Valentine's Day 2016 by the numbers Americans spent more money on Valentine's Day related goods and services last year than the GDP of more than 80 countries, roughly $19 billion. Americans ate 58 million pounds of chocolate and red roses were actually the second most popular flower shop purchase.

Valentine's Day is Feb. 14, and with its arrival comes a spike in chocolate and flower sales.

It's just the Valentine's Day way.
