The Devil has a British Accent: Jackson

Rate this book
A Hollywood explosion has occurred after photos sprung up of the infamous, Jackson Cruz, in an intimate embrace with an unknown named Lauren Moreau. They met while he was in New Orleans filming the Primal Darkness series with his on-screen (and rumored off-screen) love interest Zara Tilly. Reps for both Cruz and Tilly have been silent. No one knows how this will affect the highly anticipated film's release. These two are holding all the cards for David Black, studio head and the mastermind of the Primal Darkness phenomenon. Sources say that Black is out for blood. Hollywood, nothing is ever as it seems.

Celebrity romance with a touch of paranormal...
Lauren has come back home to wrk for some months and help out her family. She is assisting her aunt who is catering for a film crew. Jackson is the lead for the movie

It was a little difficult to get the hang of the story but soon it become interesting and I couldn't put it down. The whole tone of the book has a very different vibe which hooks the reader.

This installment ends in a cliffy but I am looking forward to read the next one.

Received this book from Goodreads as a giveaway win. Wasn't aware of this author previously, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I did know I was definitely interested in the story line.

Upon starting this and getting further into the story I started making comparisons somewhat to the Twilight Series. I think that was more because of the fantasy aspect of what the story started to become.

I enjoyed the characters, the storyline of each. The story was easy to follow. Was slightly edgy, sweet and maddening all at the same time. Left your emotions like a roller coaster ride, up and down. This way and that.

Eagerly want to read the next book to see what's in store for these characters. Thank you Z.N. Willett, for giving me a chance to discover a new Author and new storylines to enjoy.

This book was so good. The writing was consistent, the characters were likable, and the story was easy for me to get into. The love triangle between Jackson, Lauren, and Cary was a unique one considering the circumstances. I'm eager to read more about these characters, and explore the supernatural world with them. I enjoyed reading this book, and am excited for the next story in this series.

Most of this book is written as a contemporary romance. It’s not until way down the road that the paranormal aspects come out. That doesn’t take away from the book. I liked trying to figure out what was going to happen. And I really can’t wait to see what happens in the book(s) to come.

Lauren has gone through a lot in her 18 years. I’m not going to retell the story, but I have to say that when a film crew comes to her town and she helps cater it, she doesn’t need all the drama that comes with meeting and dating the star of the movie. The drama that unfolds with just that was too much for a normal person. It’s mostly media drama. I can’t imagine reading all the bad things people wrote if I were her. How people can even get so caught up in celebrities’ lives is beyond me. I say, Get a life! This is why I usually shy away from Hollywood type books, but there is more to the Hollywood drama.

I didn’t feel any connection between Lauren and Jackson, the movie star. Lauren even says that, though she feels drawn to him, it’s just sexual. However, it seems like it could be more, or wants to be more, but just isn’t. It’s really hard to gauge what it is between them. I almost want to say it’s a paranormal trick, but I’m not sure. Plus, Jackson has a bad temper, and Lauren is smart, so why she took all his excuses and apologies is beyond me.

I loved Cary as soon as he is introduced. He is another famous star who has known Lauren and her brother all their lives. I just wish he would have stepped up and declared his feelings. Lauren goes through more heartbreak over him than she does her own “boyfriend.”

There are many other characters in this book, some more important than others. However, I can’t figure out how to talk about them without giving away the plot and climax. I will say most of them are bad. Well, the ones who were in the book more than others. Laurens network of family and friends seem really strong. Her grandma was a bit cruel in her talking down on Lauren all the time. I don’t know who was the devil in the British accent. I thought Cary was the only one with the accent and he is certainly no devil, but I might have missed that. Was there someone else? Anyone out there who knows, please tell me.

I want the next book, like, tomorrow! I have lots of guesses on some of the conversations that are leading and some of the things that happen in the story, yet Lauren hasn’t figured out what is what. I want to know! Lol! This is why I love paranormal—the possibilities are endless!

The Devil has a British Accent was a great 5 star read.

Lauren has returned home to help with a catering job at a plantation, where there is also a hollywood movie filming. It’s New Years Eve and she is at a club watching her brothers band, where she meets hot hollywood hunk, Jackson.

Jackson remembers that Lauren is working with catering and he comes and finds her on set. There is something about Lauren that pulls Jackson in, she’s not like the usual girls he meets. She treated him like a normal person.

As things progress for Jackson and Lauren there are a few obstacles that occur. Of course the hollywood groupies and fake romances with co-stars adds quite the drama. And her brothers friend Cary, that Lauren is also close to and may also have some feelings for adds a little more.
Every time he called me “love”, it made my heart beat a little faster.

I’m trying to bring my head above water, but I am failing.

