In our new baseball team valuations we calculate the worth of the Atlanta Braves at $1.5 billion, an increase of 28% from a year ago.
A report out today by John Tinker of Gabelli & Company values the Braves at $1.63 billion, 9% more than our value. Tinker believes the MLB team will increase revenue to $353 million by 2020 from $326 million in 2017.
Including the value of the land (exluded from the Forbes valuation of the team) in the nearby The Battery Atlanta, project, yields a valuation of about $2.2 billion, Tinker reckons.
Profits (in the sense of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) for the tracking stock Liberty Braves Group (BATRA), which includes both the team and mixed-use real estate project, arre projected to increase to $78 million by 2020 from $9 million this year.
Tinker thinks the tracking stock, currently trading at $23.70, is worth $30.
