Cam Akers, a highly-regarded four-star running back from Clinton, Miss., announced his decommitment from Alabama on Thursday afternoon.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Akers committed to Alabama last Aug. 4. According to the 247Sports composite, Akers is the No. 36 overall prospect and No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi.

Earlier Thursday, Warner Robins, Ga., quarterback Jake Fromm announced he was decommitting from Alabama and committing to Georgia.

Akers announced his decision in a tweet.

"Alabama is a classy organization and the fans just as such," Akers said. "They are still very much a favorite."

Akers said he wanted to make the best decision for him and that he had no timetable for a decision going forward.

Akers visited Alabama last Friday, then went over to Georgia on Saturday. Auburn has offered recently and Akers will visit Ohio State this weekend.

Alabama still has two running backs committed in Antioch, Calif., five-star standout Najee Harris and Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa four-star recruit Brian Robinson. Harris is the top prospect in the country, per the 247Sports composite.
