An investigation was underway Thursday after human remains were found in a burned holiday trailer southeast of Peace River.

Peace Regional RCMP said the discovery was made Wednesday on Reno Road, about 40 km southeast of Peace River.

Members from the RCMP’s major crimes unit took over and were being assisted by members from the Peace Regional detachment and the RCMP’s forensic identification section. Provincial fire investigators also were involved in the investigation.

Cpl. Hal Turnbull, who speaks on behalf of RCMP K Division, said the holiday trailer was found in the ditch off the road in a remote area.
