 Terrorists are causing more havoc in the city.

 I am the police commissioner of the capital city. Today, some terrorists have been arrested. They have to ask some questions.

 I asked the leader of the terrorists, “Why did you suddenly start terrorist activities in the city?”

 Surprising me, the leader rebuked me and said, “Don't tell us terrorists.”

 I smiled angrily and said, “Terrorists are working, so I said.”

 The leader then said, “We are pacifist people. You have unjustly arrested us for doing pacifist work.”

 I laughed a little more and said, “You broke down buses, trucks, and jeeps. You hurt people by blocking them. You even went to great lengths to bring down the government. Are you still claiming to be a pacifist?”

 Leader: - I have done these for the peace of the people.

 I: - What kind of peace?

 Leader: - There is no democracy in the country, people do not have rights, so there is no peace of the people of the country. That is why we are carrying out a pacifist movement for the peace of the people through the fall of the government.

 I: - If you do not like this government, then participate in the next parliamentary elections.

 Leader: - You policemen are underlings. When those who comes to power, the police in charge of that government.

 I: - Yes, we are the government's underlings. The first condition of government service is to obey orders from the loyalists of the government. This is underling in your language. If you come to power in a democratic process, then we will do the same to you.

 Leader: - When there will be an election, when we will be put in power by public vote if there is no hope. The peace of the people must be established by overthrowing the government this September.

 I was a little surprised to hear this and asked, “Why is the government going to fall this September?”

 Leader: - You are the Commissioner of Police, you do not understand why we are trying to fall the government in September?

 I said, “I'm a cop, but I'm not an introvert. I will not understand your mind if you don't say so.”

 Leader: - Even if you are not introverted, try to understand by guessing.

 I: - I'm not a private detective in the story-novel. So, I can't guess. And I don't have much time to guess. You have to say why you are creating anarchy in the name of pacifism.

 Angered by my words, the leader said to me, “What if I don't say?”

 I also looked at the leader with a fixed gaze and said, “I am asking politely now. But if you do not say, then one of my inspectors will ask in the conventional style. Then you will say the real thing and say more.”

 On hearing this, the pacifist leader said in fear, “In fact, we are campaigning for the fall of the government to win the Nobel Peace Prize.”

 I: - What is the relationship between the fall of the government and the Nobel Peace Prize?

 Leader: - We are agitating for democracy and human rights. And some of us are uploading videos to YouTube. The Nobel Committee will see this and give us the Nobel Peace Prize. And we will share that prize money among ourselves. This is why we pacifists have been silent all year but have been active this September.

 I: - This is the main purpose of your movement?

 Leader: - Yes, that is the main purpose.

 I: - If you do not get the Nobel Peace Prize, what will you do?

 Leader: - Do nothing.

 I: - Then what is the benefit of the movement?

 Leader: - No risk, no gain. You have to take such a risk to achieve so much.

 I: - We will give you the jurisdiction of the court. Then, if the court sends you to jail, what will you do?

 Leader: - We don't care.

শহরে সন্ত্রাসবাদীরা বেশি উৎপাত করছে।

রাজধানী শহরের পুলিশ কমিশনার আমি। আজ কয়েকজন সন্ত্রাসবাদীকে ধরে আনা হয়েছে। তাদেরকে কিছু প্রশ্ন করতে হবে।

সন্ত্রাসবাদীদের নেতাকে আমি জিজ্ঞেস করলাম, " হঠাৎ করে আপনারা শহরে সন্ত্রাসবাদী কাজ শুরু করলেন কেন? "

আমাকে অবাক করে দিয়ে নেতাটা ধমকে উঠে বলল, " আমাদেরকে সন্ত্রাসবাদী বলবেননা বলে দিলাম।"

আমি তখন না রেগে মুচকি মুচকি হেসে বললাম, " সন্ত্রাসবাদী কাজ করছেন, তাই বললাম। "

নেতাটা তখন বলল, " আমরা শান্তিবাদী মানুষ। শান্তিবাদী কাজ করার কারণে আপনারা আমাদেরকে অন্যায়ভাবে গ্রেফতার করে এনেছেন। "

আমি আরেকটু হেসে বললাম, " আপনারা ভাঙলেন বাস, ট্রাক ও জিপ। অবরোধ করে মানুষকে কষ্ট দিলেন, এমনকি সরকার পতনের জন্য ব্যাপক অপতৎপর হয়েছেন। এরপরও নিজেদেরকে শান্তিবাদী দাবি করছেন? "

নেতা :- এগুলো করেছি জনগণের শান্তির জন্যই।

আমি :- কী রকম শান্তির জন্য?

