Fires strike homes in Woolwich, Cherry Hill

WOOLWICH - Fire struck two homes in Woolwich and Cherry Hill on Saturday afternoon.

Heavy fire struck a home in Woolwich on Saturday afternoon.

In all, eight residents were displaced by the house fires, the American Red Cross said.

The Woolwich blaze was reported around 12:50 p.m. at 389 Harrisonville Road, according to scanner reports. Heavy fire was discovered upon arrival and was brought under control around 3:48 p.m.

In Cherry Hill, fire struck a home at 326 Cherry Hill Boulevard at 3:20 p.m and was brought under control at 3:39 p.m.

Disaster volunteer caseworkers met with a family of four in Woolwich and provided emergency assistance for food and clothing. The family is now staying with relatives. In Cherry Hill, the nonprofit provided temporary lodging for four people.
