Summer exercise ideas – with Better

Leon Popplewell, Sports Psychologist GLL/Better

My First Reiki Experience eiki is the beautiful life energy that flows through all living things. A person’s energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this is the case a person is physically, mentally, and emotionally balanced and their body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. The art of Reiki is a healing technique whereby the Reiki Practitioner administers energy healing through placing their hands above the client’s body. This “life force energy” flows through to activate and strengthen the body’s natural healing processes to help restore mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Reiki simultaneously works to enable the body to heal itself. Through personal experience I have found Reiki to be a powerful healing method which serves to align and balance you in a beautiful, natural, gentle and non-invasive way. Receiving Reiki healing is a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience, which will leave you feeling balanced and rejuvenated. Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all stress, tension, anxiety, fear and negative emotions to reach our natural state of health, balance, peace and well-being. ith the winter blues a distant memory the coming of summer brings the promise of lighter days, warmer temperatures and the opportunity to be ourselves again in our favourite clothes. Seasonal fluctuations in eating habits and exercise levels are a real psychological phenomenon with summer typically being the time of year where we weigh less and exercise more so why not make the most of this natural change? Here are some trending summer fitness ideas that will shake up your routine for summer and get you looking and feeling great.

Running

Running is huge at the moment. You can’t go far without stumbling across a running club and can find a race pretty much every weekend. There are also ‘get into run’ classes where even the apprehensive can be given the support they need to build up a regular habit.

Meditation

There’s nothing new about meditation. Meditation is a mental training and calming exercise, and taking time out of your fitness schedule to focus on gathering your thoughts and slowing yourself down is important in combatting the stress of daily life.

Minimalism

Do your workouts include push-ups, squats or pull-ups? This is Body Weight Training and is a back to basics, minimalist, approach to fitness. Popular in parks or outside spaces, do this with an exercise partner to make it more fun and keep motivated.
