CCI Weekend Update!

Dear CCI Family and Friends,

Here's what's coming up around Christian Challenge this weekend and beyond:
  • Saturday, 11:15AM, Movie Outing "The Star" - Becky Abbott is coordinating an outing to view the cute new Christmas movie entitled "The Star - the Story of the First Christmas" on Saturday morning. We'll be gathering in the lobby of the Grand Theatre in Alexandria between 10:45-11:00AM. This animated movie seeks to retell the story of Jesus' birth through the eyes of animals. Obviously it's a stretch - but it's a cute way to give you a conversation starter with your children. Tickets are $8.29 per person. My kids are excited about going! (And I'm looking forward to it, too! ;)

  • Sunday, 10:00AM, Sunday Worship - This is going to be a very exciting service! We're going to be joined by some of our CCI alumni who are ministering in other areas! Leading our worship will be Eddie Ramer is serving as the Associate Minister of Worship and Ministry at the United Evangelical Free Church in Klamath Falls, Oregon! Eddie and his family are in town for the holidays and I'm excited that he's agreed to lead worship for us this Sunday! But that's not all! Bringing the teaching ministry Sunday morning will be Nick Spurgeon who is an Assistant Pastor at Parkside Church in Cleveland, Ohio, overseeing Support Groups and Seniors. Nick and Alison are also in town visiting family for the holidays and I'm excited to hear him minister on "Jesus: The Priest We Need." This is going to be an exciting service and I look forward to seeing you there!

  • Monday, 5:30PM, Christmas Play Rehearsal - If you haven't heard, we've got an exciting Christmas Celebration coming up Dec 23 and 24th! You may have already heard about our choir, but we're also going to have a Christmas Drama!!! This one is perfect for all our children to get involved with, although we still need a few adults to play some crucial roles. If you're the least bit interested, or if you think your children are ever a bit overly dramatic <grin>, come join us for our first Christmas Play rehearsal Monday at 5:30 in the Sanctuary!
That's what's coming up this weekend and into the future. I hope you had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving celebration! And as we move into the Christmas season, let's look for ways that we can share the good news of the Savior who came to give His life as a ransom for all! By the way, one way you can minister to others this season is to help out with the Salvation Army Bell-ringing campaign. Nora Fisher is coordinating CCI's participation so see her for details. Now here are a few things to put on your planning calendar!
  • Float Decorating Party, Thursday, Dec 7, 6:00PM
  • Pineville Christmas Parade, Friday, Dec 8, 7:00PM
  • Ball Christmas Parade, Saturday, Dec 9, 2:00PM
  • Christmas Church Social, Saturday, Dec 23, 6:00PM
  • Carols & Communion by Candlelight, Sunday, Dec 24, 10:00AM
  • Mexico Mission Trip, Dec 26-Jan 1
  • Work as Worship Conference, Feb 23
Hopefully this helps you mark your calendars to be able to participate in these great events! I look forward to worshiping with you this coming Sunday! And always remember...

I love serving Jesus with you!
Nathan