There are so many unexpected twists that my head was spinning. I loved Lauren’s strength. And to have two hot men wanting you boy I was so on the fence with who I wanted to see her end up with. They both had certain things I loved and the huge secret that Lauren discovers about both of the men, wow I didn’t expect that. We end in a cliff hanger and I need to know what’s next. I am impatiently waiting for the next book in the series. If you're looking for a great read with lots of twists and surprises this is your series. 1-click and get started today.

The Devil Has a British Accent is a coming of age romance with a paranormal twist. A girl who has to protect her heart and the men who want her.

Lauren has just returned from Minnesota after graduating.  She doesn't have any real plans for the future but has decided to help a family friend with her catering business while a film crew is in town.  I liked Lauren, she has gone through a lot with her family and is figuring out what comes next and that makes her relatable.  She is also trying to figure out her love life when a sexy actor enters her life.  There is something about him that she is drawn to.

Jackson Cruz is an actor that finds himself completely infatuated with this small town girl.   He has many secrets that could change her life forever.  I didn't like Jackson for Lauren.  He wasn't my favorite character.  I wondered why he cut himself off emotionally to her a lot of the time and I think because of that I didn't connect with him as much as I wanted to.

Cary is another actor/musician that is famous but has been a family friend to Lauren's family since they were children.  He is best friends with her brother Blake.  I really liked his character. I knew he was keeping secrets from Lauren but there is something about the way he cares for her and her brother that stuck out to me.

I found The Devil Has a British Accent to be a good coming of age paranormal romance.  The beginning was a little bit on the long side but the ending was fast-paced and Lauren's world really changed forever.  This is a to be continued story so I can't wait until the next installment.

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"Hollywood star" meets "everyday girl" romance.... I think not

The scene is set in New Orleans, with the focus on the main character. Lauren a smart, headstrong girl who on the day of returning to her hometown meets none other than Hollywood heart throb "Jackson Cruze".

There relationship is turbulent at best, due to not only the demands from Jacksons career but everything Ells that comes with being a "Hollywood Star". Fans, a mock relationship with costar Zara to build ratings and fans interests , and a seemingly dangerous David Black who works for Ahriman studios.

But is it the man, or her feelings for family friend Cary, that she refuses to put her all into the relationship.
Within the story line there is a much bigger picture, a young girl trying to find herself and where she belongs.

With a mother who has mental health issues and is no longer apart of the families everyday life, a brother she adores, who refuses to acknowledge he has a drinking problem, which only escalates as his music career takes off. A father murdered years before....

Z.N. Willett has written this book well, it's the subtle hints, words used, that make you feel or sense rather that people are not all as they appear and more is happening in Lauren's word than she seems to know or think possible.

This book contains light paranormal elements, which would appeal to a diverse audience from young teen to mature adult.

Many questions are left unanswered at the ending, as the continuation rests in the next book of the series.

Can't wait to read book 2

Who doesn’t enjoy a story filled with possible romance, twists and turns and divine inspiration. We begin with meeting Lauren, a teenage girl who had been living away from home to go to school, who is introduced to Jackson, a famous actor. She is returning home to work for her Mother’s best friend after graduating High School and is reunited with her brother’s best friend, her unrequited love, Cary.

When I first started reading this book I thought I’d be reading a romance story but that’s too simple and really doesn’t define this book. In my opinion its underlying theme is all about manipulation – how people feel, how they are perceived and what is real or not. Then throw in Lauren’s mysterious background and how it affects her future and you’ve got a tale that cannot be put down.

She has a strained relationship with all those she considers family. What she believes to be true seems to be false – who does she trust when she can’t even trust her own feelings? She’s on a rollercoaster and it is gaining speed. Growing up is never easy especially when you’ve been living in the dark.

Now I’m not one to spoil an ending so there are no spoilers here. What I can say is that my confusion after starting the book was cleared up and even though I don’t have all the answers (yet!) this book had me hooked. My only disappointment is that I wanted more and truly cannot wait for the next book in this series. Bring it on!

