UR implementing Duo Security two-factor authentication for BannerWeb access

January 24, 2019

Effective February 5, 2019, Duo Security two-factor authentication (2FA) will be required to access BannerWeb from off-campus locations.

As you prepare for the start of Summer School registration on March 19, you will need to install Duo on a mobile device to access BannerWeb from home or work.

Two-factor authentication strengthens security by requiring two factors to verify your identity, such as something you know (netID/password) plus something you have (mobile device/app). Using the Duo Mobile smartphone app (for iOS, Android) is the simplest and preferred method for obtaining the second-factor codes.

Information Services has provided useful instructions for setting up 2FA using the Duo smartphone app and for logging into BannerWeb from off campus using Duo. You may also find the Duo FAQ useful.

If you have questions or need assistance installing Duo for BannerWeb access, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@richmond.edu or (804) 287-6400. You may also stop by the Help Desk in Jepson Hall G-19. Help Desk normal operating hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

If you do not have access to a mobile device for 2FA, you may visit the Help Desk to receive and enroll one free Duo hardware token. Review Enroll a Hardware Token for more details.
