Bender Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Cresson, PA - For his outstanding play on the court and tremendous effort in the classroom, Mount Aloysius senior Dillon Bender was selected to the 2015-2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team on Thursday afternoon. The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Bender was one of eight players named to the NCAA Division III District 4 First Team.

The senior guard leads the Mounties and is fourth among all conference players with 17.7 points per game. He leads the conference with 76 three-point field goals made and ranks sixth in three-point percentage as he is currently shooting 39.6 percent from behind the arc. Bender is also shooting 83.5 percent from the foul line and is third on the team with 17 steals on the defensive end.

In the classroom, Bender has registered a 3.98 cumulative GPA as a Business major. Bender has been a consistent Dean's List student at Mount Aloysius College and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the student-athlete honor society, as well as the Academic All-Conference team.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.

First-team Academic All-District honorees, which includes Bender, advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
