the high level of application accuracy that customers expect from a rear-mounted sprayer.”

Two Tank Sizes

In addition to a variety of boom widths, the LS11 sprayers also come available with multiple tank sizes and other options. Customers can choose between the 250-gallon (946.3 liters) or 300-gallon (1135.6 liters) tanks, which feature a tear-drop design that allows liquid to easily drain from the tank. Additionally, they can be hydraulically powered or powered by the rear PTO. The sprayers are compatible with the Category 2 or Category 3 quick-hitch.

Additional Key Features

The new sprayers include a host of additional standard features that are worth noting, including:

  • A handheld spray wand for spaces that are hard to reach
  • Integrated parking stand and fork-lift pockets
  • Wet booms that are designed to extend the life of the sprayer hardware
  • A single nozzle body (standard). Triple nozzle body can be added to 40-ft. boom sprayers

Final Thoughts

“These sprayers can easily fit on a wide variety of tractors with 3-point hitches to make spray applications fast and effective,” Geier continues. “More importantly, these sprayers are an affordable complement to the extensive lineup of Frontier products currently available from John Deere.”
