PITTSBURGH — Pitt will attempt something on Saturday that the Panthers haven’t done all season, and something they haven’t done in several seasons.
They’ll take on No. 23 Louisville, looking for their first win on the road this season after an 0-4 start. Pitt hasn’t won a road game since Feb. 8, 2017, when Pitt beat Boston College, and the Panthers have dropped 17 straight games on the campus of an opponent.
It’s also been a while since Pitt beat a team twice in the same season. The Panthers already knocked off Louisville at home this year, winning 89-86 in overtime at Petersen Events Center on Jan. 9.
Last season, Pitt played five teams twice, and Duke, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame and Syracuse all swept the Panthers. In 2016-17, Pitt went 1-1 against Georgia Tech and Syracuse, 1-2 against Virginia and 0-2 against Louisville and North Carolina.
In Jamie Dixon’s final season, the Panthers went 3-0 against Syracuse, the last time Pitt swept an opponent in a season.
