For many the Florida Keys equates to Key West. When I often tell people I relocated to the Florida Keys, they start telling me stories about Key West even if they drove through the Florida Keys, the 100 plus miles of the Florida Keys, they mention Key West. Well, there is much more to the Florida Keys, and in episode 12, I discuss the Marathon in the middle, the middle Florida Keys.
Where is Marathon, Florida?

Simply defined – Marathon is located in mile marker 50s and high 40s. Marathon is the big town just before you take the seven mile bridge. Yes, that famous long bridge all of us need to drive across if we road trip to the end of the road and mile marker 0 in Key West. That’s Marathon.
This stretch of the Florida Keys, still often described as still the “Old Keys” or the “Heart of the Keys” offers much of the original charm of the Florida Keys from the storybook days and has quite a few impressive attractions to visit. I discovered it is certainly not just a drive-thru, but a place to stay for a holiday. A place for the fisherman, families, and more.
Marathon in the Middle
In this episode I explore places to stay and eat, attractions to visit, discuss the restoration of Faro Blanco Lighthouse and its award winning marina.
