The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has joined forces with the Partnership for New York City organization to launch the accelerator program Transit Tech Lab. This is seeking innovative technology companies with solutions that improve public transportation. The accelerator program has selected four companies to develop new solutions for public transport in New York with the MTA.
According to a press release, Axon Vibe with headquarters in Schlössli Schönegg in Lucerne is among the chosen four. It impressed with its smartphone app technology that enables public transport operators to deliver personalized communications to passengers. If service is disrupted, impacted users can be proactively notified directly based on their location. The app also considers users’ commuting behavior. Passenger flows can therefore be redirected in good time. The app provides alternative transportation suggestions based on rider’s anticipated destination and commuting preferences.
“We are delighted that our work has received this attention and recognition,” said Roman Oberli, CEO of Axon Vibe, in an article in the Luzerner Zeitung newspaper. “Working together with the MTA – the top public transport system in the USA – highlights the importance of modern public transport navigation systems for the rapidly growing field of mobility in cities,” added Roman Oberli. For Axon Vibe, this collaboration is “the perfect route to market entry into the USA”.
