Take Action: Michigan kids deserve clean water
Why this petition matters
The Flint Water Crisis was not a natural disaster. It was a manmade failure of leadership.
As a former senior advisor to Gov. Snyder said in the Detroit Free Press, "Government is not a business…and it cannot be run like one... The people of Flint got stuck on the losing end of decisions driven by spreadsheets instead of water quality and public health.”
Gov. Snyder now has an opportunity to show he’s serious about protecting the Great Lakes and public health when he appoints a new Michigan Department of Environmental Quality director.
This time around, that decision should be made with people in mind—not numbers. Business as usual isn’t cutting it in Michigan.
When the Governor’s task force investigated the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s mishandling of the Flint Water Crisis, they called it “unacceptable and simply insufficient to the task of public protection.” It will take a fresh start at the top to turn things around.
We need a leader who will:
1. Put human health and the environment first.
2. Protect cleaner air and water for all Michigan communities.
3. Make Michigan a national leader in environmental protection.
Will you join us in holding Gov. Snyder accountable for bringing in new leadership who will put your health and your clean water first?