"This is no simple Hollywood story of famous boy meets ordinary girl, who then fall in love and live happily ever after." Normally I don't quote the blurb, but there's never been a truer first sentence to me, as it perfectly sums up this story! Basically, Lauren comes home and meets Jackson Cruze, a hot commodity movie star, but while they have sparks, there is also Cary on the flip side. So you think it would be another love triangle right?! Let me defuse that pattern of thinking, as that's so not what I just read! Sure it does come into play, but the secrets that came out of left field left me dropping new versions of loud f-bombs instead. I love Z.N. Willett's talented writing style, as it's highly addictive, but I never saw this one coming! To me, it makes her diabolically brilliant, and highly original! I know I know, I'm being very cryptic, but it would be too easy to give spoiler douchery away, and that's not how I roll. However, I don't want to forget to talk about the cliffy that has me all kinds of twisted up, and now she's on the list of authors trying to KILL ME! And if I haven't done it before, I'm hash tagging her #EVILWHORE forevermore! The next book cannot come out quickly enough, but in the meantime, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Five Amazing Stars! Lauren returns to her hometown for a catering gig working for none other then Hollywood heartthrob Jackson Cruze. Their relationship is complicated not only due to the demands of being a Hollywood heartthrob but also because he has a mock relationship with his co-star. Lauren also is complicating things because she is good friends with Cary who has feelings for her. I recommend you go and grab a copy today and read it to discover what this story is all about! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and was hooked from the first few pages of the book. The author writes a well-written story and you will never see the twists and turns that come out of left field. I absolutely loved the characters and found that they had great chemistry! The story does end on a cliffhanger which will have you dying to get your hands on the next book! I really liked the fact that Lauren had two hot men who wanted her! Get ready for a great ride! I highly recommend this book!

The Devil has a British Accent (finished 7/26/17)

4 Stars

This book through me off. It's a story of a young girl going back home to New Orleans after finishing high school in a different start with her uncle as her guardian. She goes home to her brother and her grandmother. She takes a job as a catering assistant with her aunt on a movie set filming at a local plantation house. She catches the eye of the male lead who wants her, but she's shy and can't understand why he would be interested in her when he's famous.

Often throughout this book the timing was off. Like the author would mention a few days later, but really it was the same day which causes so much confusion for the reader. Then at the end of the book you realize this is more of a paranormal book, because there are angels involved! It was hard to follow, and so many times one chapter would contradict another causing even more confusion.

The idea is a good one, and I would classify this more as a new adult paranormal romance, even going so far as saying young adult novel.

I received a copy of this book from Eye Candy Bookstore . I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Any mention of New Orleans and you have my attention! There is always something strange happening there whether it be on your face or subtle....anyhow my interest has been piqued..

So Lauren heads home to New Orleans from Minnesota and not having a real plan for what happens next in her life she helps her aunt with her catering business and right now her clients are the filming crew in town.....

Where there's a crew there's actors and Lauren catchesbtheveye of none other than Jackson Cruz. There's something off about him though , I can't put my finger on it let's just call it 6th sense....

Then there's Cory , best friend to Blake, that's Laurens brother. He's both an actor and musician . What I can't get my head around is that he really seems to care for these people but he keeps things from them . .

All is not what it seems though and things speed up here towards the end . I've a few questions and in hoping to find the answers in the next book.

First time reader and PNR is not my genre, however I quite enjoyed this story. It does end oddly, I was expecting another book and from what I see there isn’t one. The storyline was engaging and the characters were well thought out.

Lauren returns to New Orleans when she finishes high school. Not sure what direction to take next she decides to use the time to make some choices before locking herself into college. Her brother Blake is the front man for a band and his best friend Carey who is like her brother is a famous musician. She has always had feelings for Carey but is not sure he sees her in the same light. While in New Orleans she is working with the caterers on a production sight. This is where she meets Jackson the leading actor and they become involved but it’s a complicated arrangement at best. There is no love lost between Carey and Jackson and jealousy, warnings and lots of anger between the triangle.

Strong storyline, incredible world building
A FIve star read!
The first few chapters contain a lot of character building as well as setting up the tone for the story
I will warn pay attention to the little things in the first couple chapters - because later in the story you will wish you had! That is the only spoiler I am giving - because once we "think we knew who is who and what is going on-
Willett lets go and I have to say -
Lock your seatbelts and place your trays in the upright position - you are in for some turbulence
I never saw most of the twists coming and even now I am not sure in which direction the story or even Lauren is going to go -
I honestly can't blame her - I have trouble choosing between the two lead males myself - excellent lead characters!
I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~

This book was a little hard to get into. Once I did though, I was able to read it quickly! There are two insanely hot alpha males vying for Lauren's heart/safety. But, when Lauren finds out who they are, she needs to take a step back.

Z.N. Willett has written a book that will take ahold of you, not right off the bat, but after there is enough built up. It will take you by the shoulders and take you on a ride that you won't want to get off!!

Forget stories that are clean cut, making it easy to know good guys from bad guys and right from wrong. This tale will have you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out intrigues, hidden agendas, and what is the greater picture. Could the charming bad not be all bad? Are the lovable good really that good? And what the hell does the intriguing title of the story want to tell me? Could it be I have it all wrong? I couldn't stop reading until I was through, the sort-of-sudden ending leaving me yearning for more. Let's hope the next part will come out soon.

A complete drag…

This book was a complete drag. I found myself having to skip pages and chapters just to gain insight and new information. Lastly, the paranormal aspect wasn’t introduced until the last few chapters of the book. This is not a series I would recommend.
