You do your best to keep your body in fighting shape, but this time of year, getting sick is nearly impossible to avoid. In fact, scientists at Yale found that lower temperatures, like those in fall and winter, weaken your first line of immune defenses.

And when you don't know who or what has come into contact with the surfaces in public places, or even your homes, it can be nearly impossible to know what to clean.

Sherwin-Williams has heard our germophobic pleas and has introduced a new product, Paint Shield, that actually has the ability to "kill infectious pathogens," according to a press release.

The paint, which will hit stores in early 2016, is the first EPA-registered microbicidal paint, and it has the ability to kill more than 99.9% of bacteria that can make you sick, including Staph, MRSA and E. coli, after two hours of exposure on the painted surface.

And although the paint was designed for use in health care facilities, it would be just as useful elsewhere, including our homes.

That is, if we can decide on which of the 590 colors to choose from. Check out the video below for a Paint Shield demo.
