With a Facebook post from Director James Gunn, the universe was put on notice that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” the much anticipated sequel to Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” had begun principal photography. It’s about time, since the movie is supposed to open in theaters on May 5th of 2017.

To quote the great poet David Coverdale, Here I Go Again.

The night before Gunn held a Q&A on his Facebook account wand weighed into many details about the movie. Top of the list was that neither Thanos nor the Infinity Gems will appear in the film. He also mentioned that fan favorites Yondo (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) will have more screentime in the sequel. There’s also a new female member of the Guardians.

Perhaps most encouraging, Gunn is considering directing a third volume of the series.
