Taking place on Mother’s Day, as part of International Women’s Day 2016 (March 8), CARE International have organised a walk in solidarity with women and girls worldwide who endure inequality and injustice.

Join Helen Pankhurst (great-great-granddaughter of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst), Annie Lennox, Bianca Jagger, Leyla Hussein, Bridget Christie, Natasha Walter and a host of feminists, including London’s 21st century ‘Olympic Suffragettes’ on the walk.

They will walk in traditional Edwardian costume in honour of women worldwide who walk miles each day to provide their families with clean water.

Without access to clean water, women and girls across the world have to spend their days walking for water instead of going to school.

The rally kicks off at 10am, at The Scoop near Tower Bridge, with live entertainment, a debate and powerful real life stories from feminists of all backgrounds speaking out to raise awareness for women’s rights, amplifying the issues still affecting women today such as violence, poverty, lack of education and unequal pay.

From 11.15am, there will be a tribute to the Suffragettes before the free circular hour long walk takes place, finishing with a performance by American band Sister Sledge.

Last year, the march drew over 600 supporters, including Paloma Faith, Gemma Atherton and Annie Lennox, with many dressed as Suffragettes to support the cause.

10am, Sunday, March 6, The Scoop, Queen's Walk,SE1 2DB. The event is free of charge