নেতা :- দেশে গণতন্ত্র নাই, মানুষের অধিকার নাই, তাই দেশের মানুষের শান্তিও। এই কারণেই সরকার পতনের মাধ্যমে জনগণের শান্তির জন্য আমরা শান্তিবাদী আন্দোলন করছি।

আমি :- এই সরকার যদি আপনাদের ভালো না লাগে, তাহলে আগামী সংসদ নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করুন।

নেতা :- আপনারা পুলিশরা হচ্ছেন তাঁবেদার। যখন যে ক্ষমতায় আসে, তখন সেই সরকারেরই তাঁবেদারি করেন।

আমি :- হ্যাঁ, আমরা তো সরকারের তাঁবেদারই। সরকারি চাকরির প্রথম শর্তই হচ্ছে সরকারের অনুগত থেকে হুকুম পালন করা। এটাই আপনাদের ভাষায় তাঁবেদারি। আপনারা যদি গণতান্ত্রিক প্রক্রিয়ায় ক্ষমতায় আসেন, তাহলে আপনাদেরও তাঁবেদারি করব।

নেতা :- কখন নির্বাচন হবে, কখন আমাদেরকে পাবলিক ভোট দিয়ে ক্ষমতায় বসাবে, সেই আশায় থাকলে হবেনা। এই সেপ্টেম্বর মাসেই সরকারের পতন করে জনগণের শান্তি প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে হবে।

এই কথা শোনে আমি একটু অবাক হয়ে জিজ্ঞেস করলাম, " এই সেপ্টেম্বর মাসেই কেন সরকার পতন করতে চাচ্ছেন? "

নেতা :- আপনি পুলিশ কমিশনার, আপনি বুঝেননা কেন সেপ্টেম্বরেই সরকারের পতন ঘটাতে চাচ্ছি?

আমি বললাম, " আমি পুলিশ, কিন্তু অন্তর্যামী নই যে আপনি না বললেও আপনার মনের কথা বুঝে নেব।"

নেতা :- অন্তর্যামী না হলেও অনুমান করে বুঝে নেন।

আমি :- আমি গল্প – উপন্যাসের প্রাইভেট ডিটেক্টিভ না। তাই অনুমান করে বুঝতে পারবনা। আর অনুমান করার এত সময়ও আমার নাই। আপনারা কেন শান্তিবাদের নামে অরাজকতা করছেন, সেটা বলতেই হবে।

আমার এই কথা শোনে রাগ করে আমাকে নেতা বলল, " যদি না বলি? "

আমিও তখন নেতার দিকে স্থির দৃষ্টিতে তাকিয়ে বললাম, " আমি এখন ভদ্রভাবে জিজ্ঞেস করছি। কিন্তু আপনি যদি না বলেন, তাহলে প্রচলিত স্টাইলে আমারই এক দারোগা জিজ্ঞেস করবে। তখন আপনি আসল কথা তো বলবেনই সঙ্গে বানিয়ে বানিয়ে আরো কথাও বলবেন। "

এই কথা শোনে শান্তিবাদী নেতা ভয় পেয়ে বলল, " আসলে আমরা শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজ পেতে সরকার পতনের আন্দোলন করছি। "

আমি :- সরকার পতনের সঙ্গে শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজের সম্পর্ক কী?

নেতা :- আমরা গণতন্ত্র ও মানুষের অধিকারের জন্য আন্দোলন করছি। আর আমাদের কতিপয় ইউটিউবার সেগুলো ভিডিও করে আপলোড করছে। নোবেল কমিটি এগুলো দেখে আমাদেরকে শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজ দেবে। আর আমরা সেই প্রাইজ মানি নিজেদের মধ্যে ভাগাভাগি করে নেব। এই কারণেই আমরা শান্তিবাদীরা সারা বছর নীরব থাকলেও এই সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে সক্রিয় হয়েছি।

আমি :- এটাই তাহলে আপনাদের আন্দোলনের মূল উদ্দেশ্য?

নেতা :- হ্যাঁ, এটাই মূল উদ্দেশ্য। 

আমি :- যদি শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজ না পান, তাহলে কী করবেন?

নেতা :- কিছুই করবনা।

আমি :- তাহলে আন্দোলন করে লাভ কী?

নেতা :- নো রিস্ক, নো গেইন। এত বড় অর্জনের জন্য এমন ঝুঁকি নিতেই হয়।

আমি :- আপনাদেরকে আমরা আদালতের এখতিয়ারে দিয়ে দেব। তখন আদালত যদি আপনাদেরকে জেলে প্রেরণ করে, তবে কী করবেন?

নেতা :- জেল হলে হবে।
