University Of Houston Releases Campus Carry Draft Policy

The University of Houston released today (Tuesday March 1) its draft plan to implement the law known as campus carry.

It goes into effect this August for four-year public institutions and will allow people with licenses to bring concealed weapons to campus.

However, universities can carve out some gun free zones, and the draft UH policy outlines those areas.

They include dorms other than the Calhoun Lofts, the school of music and the health and biomedical sciences building.

The campus carry work group plans to hold forums later this month to gather more feedback before it sends the policy to UH President Renu Khator.
