Human remains found in burned holiday trailer near Peace River have RCMP seeking tips

An investigation was underway Thursday after human remains were found in a burned holiday trailer southeast of Peace River.
Peace Regional RCMP said the discovery was made Wednesday on Reno Road, about 40 km southeast of Peace River.
Members from the RCMP’s major crimes unit took over and were being assisted by members from the Peace Regional detachment and the RCMP’s forensic identification section. Provincial fire investigators also were involved in the investigation.
Cpl. Hal Turnbull, who speaks on behalf of RCMP K Division, said the holiday trailer was found in the ditch off the road in a remote area.
“It’s very unusual, that’s why the fire department called us,” Turnbull said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday in Edmonton.
The RCMP would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual or suspicious in the area of Reno Road, southeast of the community of Peace River, between Monday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 17.
