DeMarcus Ware buys all of his teammates $130 bottles of whisky

How happy was DeMarcus Ware about finally getting a Super Bowl ring?

Happy enough to drop $129.99 on specially embroidered bottles of Crown Royal XR whisky for every one of his teammates.

“To celebrate being the BEST in the world, I gifted the entire team commemorative bottles of @CrownRoyal XR! Time to toast with the BEST whisky! #sb50 #champions #honor #crownroyal,” Ware wrote as the captain to an Instagram post on Monday.

If Ware paid full price, he spent $6,759.48 on teammates on the active roster (and $9,359.28 if he also bought it for injured reserve, practice squad, and future contract teammates).

“Available in limited quantities, the whisky hails from the famed LaSalle distillery near Montreal which no longer produces whisky,” a spokesperson for Crown Royal XR said in an email Monday. “Beer might do in a pinch, but quality trumps quantity and the team will be sipping something smoother tomorrow when Ware distributes this gift to his Championship teammates.”

Ware, 33, recorded 7.5 sacks in 11 healthy games this season. He recorded 10 last season.

Ware is scheduled to make $7 million this season, according to Spotrac. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the team ask him to take a pay cut to clear up salary cap space this offseason.

Contract situation aside, Ware has no plans to retire anytime soon.
