Map shows cities with rents equivalent to Brooklyn neighborhoods

There are very few places in NYC these days with rents that would be considered affordable, but Brooklyn is in a league of its own.

For the second year in a row, the borough was predicted to be the least-affordable housing market relative to income in the entire country. In other words, Brooklyn renters may want to take a long, depressing look at this map created by Reddit user omicr_on.

Using data from Trulia Heat Maps this month, the map shows the other (some quite nice) places with similar rents to various Brooklyn neighborhoods. The graphic is based on the "price per bedroom" and it's noted that it should be used for "entertainment, not a real estate strategy guide."

Another solid real estate strategy? Renting an apartment in Santa Fe, apparently.
