Have the rent-hike blues got you down, Atlanta? No matter — move! A new heatmap by RENTCafé.com, a nationwide apartment search website, clearly illustrates where deals on apartments can still be had across the ATL. The research, compiled with Yardi Matrix data, showcases the median rent for zip codes across the city. A breakdown of the most expensive and cheapest zip codes yields a few surprises.
For their Top 10 Most/Least expensive zip codes list, RentCafé.com used the actual rent charged in apartment buildings with 50 or more rental units — in areas with at least 200 rentals. Based on these findings, zip code 30363 — basically Atlantic Station and its fringes — has notched the highest median rent in the city at $1,846. This includes rental units of all sizes, so maybe apartments are just bigger in Fantasy Island, on average?
Little else in the priciest echelon should come as a surprise. The second most expensive rental zip code is 30326, North Buckhead (around Lenox), with $1,659 median rents, followed by Peachtree Hills ($1,615) and on down to Virginia-Highland/Morningside ($1,510), Candler Park/Druid Hills ($1,490) and Midtown ($1,413).
It is rather surprising, however, to see Sandy Springs at No. 10 on the least expensive list ($1,217) with downtown Atlanta a notch cheaper at ($1,150).
