In terms of outstanding firework shows in Gotham, you might think Macy’s Fourth of July Spectacular is all we have. (Wrong!)

You can catch stunning fireworks at baseball games and, of course, there are several spots where you can view celebratory New Year’s Eve displays. However, there are a few other events offering stellar fireworks that are worth checking out. Here are the one’s you certainly don’t want to miss before the end of the year!

North River Landing Fireworks Show; Pier 81; Fri 28 at 9pm
More than 730 fireworks will be set off at North River Landing's unique Halloween event in partnership with PABLO—an app that helps users take photos of bright lights in the dark.

NY Marathon Opening Ceremony; Central Park; Nov 4 4:45pm–7pm
Just a few days before the marathon, there's a free and open-to-the-public opening ceremony to pump up the runners before race day. The event (hosted by United Airlines) starts with a pre-show concert, followed by the Parade of Nations, which showcases runners from around the world. A firework display will end the night with a bang (literally).

NYRR Midnight Run at Central Park Bandshell; Dec 31 at midnight
In case you want to ring in 2017 the healthy and proactive way versus pounding flutes of champagne and making out with a total stranger, join the New York Road Runners for a midnight run. There will be music an dancing with a countdown to midnight, and a gorgeous firework display.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Prospect Park Grand Army Plaza; Dec 31 at 11pm
This annual firework display is held at the ever-beautiful Prospect Park, where there's live entertainment including bands and DJs and hot chocolate at Grand Army Plaza just before the show.
