Harrisburg High student arrested, superintendent confirms; but charges unclear

UPDATE:

A Harrisburg High School student has been arrested, and the district is cooperating with law enforcement, district officials have confirmed.

Superintendent Sybil Knight-Burney confirmed that Asher Potts, a high school student who recently took part in a youth panel on violence, has been arrested.

"We don't know all of the charges," Burney said. "... I was told that he was arrested last evening at his home."

Burney said she couldn't discuss information about any students as that would be a violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Kirsten Keys, district spokeswoman, said the district would be issuing a statement shortly on the matter. She said the district is cooperating with law enforcement regarding any ongoing investigation they're conducting.

Harrisburg police Captain Gabriel Olivera couldn't immediately be reached to confirm what charges Potts allegedly faces, but ABC27 has reported that Potts has been arrested for false identification. PennLive has been unable to confirm that allegation.
