A pair of Louis XV–style chairs were updated with Sherwin-Williams paint in Parakeet. Charles Stewart Company's Durango chairs sit in a Duralee print. The spool table showcased in the room's center is by Pratt & Lambert's Postal Blue, while the walls are painted in C2 Paint's Shaker.

Mismatched chairs around a simple table made of reclaimed pine create a casual atmosphere in the dining room — the Metal Marais Vintage chairs are from Industry West. Curtains in Duralee's Croxley are pushed back for extra, natural light. The original pine floors were sanded down slightly. "I don't even think we had to stain them," Gourd says. "They had a natural richness that comes only with time."

Simple Shaker-style kitchen cabinets in a creamy color are set off by dark counters made of Vermont soapstone, "a living material that will age and stain over the years, and that's part of its beauty," says Gourd. A Grohe faucet sits atop the island. The back door is painted in Benjamin Moore's Smoldering Red.

A Gwendoline spindle bed by Bradshaw Kirchofer, handmade from solid pine, is the focal point of the master bedroom. It is accompanied by a small table from Ballard Designs. The room's chair is upholstered in Kravet's Versailles velvet, and all is surrounded by leaf wallpaper by Katie Ridder. The modern Classic sconce on the wall is from Shades of Light, grounded with a Montreaux carpet by Stark.
