EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Millville police Chief Jody Farabella was at the Atlantic County Police Training Center here on Thursday to watch the graduation of four men his department sponsored last fall.

Graduates Adam Hipsley, Bryan Orndorf, William Lazarcheck and Ryan Williams will be assigned to a Millville training officer and rotated through various departments and roles before hitting the streets solo, Farabella said afterward.

“I’m very proud of the recruits,” Farabella said. “Academies are designed to be tough. They did it, and that shows commitment. They want to be here. So I’m proud for each and every one of them."

The department has three more recruits it will be sending for training in March or April. That group, and the graduates, all come on as replacements rather than additions to the police force.

The police force is budgeted for 78 officers, but as of last November had 59 available due to retirements, injuries and disciplinary cases.

Farabella said he intends to continue asking for new hires.
