LETTER: Cat story unworthy of front page

Vineland

Re: “Stray cat escapes a sticky situation” (DJ, Feb. 10)

Wednesday’s paper had a “cat stuck in a peanut butter jar” lead. Front page! Plus additional reporting inside.

I always thought the front page was a place for powerful, gripping and or tragic events.

High school papers are more compelling. I must say, with all the real goings on in the area, as well the rest of the world, how can this be news? It is embarrassing to see the paper with “news” like this.

Perhaps in the future, if you feel the need to take up dead space or just waste ink by reporting on an anonymous cats’ troubles, it may be better suited to a smaller inside spot or the local SPCA column.

Really? What a ridiculous decision.
