WOODBURY - A West Deptford man was sentenced to a decade behind bars for a sexual assault of a child.

South Jersey man gets 10 years in prison for a sex crime against a child.

Brandon Albrecht, 29, pleaded guilty two months ago to the assault inside his home in November of 2013.

Albrecht must serve 85 percent of his term before becoming eligible for parole. He’ll also be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be subject to at least 15 years of parole supervision after release from prison, Superior Court Judge Robert P. Becker said in imposing the sentence.

The victim’s mother addressed the court before sentencing, saying the disclosure of abuse was initially made to a sibling and are words no parent should have to hear. She added that her child was smart enough to know what Albrecht did was wrong.

Becker credited Albrecht’s willingness to cooperate with law enforcement and plead guilty on Nov. 16, but said that was substantially outweighed by “aggravating” factors that include victimizing someone who is particularly vulnerable. The child was younger than 13, officials said.

The state’s sex offender treatment center at Avenel interviewed Albrecht and reported he was not a repetitive and compulsive offender, but expressed concern because of the victim’s age and recommended psychotherapy for Albrecht, the judge said.
